  1. It is beyond me how people can defend a manager who sees Jordan Bowery as good enough. It is beyond me how people defend a board that appointed Alex McKleish. Something is broken.
  2. 'Mary and Max' - several moments in there - not just the end. 'Sixth Sense' - where Cole is in the car with his Mom near the end. When his Mom says 'Do I make her proud?'. She realises then that Cole must be telling the truth about seeing the ghost of his grandma. Also the 'you were never second' line. 'Man on Fire' - the end for sure but also the scene where Pita gives him the present - for some reason.
  3. In Denmark a closing down sale is called 'Slutspurt' so shops have that displayed in the window. I wonder how many tourists have wandered in with high hopes...
  4. is this guy really the best bet for a commentator on avtv? those annoying..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................pauses are just painful.
  5. So it's fair to say that he knows a little about the professional game then - that is why I have faith in his judgement. Posters who claim they have all of the answers to our current situation (and every other situation it seems under any manager you care to name) probably don't know much about the professional game - by comparison. I think that is a fairly solid argument. The witch-hunt that is starting is based on comments by people who are probably not qualified to point out what should have been done.
  6. To the people making the "Lambert is a moron - he should have done this or that" type comments - please explain why Lambert is a football manager and you aren't.
  7. we lost a 2 goal lead against a team fighting for the CL. teams lose 2 goal leads - it happens. we scored 3 good goals and we didn't look ready to crumble when every cross came in. their defence was at fault for gabby's goal - ours was at fault for theirs. normal football stuff. we didn't get out-played - we didn't get slaughtered - we didn't concede 8 goals. a draw away at everton has to be seen as positive.
  8. The fans hounded Doug and DOL out of the club because we weren't winning the league. How did that work out? Anyone? We now have a man at the helm with no heart whatsoever in this club. All it took was shaking a few hands and some free scarves - all that was missing was kissing some babies. Fans think they have the answers to the problems - we don't know much about football. We know how to watch it. If it was as easy as some fans claim - "why didn't he just this or that?" - someone would have done it by now. In five years time we may well be maoning again that we aren't breaking into the top four. I'm ranting - I wish I had the answers...
  9. my opinion for what it's worth is that lambert tried to make this team his own way too soon. too many changes in one go. i think he should have made his changes gradually. his system may well work but we just don't have time. he clearly isn't a bad manager but it just isn't working. as for lerner i am amazed at how easily fans turned a blind eye to the mckleish appointment. doug was hounded out for way less.
  10. i never agreed with the way the fans set up a lynching for doug and dol but i think similar now is quite justified - we are in a bad way. teams come at us 100% confident of a win.
  11. so how long will it be before the banners come out? it's doug and dol all over again. by the way some people referred to those days as "dark"....
  12. i think benteke is like a football version of john carew.
  13. that second goal was some sexy football - that backheel is motm worthy. and loved that 19th minute - nice. although maybe it was like "ah bless - they're having a nice day out and we're going to beat them heavily - let's give them something to remember they day". if stan's number was 89 not sure they'd have been so keen...
  14. So if the days under DOL and Doug were "the dark days".....what are we calling these times? We weren't happy with being a nearly team but I'd swap what we have now for DOL and Doug.
  15. Please someone just copy this and paste into every thread of this nature.
  16. yes i'm sure we were concerned about the loyalty downing showed to boro when he joined us. or the loyalty young showed to watford. get real people - they are professionals looking to advance their careers!
  17. The new manager will get my support. I don't care where he has come from and what his cv is. This club has been mine for 40 years and i'm not going anywhere.
  18. http://footballocks.net/index.php/936/chelsea-vs-aston-villa-highlights/ goals.....
  19. For far too long now we have played like this. Lots of effort but just nothing to offer up front.
  20. goals here http://www.mysoccerplace.net/video/aston-villa-vs-brighton-32
  21. great - we've just become that bit less attractive for the last few days of the window....... this week has summed up life as a villa fan over the last 25 years.
