  1. I am out of likes but yeah I agree. Now dont get me wrong I really dont care for Bruce's play style in general. In my dream world he will wake up tomorrow and become a short pass possession based manager but he is an effective manager overall (off and on the pitch). I just think when we criticise him (and we should if we don't like what we see) we should also recognise his record and that he is worthy of our respect. He is not a dinosaur Mick McCarthy style hoofball merchant or a clown like Ian holloway or deluded like Paul Lambert. I just think that and his record needs pointing out occasionally is all.
  2. Has he not improved us since he got here? I mean the negatives get listed every day but he now has the best win rate of any aston villa manager since George Ramsay. I know its unfashionable but I think that counts for something , no?
  3. Winning manager recognises flaws and says he wants to improve. I mean, I get some folks are not impressed by Bruce's style of play, I want it to get better as well, but its not like he went into a paul lambert style deluded victory lap. Also with Aston Villa by no means was tonight's win certain, god knows we have proven we are well capable of losing to this kind of opposition in recent years. Maybe my expectations have just been worn down by the relentless crap we have endured for the best part of a decade but I am taking the positives from tonight.
  4. Incidentally may I say Lee Hendrie was terrible tonight as a commentator. He got just about everything wrong. He has been decent in the past but for whatever reason tonight he was awful.
  5. Clean sheet, saved a penalty, saved every shot on goal. I mean it may not be great but thats enough to give the lad a boost in his post match interview no?
  6. According to sky its our best start since the 1960's
  7. We very obviously need yet another center back on loan. We have James Chester and make weights thats it. God help us if he gets injured.
  8. I hope you are wrong although I see your point. Right now we have one good center back in Chester and several unproven or proven bad ones. Worrying.
  9. I only saw the second half but no it wasnt bad at all. It was a good game (as in entertaining, veuase it was open most of our outfield players played below average imho) and a good performance from bruce balancing rotation with the result. I wont put words in the mouths of those who dont care for Bruce, they can speak for themselves, but for me he didnt do much wrong tonight at all, in fact i rated him as "good" in the past match ratings. Shrug, funny how different fans can see the same game and have radically different conclusions. Football i guess
  10. Exciting keeper. In both senses of the word. But I like him, very mobile, not afraid to get out of his box.
  11. Good solid job by Bruce tonight, I liked his rotation. Keep at it man. best start to a season since the sixties someone said on Sky? Nice to be making positive progress.
  12. Enjoyable. I liked Bruce playing some new players. Like the new keeper. Enjoyable stuff. Great start to a new season.
  13. Should be done now. I enjoyed that! Good run out for new players from Bruce.
  14. He is sweeper keepr style. Dont get me wrong he is shaky af tonight but i see WHAT he wants to be you know? I remember Sam Johnson started awful too.
  15. Yeah he is a manuel neuer style keeper super mobile & swashubuckling.. He may end up being very good indeed.
  16. My standards are low enough i am enjoying this game
  17. I didnt see much wrong with punching there.
