Today was a much better performance than previous weeks.

I haven't got a massive issue with barry getting a cheer. However I have got an issue with him getting clapped off after we have already booed/mocked our own player, who is going through a poor run of form. That's **** up and we look like idiots.

I understood it the year we went down, there were players that were truly disgusting in their attitude. But this isn't that. He is out of form, but come on, if we are turning on a decent player out of form what hope is there for us? We then gave barry, a bloke who tried to force a move away, a **** standing ovation.

Not sure what is so deluded. We missed 2 sitters and hit the bar, while having much more of the ball. They seemed to score a freak first goal and pounced on a mistake.

He failed, under achieved and left an utter mess. Doesn't surprise me that you respect this.

I wonder if those early fantastic performances have done him more harm. Raised expectations on him very quickly.

What did it get us? A huge mess that sees us in the same league for another year. Brilliant stuff.

He wasn't terrible wednesday night. I think the above highlights our problem. If Whelan is above others in those stats its no wonder we can't keep the ball, or create decent chances. He wasn't the major issue, our midfield is woeful at the minute and him being the best of a bad bunch shows how desperate we are for change

What options? Adomah, who has looked done at this level for the last 12 months. Kodjai, an out of form striker who can only get in the team out wide El Ghazi, who has moments but is very inconsistent. Green, young potential but struggled to play regular football in league 1. Where are these amazing options out wide?

Excellent post. Smith may be the wrong choice, may end up failing but if we don't commit to a more long term approach we will continue generating mess after mess as we have done for far too long now.
