We've already reached the point where some are negative towards Grealish as a way to moan about the manager. What the hell is so offensive about Smith that they have turned this quick? -
We have shipped slightly less goals than under Bruce. In defence of smith, he was left with a defensive mess thanks to bruce. A shocking keeper, elphick out on loan, chester playing injured and then axel gets injured. Like you say, his signings have improved on areas we needed.

What about elphick on loan, axel at rb and jedinak as cb? Signing keeper who would struggle in sunday league games? Paying Bolassie 80,000 a week so he could get fit?

If we are 9 pts off 2nd at the end of january, i'd say Smith was doing a very good job regardless of who counts it as challenging or not.

Who cares? Surely the aim is more than just finishing slightly higher than 10th.

Well compared to the start of the season under Bruce, we average more goals per game, we concede on average less a game. We have had some excellent performances and his signings in one window have been positive improvements. Apart from that, yeah nothing.

I think part of the issue is it became pretty clear in that first season we would struggle to achieve promotion in a short spell under him. There was nothing being built, no real consistency and a reliance on kodjia to get us points. Ultimately those that had little faith in what they saw were proved correct. The expectation now is not to just have short term fixes and hope for the best. Its a different era, a different approach and that's going to cause it to be judged differently.

From the team that beat boro and smashed them, only 4 of them appeared against stoke. Its not just one player. There have been changes to the team and that takes time and will clearly have an effect.

Well the first evidence i would say is the january window. Bruce was able to go out and sign lansbury, hourihane and Hogan, 3 players who were performing well, 2 of them performing as some of the best in the league and spent a fair amount. That to me suggested the club felt it wad very much on the cards. Smith has plugged holes in the squad, with some decent players but not in the same way. I believe purslow or someone else have said that promotion isn't a necessity this season and mentioned the long term aim of lowering the average age of the squad.

I've thought about that, and probably could be classed as hypocritical in some ways. I guess for me the difference is the job they've been hired to do. Bruce was hired with the aim of going up that year and he was seriously backed in january. Smith has come in with the idea of lowering the age of the squad and building something long term. For me, and some may think i'm a hypocrite, that is the difference in my view.

The article is online (express and star) He mentions different players in different situations (assuming players who know they won't be here) and that when things start to go wrong players start playing for themselves as individuals and not for the team.

And he will have played a part in causing that. The man wasted our financial advantage as a relegated team and built nothing that could form the base for another push. After wasting that advantage we now find ourselves in the situation where we have to now replace numerous players and try again. That is shocking from him and dr fraud. I don't get how people can just shrug it off.
