  1. Birmingham I can understand, but Coventry like to think Villa fans care about them.
  2. Centre backs called Jordan. Hmm... have to research.
  3. Because it's mostly Villa fans posting - shows you how little interest there is in Lesta even on their own site. Applause to the WU merchants. Good job.
  4. He keeps changing avatars. He's had don'tdoitdoug's as well.
  5. Francois Piraux ‏@F8Piraux 1h1 hour ago DONE DEAL : #FCNantes midfielder Jordan #Veretout is an Aston Villa player. Official announcement soon. We talk about 10M€ + bonus. #AVFC French football journalist on twitter.
  6. One post says - 'Don't rate anyone who would prefer to join Villa after their last few seasons.' Remind me, how did Lesta perform in their last few seasons? Not even in the same division as Villa! Deluded.
  7. Are we getting new players to hold the shirt with Father Ted now?
  8. Found this article. Sorry if it's a repost. http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2015/a-gffn100-profile-jordan-amavi/
  9. He didn't choose to sell Delph and Benteke. The release clauses took the matter from his hands. Cleverly didn't depart - he was out of contract from another club. He was never ours. The other players are retained/recalled because Sherwood can't shift them because these are our contracted players. He would probably shift some/all but you can't sell if nobody wants them.
  10. Now he'll be Fabian Shelf. Not angry and him leaving. It's a blow, but hardly unexpected given his questioning Micah Richards about what life is like at Citeh. He did sign a contract which meant he didn't leave for free - respect to him for that. My problem is the garbage he spouted when he signed his new deal. He made representations that made Villa fans believe he'd adopted the club as a club he truly loved. Pretty two-faced of him to behave as he has.
  11. Benteke to Liverpool? Nonsense. Don't people know you have to play for Southampton first?
  12. He managed to switch the play around to cope with Gabby's absence. That was terrific. We're not as one-dimensional as I'd feared. A terrific day today. First because of the obvious. Second because the faith he's shown in Grealish has produced something special.
  13. I've felt that the praise he's previously received has been for his undoubted talent, not his performances. Today it's all been for delivering results for Aston Villa. He was superb today. I just hope this isn't one good game then nothing. If he builds on it, there's a fantastic player for Villa's future.

    Carles Gil

Carles is a guy who skipped past Oscar and Ramires against Chelsea and scored that magnificent goal against Bournemouth. Really hope Sherwood creates a style of play and organises the team to use his considerable talents. In Lambert's last days here he was the one bright spot at the whole club. To do that so quickly and so young, what a terrific player.
  15. Exactly. Not being keen on the appointment doesn't mean hoping he'll fail. I hope he becomes the greatest manager in our history. I say that about every manager and everybody who loves the club should not think otherwise. To those that are keen, I respect your right to your opinion and perhaps you are completely correct. I see a manager who can certainly be a good motivator, but is untried at building something. This club is a big job - in more than one sense.
  16. Ever skeptical of the love for Mr Sherwood, I took a look at a prominent Spurs forum. The view was skewed towards laughing at us. I wonder what they see that so many in this thread don't? Maybe it's desperation that blinds us to the obvious - he's a man of little experience whose gilet-chucking and inviting a fan to sit on the bench might amuse some, but only reveals him to be a quick-buck rainmaker. A self-promoter and headline grabber with little to suggest he has a bright managerial future. I think this is a poor appointment. Sherwood is a man who seems most gifted at building 'Brand Sherwood' - the big mouth, tough-talking cockney Clint Eastwood. That gets him media attention, which links him to jobs, which gets him media attention, which links him to more jobs. As one Spurs fan put it, Sherwood is the biggest confidence man around.
  17. 9 points puts us 12th in the table. So would 6. I think we're a mid-table side and better than all above us up to Everton (each team playing their best players).
  18. 28 games worth of experience, never bought a player, has no experience in building a squad, and he's an absolute bellend It's a far bigger gamble than we should be taking And a realistic alternative is... Sam Allardyce He said realistic..... Big Sam would walk here on his hands to be our manager.... So would Peter Reid. I bet I know who would get here first...
  19. Thomas Tuchel, Jocelyn Gourvennec, Remi Garde, Prandelli, Paco Jemez, Frank de Boer. These are some of the names that I hope are in the frame for the job long-term. I would prefer someone with top flight experience in another country to bring a fresh approach. I don't think the Dyches/Warburtons of this world are frankly big enough for this club. It is a massive club that still commands respect in football. I don't think the performance of whatever 11 players represent it at any one time ever changes that. I don't think an 'up and coming' manager from the lower leagues would work for the club - it's easy to see managers just shrink into that dugout because of the pressures of such a big club. My favourites from the above would be Prandelli, Jemez and de Boer. The place needs changing and I feel a statement of intent should be made with the appointment. That could be the ripple effect that sets us going back up the table. This squad of players is much better than the current position.
  20. It's not just his ability I like, it's his attitude. Superb signing.
  21. Shakhtar have had a bid accepted so we're definitely out of luck.
  22. I noticed he'd bulked up too. He's shaping up to be a bigger threat this season.
