  1. So you are saying this isn't about one game but then declaring that we have made no progress this Summer based on one game? fair point but i think you know what I mean. there is nothing to suggest that last Saturday was a break from what has become the norm.
  2. why do people think this is about 1 game? where have you been since Christmas. Saturday was a sign that over the summer we have made no progress whatsoever and GB looks to have made a very good decision. Yes early days for the season but can anyone really see a positive outcome here? Some people talk about players from Real Madrid and that just won´t happen. MON does not attract top players (not able bodied ones) - fact. He takes risks (like he's buying beef nearly out of date because it´s cheap) and when one comes off he is god.
  3. This poll is in response to the fact that today's performance was where we left off in May. We are still playing clueless football and never look like winning - today was down to a whole new level though.
  4. Wigan played as well as they were allowed to play. Milner's spirit was the only plus for me. I can't recall a more gutless performance under any manager (please feel free to remind of one - I may be wrong) and I am 38 and have been a fan since the womb. I want to like MON but can someone give me a reason. This club has been my club for many years and I don't like what MON is doing with it. Oh and the booing thing - how exactly do fans tell MON that they are not happy with the performance? Maybe people feel that after paying good money they have the right to voice their opinion. Do you want MON/ Randy/ the players to think that we are happy tonight?
  5. It will cost a lot of money to replace him. Can't believe anyone would be happy to see him go. I judge players by what they do on the pitch - unless we are talking Joey Barton type stuff.
  6. All about the passion - we can out passion anyone. As I have said before if the passion isn't there we look very poor football wise. The Everton game showed how strong we are with passion and how weak we are without it.
  7. Davies has impressed me especially this season! Doubt he'd leave Bolton though Totally with you on that one. Plays the Carew role better than Carew. Links up well with other players and there can't be many better in the air. I would have thought MON would like him too. A fit Carew and Davies battling for a spot would be nice.
  8. You have no idea what you're saying. You can't have. I'm stating facts - we won things under Doug. You seem to have read that I said Doug was a lovely chairman. My point is that even if the fans are happier with the way the club is run this won't mean much if we don't add to our honours list.
  9. The feel good factor does not fit in our trophy cabinet. Those "terrible" times bought us trophies and runners up spots.
  10. Can't be bothered to trawl through 75 pages so sorry if this has been mentioned but the Carew (he's bigger than me or you) song is pure genius. Easily the best Villa song since Oh Andy your the greatest etc....
  11. Oh and lets be reasonable when we use the word legend can we? Neither Barry nor Melberg deserve the tag. Paul McGrath was the last legend ever to pull on the shirt. Regarding Barry I'll say again - this is his career. Why should he stay? He wants CL football and we can't provide that right now. Why is he a traitor? Get a grip people - he is changing his job. He owes us nothing - the club paid him money - he played football. Don't think that just because we get emotional about our club that he should too. This is not his team - this is his employer.
  12. What did Barry do (or is it about to do maybe) that Melberg didn't. They both want to play at the highest level. Put yourself in the players shoes. We´re not talking about a former holte ender here. It is his career. If you think a player should remain loyal then maybe he should have stayed at Brighton. Is no-one permitted to leave?
  13. Ah yes I remeber now - Steve Hodge scored the equaliser as I recall. I think Gary Parker got our goal.....
  14. Sorry to comment on this so late but what I loved about the Deano signing was that Big Ron was on the pitch talking to the fans before we signed him and he said - 'we're doing everything we can to bring Dean Saunders to this club' - then he had that debut against Liverpool - happy days.......
  15. I just want to add that I think we are judging Cole way too early. "Send him back to Chelsea" etc. And Djemba Djemba for that matter. Does anyone remember Ugo's first few games for us? He looked like Bambi on ice in the first game (Norwich I think it was) and he eventually made one hell of a partnership with Southgate. There are players who have had time to bed in who quite simply don't deliver - slag them off yes but c'mon - give these guys a chance.
