  1. Doing his best to make sure no one pays that release clause.
  2. Its Lambert's team, coached by him and his team for 2 and a half years.
  3. Awful awful awful. But not his team. Good luck for next year tim. I have faith it will be better.
  4. And hoping the manager doesn't **** up either. I dont believe he's in full control of transfers, so yes as long as the money isn't wasted we should be looking good.
  5. Then we need it to be a few years ago before FFP. An owner cannot put any more money in than Randy has already been doing. The ONLY way we can spend more is to bring more in, and cut costs elsewhere. How do people not grasp this yet. It's got nothing to do with Lerner. It hasn't got much to do with him currently choosing to put money in but its got massively to do with him in terms of how much we can spend. As fox said Its not just on the pitch but off it we've been run poorly but he had our best interest at heart so we forgive him. The guys an awful owner and has set the club back years. I hope we can start to catch up before we become a regular bottom half club fighting for survival each year.
  6. If Lerner does the right thing we could be looking at spending £40 million this summer. I'm excited what we could pontentially do. Its all down to Lerner, this is a real test for how much he actually cares.
  7. Well the first step will be how much Lerner allows to be spent. That's the first concern.
  8. Yeah think that's clear. Why else would he have signed. He would want to set himself up to leave at some point.
  9. Come on, people don't really believe interested clubs wouldn't already know that? You dont think his agent would mention it? I think a deal is on the cards and Sherwood is setting us up for their was nothing we could do to stop it.
  10. Do you not think any interested clubs already knew? Benteke was always going to leave, he's far too good for a team that's finished near the bottom for 4 consecutive seasons. Let's get as much as we can and make ourselves stronger.
  11. As long as the fee is reinvested a long with any money we were planning to spend we should be fine. The chances of that happening with Lerner still looking to sell are probably slim though.
  12. The last 4 years we've failed to reach the points total we achieved under Doug and DOL in their final year. Its been incredibly bad, so while yes it could be worse (considering we finished 17th it was very close to be much worse) I don't think its something we should be so grateful for. Also I don't remember much demand for him to spend a fortune. We were very happy with the bent signing, I don't remember much complaining about the money given to McLeish and the initial window under Lambert was met with positivity on the whole. I refuse to believe that the only way to get to this position was the way we've done. Consistent bad managerial decisions led to more wasted more and continued lower league finishes. I'd imagine this has made us a harder sell at the price he wants. I also don't think the argument he has the clubs interest at heart holds much weight. I believe the same could be said for McLeish and Lambert, but it means nothing when you're doing such a terrible job. I'll remember the initial joy he brought but the last few years have ruined his reputation and the bad times under Lerner will be remembered far more than the good. I could never have imagined these last 5 years would happen so soon after he arrived. Shows what an awful owner he is when the majority of his time here have seen such a poor performance in the team. Hopefully this is the end.
  13. What will you miss about him?
  14. Not seeing why this means football is shit.
  15. You're joking with that right? Why would I be joking? Giving the job to Sherwood wasn't such an amazing out the box decision that Faulkner wouldn't have possibly have thought of it, it was the most obvious move to make. Nah, only super guru Tom Fox knew of Sherwood Unlike QPR and west brom he saw something in him and more importantly, knew Lambert had to go. That's something that I doubt Faulkner would have decided in time to save us.
  16. We really need to get rid of this guy this summer. A bit late to tell us you should have sold up years ago. It's been clear for years he'd lost interest in us and that there was no other plan than keep costs low and stay in the league. Terrible owner.
  17. If Faulkner was still here we'd have been relegated and Lambert would still have a job.
  18. A well written piece by a supportive journalist won't make me forgot how badly this club has performed for a long time or the record breaking things we've had to watch. I'm glad he's admitted he's failures, but words mean nothing when the club is barely surviving each year. Takeover doesn't look promising then, and reading his lack of interest in us now makes me slightly concerned for the budget Sherwood will now be given. As soon as we can move on from Lerner the better.

We're going to go through fit to train but not match fit again? It can happen.
  20. I would be absolutely thrilled if that was the case, as for all his faults, Lambert spent money pretty well all things considered. Agree but I meant in terms of money spent rather than quality. I think Sherwood will be given more to spend due to our better financial situation.
  21. I'm confident that even without a takeover we will still spend better, in both wages and fees, than we did during lamberts time at the club
  22. He could say this without making a silly comment about foreigners and calling his players losers. True, if he wasn't our manager and his thread was in other football he'd be ridiculed for this, and rightly so. He was ridiculed on here before becoming our manager. Who gives a shit when he's doing his job well? Yes, but he's not perfect. Pointing out where he isn't perfect, as well as pointing out where he's done well isn't a crime. So odd that nobody is allowed to criticise. I find it odd that some want to criticise so much. Yep. There's going to be a lot of lazy links and poor journalism this summer. We will be linked to a load of English and ex spurs players.
  23. He could say this without making a silly comment about foreigners and calling his players losers. 24. No problem with it. As zatman said he wasn't speaking about foreign players being losers and after a points run of 38, 41, 38, 38 I've got absolutely no problem with him calling some of the squad he wants to get rid of losers. Its been an abysmal run and everything he talks about it towards this club not being in this position again. I'm glad our manager is talking like this. I want to hear that he knows some of this squad aren't good enough.
