  1. Last time he WAS joining them, he decided against it. He won't change his mind if he's gone back to join them again.
  2. Id like to think it's crap but sadly, there's not normally smoke without fire. If it is true, I'll be disappointed but I don't think it'll bother me as much. To make the last u-turn it confirmed I wanted him as captain, if he's flaked out and changed his mind again I don't really want him here. Does kill my enthusiasm though, what's the point? You get decent players and the are just poached by the bigger clubs in your league so you stay below them... Won't believe until he is confirmed as a City player, but I'll be surprised if this isn't true, it's too much of a long shot for people to be running with it without reliable info. Id love the club to just tweet a jokey tweet towards Man City so we know it's not true, without the club needing to make a statement for every single rumour!
  3. Yes, it is £8m we wouldn't have got if he hadn't signed a new deal, but to a fan, the money is worthless when yo compare it to the loyalty we thought he had that we've now lost. I'd rather he went for nothing because the disappointment of being let down like this, by the club (who continually treat us as mugs) and the player who I though cared about the club like we do is far worse than not getting a low amount of money (in football terms)
  4. For me, Delph leaving has gutted me. Not because he was amazing or anything like that, he wasn't, he's one of our best players, but our players are terrible on the whole, so that's not saying much. It has gutted me because I was so happy to have a player that had flown in the face of what was expected to commit himself to our club. He seemed to love the club like we fans do. I always had misgivings about him signing, I always said it was a publicity stunt to boost morale, much like how the club leak transfer/takeover links to sell tickets for nothing to materialise. When the new kit teasers were published, my prediction of him being off this summer was really starting to look obvious...where was Delph? Where was Delph?..then they released the kit promo photo...I was elated...THERE WAS DELPH! Our captain, the player who loves our club. It makes the club look like a bunch of mugs, captain and best player in promo, sold before kit worn...The club take us for mugs time and time again to eek money out of us. New player due to sign for days...all goes quiet, suddenly, Delph story breaks and we've signed the new player. Do they think we are idiots. If this chap doesn't perform as well, we're in trouble. We will replace Delph, he's not THAT good, it'll be harder to replace Benteke. It just guts me that the glimmer of loyalty I thought was there has gone. It also concerns me that we are now weaker than we were when we finished the season...and we were shit last year. The more I think about it though, how on earn does Delph think he's going to get in the City team, their midfielders are in a different league...
  5. I think this makes us look a bit silly... We offer him a deal, he says no as there's other offers on the table... He's poor, other clubs don't seem too keen, he says he wants to stay, we no longer seem interested... Other clubs start sniffing about, Vlaar no longer wants to stay, we offer another contract...
  6. Eh? Wake up and smell the roses, we ain't got a lot of money so as a Villa fan you better hope that GG proves you wrong. Hoping he proves me wrong is different to having no faith in the idea that he will... In all honesty, I didn't know he'd been ok at Forest, I think I was still thinking Brighton (shows how much I know)...
  7. Something that concerns me is that TS obviously doesn't mind ruffling feathers of his players when he's not happy with them (announcing Jed Steer as an option ahead of Guzan for the final even though he was cup tied) and he seems to have the same idea as Lambert by just homing those he isn't keen on out of the squad. We needed better quality in some (most) areas as it was, now with Cleverley going, that's another to replace. Reports are that Cissohko is off, Hutton might be going, Guzan is not wanted, Wiemann is on Derby's radar, Gil obviously isn't fancied...etc etc etc. That's a lot of players we need to bring in and be decent, or better than what we had before, which will cost a bit of money. Look at what happened at Spurs (nothing to do with Sherwood) when the spent all the Bale money, most of them bombed...and these were decent players, not the lower league, bargain basement stuff we'll probably be looking at...I don't want TS to get rid of all these players who are doing a sub par job, but we managed to stay up, and swap them for more rubbish like Joe Bennett et al. so we find ourselves in another struggle this time next year. With the delayed kit release and the possible struggle to tie down a sponsor as well (unless I've misunderstood the situation), it's all looking a bit like the Aston Villa we've known and loathed this past 4/5 years. Possibly not a speculation post...soz
  8. I'm actually pretty gutted about what's happened to Andi. That first Lambert season, he was my first name on the team sheet, before Benteke even. His work rate, his shooting, his drive, he was excellent. Then he got his contract extended. Suddenly, he can't shoot for shit, his head is never over the ball and he skies it over or wide. Now he just runs around for 90 minutes doing very little. I'd love him to get back to his best form, but we don't really have the time to give him another run at it.
  9. I'm putting no hope into Gardner, everyone hailed him as our saviour a few years back and he's not done anything, even when not injured... Plus, he's just come back from being on loan in the Championship, where he has been ok, but not a world beater... Doesn't inspire me with confidence
  10. Haha glad im not the only 1 who notices strikers end bad runs against us. Ive won on Ulloa and Cisse this season. Ill place a bet on Falcao and Di Maria anytime scorers. This is a definate loss, complete write off Rooney...scored a hat trick after not scoring for about 8 games. We're great at it!
  11. My issue with Given, as good a shot stopper as he is, is that you lose all aerial presence in our box. His kick is better than Guzan but Guzan's height means there are shots he will save that Given has no chance of getting to. That said, Guzan needs to sort that kicking out sharpish.
  12. Falcao hat trick for me as well, we seem to love helping to end bad runs of form. 3-1 that is to be expected. I just hope we give them a game instead of our usual roll over to have our bellies rubbed routine
  13. I'm normally Mr Negative, but, to be fair, we had some decent chances against a very good Swansea team. We didn't hold our own against a good team playing badly, we held our own against a good team who played well. Wiemann sadly is nowhere near the level he was pre-contract. Guzan needs to improve his distribution. N'Zogbia played well, but he needs more confidence, a few times he could've shot today but he hesitated and passed instead. Sinclair looked ok, but let himself down by trying too hard to stick it to the Swansea fans. Delph was excellent, made a fantastic tackle in the 2nd half. Hutton was decent. Clark was also good, but I just wish he would play the ball to feet instead of in to somebody on the chest or head. It takes an extra touch just to bring it under control. Disappointed with the subs. Results have gone our way, so it's as you were, if Burnley hadn't won last week it would all look at lot rosier. Tough games ahead, still possible, we need to match the results of those around us. We look like scoring now, which was one of our main problems.
  14. This must be sarcasm...it has to be, surely...sure Lambo had a different group up until this season, but he has had this group of players, exactly the same, apart from having more players as he had a few less injuries (Benteke aside) for over 20 games and he stifled them... He managed 11 or so goals with this group of players, the same players Sherwood has managed to get 8 or 9 from in 5 games!
  15. I can't imagine this will do our 'safe standing' idea much good. Fantastic result, Sinclair excellent, Gabby good, Okore decent, N'Zogbia looked decent. We need to keep that up, we definitely look much dangerous now.
  16. In truth, Tom Fox did the appointing here, Lerner had nowt to do with it from what you read
  17. I don't think I'm alone in thinking it's entirely plausible that we won't win again this season.
  18. It's the basics we seem to struggle with, for professional footballers they are incredibly poor at getting the simple things right
  19. Newcastle are terrible, so they're obviously going to dominate us and win 3-0. I hate saying it, but we just love making teams on a bad run look good!
  20. Anybody who thinks dropping Guzan for Given will help our cause is forgetting 1 simple thing. With Shay Given, you lose pretty much all aerial ability defending crosses. He is terrible in the air. At least now Guzan catches stuff, imagine how much easier it would be if attackers had even more free headers in the box.
  21. The planned protest was against Lerner yesterday, not Lambert, wasn't it? So what are you talking about? Also, supporting the eleven players on the pitch (hoping to inspire them to win, or even score) is different to supporting the manager. No doubt you were at the game yesterday? And no doubt you were one of the fans getting on the players' and manager's back, during the game, when we still had a chance to get an equaliser. A protest against Lerner, because he shows no care for the club, by continuing to employ a poor manager...but yeah, nothing to do with Lambert... No, I wasn't at the game and no, I haven't been since September last year, simply because I've wasted a huge amount of money watching absolute crap for the last 4 years. I'm not going to follow out of blind faith...the club has been detached from what the fans want for a while now, so I don't feel the loyalty towards the club like I used to. The club know they will always have support so don't care what we think.
  22. If you attended the game and chose not to protest, yet are still screaming for Lambert to go, you don't really have grounds to complain. You turned up and did what was asked, you stood by the players and manager and supported them again...look where it got us. Another defeat, another goalless game, another performance riddled with errors and another terrible performance (in the main part). There were a few positives that will paper over the cracks in the eyes of the club...they don't need to take any action, why should they, the majority of people still turned up to support, so they can't be that bothered. When/if we do finally get a win, it will set the 'Lambert Pressure Guage' back to zero, which will just be putting off the inevitable as we will probably have another awful run a few games later. The club is dying, Lambert will take us down. LambertOut! But it won't happen, not now, not before the end of the season, probably not even then...regardless of the league we end up in.
  23. People saying there are 3 worse teams are in denial... We are only off the bottom because of a few sterling defensive displays when we won a few games by a goal to nil...
  24. He's the manager, we have struggled to score for a while now, the manager is tasked with sorting this out, he hasn't... Of course you can fault Lambert for it, we are and have been woeful for pretty much the duration of his tenure...
  25. Are people still kidding themselves that there are 3 teams worse than us?! How many other teams have been on not 1 but 2 runs of 8 hours plus with out a goal?! He should get the boot, he won't get the boot, we will lose next week, he should get the boot, he won't get the boot...lather rinse repeat Support the protest or not, but somehow, the club need to listen to us...
