  1. I can't see anything other than a loss today but we've started well. I think Sanchez will give us good bite in the middle but I hope Westwood isn't out too long
  2. That is amazing considering how the media are constantly rattling on about Southampton, Liverpool and Everton with their amazing youth academy and youth policy, and about all the great youngsters coming through at Arsenal, Utd etc. Interesting that Newcastle are on that list too when they get criticized for buying in too many foreigners (French and Dutch) I was going to point out that our entire midfield and attack was English against Liverpool, with the exception of Weimann (academy), and Hutton + Baker in defence and it doesn't get mentioned as it's a positive thing. Yet when there were something like 3 british players between the 2 sides for Arsenal vs Man City earlier that day i seemed to see the stat everywhere. Really pleased Lambert has got the extension as i don't think at any point over the last few years we could have got a better manager in. My 3 favourite managers outside of Villa before he was appointed were Martin Jol, David Moyes and Roberto Martinez. one of those had said no to us and the other 2 have now got tainted CV's so i'm happy he's staying on
  3. Thought it was worth mentioning the last season we started with 10 points from 4 games, was the last season we beat Arsenal at home, and were top at Christmas. Be nice for Lambert to break a few more records just to have a nice spread of positive and negative records. Also, the lowest we can drop with everything going against us is 5th, or potentially top if results go for us on Sunday. I wouldn't have dreamt such a strong position after the 5th game at the start of August

  7. Nathan Baker early contender for player of the season
  8. we could potentially get from this game, more than the entire amount of points i was expecting between now and the QPR game. which is huge
  9. for me, you leave Balotelli on, also Markovic, both look like they can create something at any moment, i think liverpools subs help us a lot here
  10. pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass, pass... looking dangerous... HHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFF!! rinse repeat
  11. commentator just saying how high up the table pool can go depending on how many they win by. it's a shame they need at least 2 to move up the table at all as it stands, maybe consider that in your expert analysis
  12. A lot of people were saying we'd see a different, much improved Baker if he slotted into this defensive unit and maybe we're seeing little glimmers of that here. I imagine he'll benefit massively from being constantly spoken to by Senderos, who seems to enjoy organising, in comparison to Vlaar who is a great defender but not a defensive marshall
  13. keep this till half time then try to have the best "bad half" we've ever had
  14. who was it that said the sky commentators won't be happy with this? isn't the 2nd commentator somebody Smith, who is a born and bred Villa fan unless FIFA lies
  15. Look at that energy! No messing about... bosh, bosh, bosh. If only we could have a bit more of that. Slightly depressing seeing John Gregory and a young Lee Hendrie though... making me feel old #BringBackVassell
  16. I really hope you are right. Just look at what happened to Sturridge. He choose Chelsea for more money and almost messed it up. I know and agree with what you're saying but I dont think you could have picked a worse example
  17. His free kick taking is brilliant, he's quick and strong, and he comes across to me as a very intelligent footballer, who was just either unsure of the league, the position he was playing, or both. I think he has everything he needs to be a 1st team player but at the moment we have some very good competition for places in the advanced positions he's good in, and at RB, so it'll be hard for him to get back in the side
