I think it's pretty clear the owners did not give him full backing and he's on the job hanging by a thread. So he's putting out the little excuses if it all goes to shit, he can blame it on the situation. Honestly if we got new owners a bit earlier he'd be gone, I think the only reason he stayed was just to stabilize the club going into the league.

Releasing him without some deal makes no sense to him. If the management agrees with him some sort of wage cut but he instead receive lump sum after leaving then maybe he will.

He may take a cut by taking a single lump of money. For example offer him a lump sum immediately to leave instead of monthly payments.

So a shrewd CEO that in his tenure made Spurs go from being in similar position to us to becoming established Top 4 side is doing his job very well. It'd be nice to have a competent CEO at our club. This is business ffs, don't understand the hate, he tried to get excellent player for cheap. It didn't pay off this time. He used same strategy before and got Eriksen for 12 million. What a deal. -
