We could have played that last season with NRC & Petrov sitting behind Young, Barry and Milner. General, I'm not sure whether you are aware, but it's the Cheltenham Festival this week. It's by far the best horse racing event in the UK. The main race of the festival is the Cheltenham Gold Cup which will take place on Friday. This is one of, if not, THE most highly sought after and prestigious prizes in National Hunt Racing. For a horse to win this race, they truly need to be the best of the best. You may have heard of a horse called Best Mate - owned by lifelong Villa fan Jim Lewis. Best Mate won the Gold Cup three times in a row which is a remarkable achievement. He also ran in Claret and Blue to reflect Jim's love of the club. Every time Best Mate won the Gold Cup, Jim was invited to parade the cup around Villa Park, which he did, each time proudly wearing his Villa scarf. Unfortunately, Best Mate died in 2005 and racing lost one of it's most loved horses. So anyway, with the Cheltenham Festival this week, and with us at home on Sunday, I was wondering if the club plan to commemorate a sporting legend and one of the most famous horses in racing history? Perhaps a video could be shown on the big screen before the game of Best Mate racing to win his third successive Cheltenham Gold Cup?

Villa might be Champions League participants in three years, but, by this time, Barry will be thirty. He's already used up ten years of his career at Villa and has nothing to show for it. Playing in the Champions League is what many footballers aspire to and, if he stays here, he might get a shot at it in 10/11. Has anyone seen the South Park where they absolutely OWN Family Guy!? It's the one where the Manatees are writing the Family Guy scripts by picking random idea balls in a tank. Sounds strange but you have to watch it to understand what I mean - I've never looked at Family Guy in the same light since. It was pure genius. The best one ever though was 'Scott Tenorman Must Die'!!! (Cartman buys pubes from an older boy for $10 after being conned that you have to buy them, rather than grow them yourself). The storyline and ending was probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen! It's infinitely funnier than ANY Simpsons/Family Guy that I've ever watched. I was the same as other on here - I'd watched bits of one or two, but never really got it, but one day I watched a whole episode (think it was the 'Brown Noise') and just became hooked.

Any squad 'improvements' are only relative to the rest of the teams within that league. If we sign Bellamy, Spurs sign Bent, and Liverpool sign Eto'o - how have we improved relative to them? Arguably we wouldn't have done, they'd have just put further ground between us. And as for your second point - Yes and No. You have to draw the line somewhere when trusting MON's judgement. I think right back is definitely an area we need to look at. Saying that, we could also do with cover for Bouma just in case he gets injured. I know Barry can fill in at left back, but I'd much prefer 'specialist' cover. Would Gabby play if we bought Bellamy? My point is I'd prefer us just to play Gabby, rather than buy Bellamy. However, if we bought someone like Bent, I'd be quite happy for Gabby to see a lot more of the bench.

no he isn't but I think MON see's him and Carew as a good partnership ... bellamy is certainly a player to split views, if we signed him the thread would go to 50 pages plus ... Gabby is a better player/partner for Carew Precisely! I just prefer to stick with Gabby rather than spend (waste) cash on a little welsh tosser who's had about one decent season in top flight football. Agree 100%!
