Well Bruce showed he was capable of promotion at previous clubs. How did that work out.

Good lord. We paid him 80,000 pounds a week to help him get fit. We really are a joke of a club at times. Thanks Steve.

I think that ignores the massive impact having a shit keeper has. Losing johnstone for nyland was an incredible step down in talent.

Lerner said a lot of things. He certainly didn't have a long term plan. When i say build something long term that doesn't mean smith stays regardless of results. But these quick fixes have done nothing but cement us a championship team. Its time for something different.

No your're right. Lets go for another gamble to try and fix short term issues. That's worked so well all these years.

Well we weren't hard to beat this season. And we weren't hard to score against. And that is what smith has inherited

Wow. So you'd prefer bruce because dean smith doesn't do defence. Yet we concede the same amount under smith. Good logic.

I felt the squad was good enough to seriously challenge for promotion on paper, hindsight and the evidence of games has shown me that was wrong to view that early on in the season. The squad are better than they are currently showing under smith but it really is a mess. Lots of old players on massive contracts, defence a shambles and relying on a loan striker to score goals. The decisions Bruce made and his failure to gain promotion has caused issues that will take time to fix.

The defence is a huge mess though. I believe only rotherham have conceded more. That's a massive hurdle for the rest of the squad to overcome.

He was massively underperforming, built nothing that resembled a plan, played a large role in the summer financial issues and deserved to be sacked.

There is probably an argument for it. He certainly didn't leave much of a foundation to build from, given the money he spent and the amount of players signed.

Probably not top 2 but it was underperforming. It still is. It's also seriously weak in certain areas, has massive wages being spent on players either sitting on the bench, the stands or playing poorly and will need massive work in the summer due to expiring contracts and loans. Bruce left a **** mess. A mess with some talent in areas but an absolute mess.
