if lambert doesnt get a resonable ammount to spend in january and he has to sell players to finance new buys i could see the value of selling bent as he is a luxury player at the moment, as many has mentioned before, theres no point in playing with effectively 10 players and a isolated bent up top. The money could be spend on a cheaper/younger/"hungry" striker as well as midfielder(s) to provide service. i would say swapping him for downing would be a bad move though, no one knows how long it will take for him to get out of the shit spell hes in at the moment and for all we know the good season he had with us might have been a one time wonder. Im hoping the new scouting chief can find us some better gems instead as i really dont think downing is worth the same as bent, even if bent hasnt been on top form latley either. the best outcome ofcourse would be if lambert got the funds and was able to keep bent aswell as beefing up the service.

In kingston theres a pub behind the penryhn road campus that used to show all the football games, think its more of a rugby pub but they used to show the 1500 games when i studied there, big screen and all, cant really remember the name. otherwise i remember kingston beeing pretty bleak for sport pubs, used to work in a pub by the river so i always picked what games we would show my self hehe.. edit: think the place might have been called the grove?

strongly doubt downing is coming back, infact i dont even think theres a slim chance he will. I think we can assume one of beneteke/gouffran coming in and a LB, if we are lucky we might get a midfielder too but i wouldnt get my hopes up. It will probably be enough to keep us comfortably over the relegation zone, it would give lambert the opportunity to give some players a last chance and reevaluate before the next window. id be happy

for me i hope we get atleast 2 more quality signings this window, hopefully this will be enough to keep us afloat until january or next summer when the squad has had some time to readjust to the new playstyle as well as their new team members which would allow lambert to make more qualified signings where they are actually needed rather than panic buys. I dont even think theres a slim chance well end up above 10-12th possition, this will always be a transitional season for us so i think we can expect more hammerings. If we however dont get any more players in i think we will be in quite some trouble, but im sure lambert got something lined up...hopefully

i got to be honest i havent seen olsson play that much, only a couple international games...my first thought is that i think we could do better, maybe the circumstances dont allow us too or lambert can see potential in him (which he has a bit off) but it seems we need someone that can perform straight away

yeah, the difference beeing when sir alex overpays for someone he still have the likes of giggs and scholes to fall back on, while we have a bunch of unexperienced overrated youngsters. When we are in that possition then we can start taking more of a gamble on transfers. Hehe i dont think anyone on this forum us completely happy with villas transfer dealings, we are all here because we love our club, but we all have different opinions on how to make our future better, but it all stems from our villa spirit i would love to see milner back here too, but at the moment we cant offer him the level of footie that he wants nor can we match the wages hes getting... same with carrol for example.. anyone that thinks he will come here on 50k a week is in some lullaby land were money is worth twice as much as it is in reality. I have full faith that lamber will get us where we want to be, but we have to be a bit patient, even if it is really really REALLY hard hehe..

yes MON was backed and we did took great strides, but not sustainable ones, look at us now, weve been stuck with the shit mon created for the last 2-3 seasons. What MON did was a short time fix and so was the success that he brought, were not in a oligarch possition where its possible to dump millions after millions on players and wages. We need to aim at getting a backbone in our squad, something we can grow and make better over time we simply dont have the economics to fix our whole team in one window or two. We need to buy players with a bit more thought then we did in the MON era, lambert will need maybe 2 years before our squad is in a good possition, good money worth players dont grow on trees. Having said this i still believe we have atleast another two players coming in this window, and i would be more than happy with a mid table finish aslong as it means we get the team to the possition where we have a solid core to develop further from.
