    I think Archer will be loaned anyway. Yeah, you would imagine a starting striker given the players, on the whole, are starters he’s buying. As for the other two, it will depend if he plays one or two upfront, it was a bit of a mix at the end of season. In that situation, having 3 strikers sounds about right. Hmmm, not sure. We aren’t likely to buy just one more player, so a couple of positions, therefore for me a striker is within those few priorities of positions we need upgrading. I think it’s a weakness in our team at the moment. I guess it’s just fans differing views of what is needed. We need to sell those anyway, I’m not sure if they stayed they add much at the level Gerrard wants anyway.

    I disagree. We’ve heard a couple of times the notion of selling either of those two dismissed by the club but we’ve also been told the club are interested in a forward. While you can’t see it, everything we are being told suggests otherwise.

    I agree a lot of the set pieces weren’t great but I remember many times when the likes of Mings and Konsa not hitting the target when it seemed easier to hit the target than not. Anyway off topic for this thread so I’ll get back to buying players talk.

    See, I’m not convinced he does. He wants them around because he needs options but I think he was getting frustrated with them, they also don’t really fit his style, they weren’t delivering so I wasn’t surprised with Suarez rumours, and/or Percy and some other credible sources saying about interest in a forward. Gerrard isn’t here to buy back up/squad players with most of his buys being starters and I don’t think the same will be about the rumoured forward we are interested in.

    I’m the opposite mate, I think they will be buying a main striker for reasons I’ve outlined before. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

    Wow, just feels like other teams CB’s occasionally score on set pieces and ours just don’t but I guess based on the stats that’s not true. Thanks for the info.

    Seems pretty poor return for most of those players, I think only Cash seems ok

    Can’t agree, McGinn scored 3 league goals, Luiz 2, Konsa 2, Mings 1…these figures aren’t enough. How are our big CB’s not scoring more for example.

    He’s always been honest before when misinfo has come out so I’d be surprised if he was lying this time. He comments on things when he thinks appropriate so for the moment I’ll take him for his word. NV’s post that I reposted on the last page are slightly different so maybe they are the real kits…who knows!

    But Luiz has been linked with Roma and Arsenal, McGinn has been linked with Man U and Spurs. Just because they are linked doesn’t mean they are right for us or they would move to those clubs. It’s a false narrative using that as a reason.

    I’m simple but not classy so you maybe right I think it’s simple but unfortunately washed but seems I’m in the minority on here. Just can’t believe that has been designed by people who have gone through years of learning of design, then vast experience in the design world and finally paid a fortune to design something I could’ve done in my Uni years when I was learning to wash my own clothes and accidentally washed my white Villa shirt with my new blue shower towel, so it was no longer quite white anymore.

    For me it will give us strength against the biggest teams at the back, allow more possession in the team and then more freedom for our fullbacks if they get caught up field along with giving our front creative players more freedom on the counter attack. I don’t expect it against weaker teams but against the bigger teams I love the tactic.

    Ok, so you think he’s an excellent PL striker? That his spells at Man U and Chelsea lead you to believe that? I’d even grant you he scored 28 goals in 66 games for Man U but his last two PL teams we two of the best in the league in those seasons and can you honestly say he was excellent….far from it!
