  1. Rogers joining in January and having 10 yellow cards already is crazy
  2. Sometimes I wonder if Saka is the new Wolverine, they way he quickly recovers from mortal injuries
  3. They also have City to play and we got that out of the way. Their loss to Newcastle is equivalent to us losing at Brighton, so that's still definitely possible.
  4. Look at it this way, I'm sure it'll make us a lot more focused now. Don't see the same happening against Bournemouth or Chelsea now. We are locked in. It's all about grinding out a result away to Brighton imo. Hopefully we can keep our unbeaten run up against them
  5. If we lose to Arsenal and Liverpool as is pretty much expected. 3 wins and a draw from the other 4 should see us through to 4th. We went on a similar run at the end of last season. I know Unai can pull it off. We got this
  6. Shows how important getting CL even for one season is. This huge revenue that Spurs have amassed over the past 15 years is a direct result of them finishing 4th in 2010 (notably at our expense) and establishing themselves in the made up "Big 6". We need to do something similar otherwise we'll always struggle getting our revenue up anywhere near our hopeful rivals.
  7. I would love to be in the CL for the spectacle of it of course, but oddly I'm more concerned with our finances and how simply being in the competition can help us to that end, hopefully in the medium term as well. I would forego all of that to win the ECL though of course.
  8. Sounds like West Ham are under the cosh. Hope they can hold out for a draw.
  9. Unai really showing faith in Rogers. Should be a huge shot of confidence for the lad. From playing against Plymouth to starting against Lille in the space of a few months.
  10. H150T sounds like a pickup truck model. I don't know what's been going on with the branding side of things, but they've been having a mare. I take back everything I've said about Our slow. I love our limited time only round badge now.
  11. We've won something like 70% of the games he's played in. Seeing the comments in the last few pages has me baffled. Are all football fans like this or is it just Villa? If we lose it's like the end of the world and everyone is shit. It's like people expect football to save their week/weekends and when it doesn't they just lose it.
  12. Gotta tell Dougie to leave it all out on the pitch in these 2 legs because he's not playing PL football for 2 weeks.
  13. It was a good night. City are likely winning this tie now. Germany didn't pull away from us, and we still have us, West Ham and Liverpool to play to swing things in our favour. While Germany's only "easy" game is Leverkusen's. Don't see Dortmund getting anything at Madrid tomorrow.
  14. To think they settled for him after missing out on Mudryk
  15. Really shows how far we have to go yet
  16. Seeing 2 teams with 90%+ passing accuracy, shows the level these teams are playing at.
  17. Should be a yellow for Haavertz
  18. Running the show at the Bernabeu for the second season running
  19. Didn't they finish 5th twice under Martin Jol just a couple of seasons prior?
  20. 6th? How do you figure? Worst case scenario we're 3 points behind 4th and 8 points (and far superior GD) ahead of 6th with games in hand played. Also why are this weekend's events any more significant than last weekend's, or next's? Does your outlook on the future change on a game to game basis?
  21. None of these bar Spurs at home were big games. For the first one we'd have only been top for 1 night. Literally meaningless. You can't bottle anything at Christmas. The season didn't start and end yesterday. We've been putting pressure on Spurs all season, and have 6 games to continue to do so. Were we mentally strong when we beat Wolves, while Spurs were dropping points? This was all of 1-2 weeks ago. This mentality stuff is something we're using to rationalize our disappointment. This is the strongest Villa team I've witnessed. We almost always follow up a defeat with a win, and almost always hold onto leads. These things are quantifiable. "We didn't win at X point in the season when Y made up scenario was on" is not unfortunately.
  22. Wasn't this the second time all season we've dropped points from a winning position? We're literally the most resolute team in the league in this regard.
  23. I'm not talking about individual results. I was of course disappointed with the result in isolation. I was referring to those posts about how we've "bottled" top 4. Top 4 was never ours to bottle in the first place. No sane person had us finishing in the top 4 and also winning a European cup. That's a season beyond our wildest dreams. Yet the dream is still on. You wouldn't know it from the way some of our fans are going on.
  24. This thread is insane. It's been almost 15 years since we finished 6th, let alone 5th or 4th. We haven't bottled anything, it's been a tremendous effort for us to even be in this position where we are still in with a good shout for 4th with 6 games to go. Also in a European quarter final to boot. This is the best season of my lifetime so far, even if it ends today. You would think we were Liverpool or something the way our fans go on.
  25. He pretty much played just like that against us but didn't have De Bruyne and Haaland with him
