  1. I think some of you are blowing two things completely out of proportion: 1) How important distribution from a keeper is 2) How bad Guzan supposedly is at it To put it into perspective, look at the passing success rate of various keepers in the league: Courtois - 37.5% Mignolet - 51.9% Romero - 52.8% Hart - 60% Adrian - 47.5% Guzan? 50% - so plum average.
  2. What am I making up? Sherwood said those things, I said that they MIGHT indicate something. Get your facts right ffs.
  3. I don't think it's crucial, no. I like having academy players coming through but it doesn't really matter where they're from in the grand scheme of things. You may incur some wrath for disagreeing with Sherwood, though, which seems to be the case at the moment.
  4. That's because you added your own words there - 'expensive', 'overrated' and 'shit'.
  5. He's cover for tiredness and injuries. While he won't offer impact, he'll offer fresh legs and a reasonable degree of competency in a variety of positions.
  6. It wasn't unfounded - he said: “Having English players (in the team) is crucial because we’re playing in a British league,” he said. “That core of players is unbelievably important. “I would say, if anyone was to become available now, they probably would be coming from the English market. “No-one’s given an opportunity to English players more than me. Then I used some words like 'might have' and 'may have', which indicate a lack of certainty.
  7. You might then argue YLN, that Gabby was one of the reasons that team was bad.
  8. Or more like if we didn't have a good scouting set-up in place, which probably brought a few players to his attention, he may have gone with the players he knows and trusts. Whatever, it's totally immaterial now anyway. The fact is Sherwood is our manager and there are lots of things to be positive about but there are a few criticisms there too. You aren't going to get loyal points on your Sherwood card by defending his honour at every turn and it makes your posts look unreasonable.
  9. Makes me think that if Sherwood were left to his own devices, he may not have signed the players we did and might have gone the 'Arry/MON route.
  10. We literally didn't have anyone else. So I'm not entirely sure what he could have done? Also very early days, good to get Ayew minutes and to be fair, hard for Sherwood to really know what he has until watching them in a competitive match. Thought Gabby was good second half seeing more if the ball. Have been generally impressed with him since Sherwood came in, think he has earned his place. Yes we did, we had Kozak. Ah yes. So you think he was the answer? He may well have been but he didn't play, so we don't know. The point is, we had the option.

  12. I don't really blame him or the front 3 in the first half - they were all way too similar and it wasn't a good move by Sherwood to start them. We'll struggle massively to score goals if they all start regularly for us.
  13. Playing him against United would be utterly mad. I don't expect Sherwood to - I think Hutton'll go there.
  14. You mentioned Kozak yourself and Gestede was clearly ready - he came on, did well and scored.
  15. How many points has he cost us with that in the past? Barely any, why is he going to start now? The guy kept us in the game with some good saves - the defence is getting praise, yet they let Bournemouth in too many times and it was up to Brad to stop them. He's a good keeper.
  16. More to the point, it's apples and oranges - Veretout is a creative player, Sanchez is La Roca. Sanchez offers more than Westwood defensively, Veretout offers more than Westwood attack-wise. Should be those two with the amazing Gana.
  17. This. - Some great tackles - Plenty of interceptions - Some poor decisions (weak clearance that led to a great chance for them, the time where he decided to stop tracking back to cover and slow down for some unknown reason, those mental runs up the pitch for no reason)
  18. He gets credit for the changes he made but he put out a silly front 3 really, who were all the same type of player and gave us only one dimension. Realistically, we could easily be coming out of that game with a loss, with the chances they had - so we shouldn't get carried away because we didn't dominate them.
  19. Looked totally outclassed next to Gueye - I'd rather start Sanchez.
  20. Agree that he'll be the go to guy for weaker teams but he's not young for RB. Amavi is a lot younger and is light years ahead of him.
  21. Richards got away with more than Clark tbf.
  22. Not good enough to be a starter IMO. Sanchez deserves the nod all day ahead of him.
  23. He reacted well and corrected his initial mistakes with the team selection. Did alright today.
  24. A few times he messed up but made some great tackles at times too. Not sure he's going to fare so well against good strikers in the prem.
