He was totally useless under McLeish. And now he's absolutely great. Baffling, but we'll take it. I think his time out of the team has helped him massively. I guess it's possible that he'd started cruising. He was playing regularly at a big club and maybe he just wasn't that bothered anymore. Then the bomb squad exclusion maybe made him sit up and think "actually I'm in danger of spiralling into nowhere here" and cleaned his act up. All assumptions by me, not basing that on any hard evidence. I'm also not saying this is what Lambert planned all along. I think he genuinely would have sold HUtton if we'd had a decent offer. BUt I think it's worked, even if it's purely by accident We were offered money for him from Forest and West Brom but turned them down iirc

I have a mate who can't last 45 minutes who was asked to play for Stratford just to give you an idea of the level of opposition he's played there. May as well have gone to a park in brum and asked for a kick about

If Vlaar and Senderos are out, he needs to start alongside Baker against Everton. As it stands I would rather see Shay Given at CB than Clark

I think we are in terms of the football they play. They play a way which is easy on the eye, and have done consistantly week in week out for a couple of years. We're nowhere near that. Even when they lose games they still seem to play well. But if the football they play only puts them less than a handful of points better than us, how is it better than ours? Your question answers itself surely. Kind of confused by the people saying they aren't too worried about losing him because he's easily replaceable. Who can we sign with his ability in our current on-and-off field situation? And even if we could, I would prefer to replace the majority of the starting XI and bench before having to replace him

This is the final game I expect to lose but I'm thankful on Monday we can put the games against last years top 5 behind us and concentrate on the other 12 teams left to play, starting with a cricket score game against QPR and then an unlikely win over spurs
