  1. Keown mentioned him on MoTD last night. I'd rather have Lambert back. Statistically, Hoddle is the most successful ENGLAND manager since Sir Alf Ramsey
  2. No but he is inconsistant. He does well at one club and poorly at the next. Good spells: Boro, Twente (Mark I), Derby Bad spells: England, Wolfsburg, Twente (Mark II), Forest. It is clearly working at Derby, he should stay there. History suggests no basis to indicate that he'll carry that into his next club. Right men, he has ruled himself out. Apparently there is still bad blood between him and us over Lerner’s U-turn and subsequent hiring of AMcL. Also Paul Clement has ruled himself out of a move anywhere before the end of this season.
  3. I doubt Paul Clement is even an option. He declined the opportunity to even talk to the QPR board. “I’m very flattered to be linked with Queens Park Rangers, a club I supported as a young boy and for whom my dad played,” Clement told the Guardian. “It would be a real honour to manage that club at some point in the future. But, at this time, I’ve got no intention of leaving Real Madrid in mid-season.” source: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/feb/05/paul-clement-rules-out-qpr-job
  4. Pat Murphy on 5 live "The new Aston Villa manager will be recommended by the chief executive Tom Fox, with the owner Randy Lerner prepared to rubberstamp his decision. Lerner will not be part of the interview process. "Lerner operates out of New York and is hardly ever in Birmingham, as he comes to rely more and more on the advice of his fellow-American whom he appointed as CEO last September. It was Fox who recommended Lambert should be sacked after Tuesday night's defeat at Hull. "Fox will take soundings from Villa's director of recruitment Paddy Reilly and an inner circle of trusted colleagues before moving in on a target. Coaching expertise will be essential - Villa were short in that area during Lambert's tenure - and they won't be put off if their preferred candidate is with another club. "Although time is on Villa's side in that their next Premier League game is not until a week on Saturday when they are at home to Stoke City, Fox will want a swift appointment."
  5. He’ll be 23 in June. He’s on course to play more games this season than he has in his entire career to date. He has had a horrible time with injuries but has now at least built up a decent base match fitness level. As far as I know he has another year on his contract. We will have a new manager and he will hopefully be coming into pre-season fully fit for the first time ever. It will be his first & last chance to stake his claim if he stays fit. Best of luck to him. He could surprise a few people
  6. It was a huge mistake to let Pulis slip through our hands. [emoji25] Unemployed manager of the year.... How often does that happen?
  7. Mick McCarthy? I'm more than half serious
  8. Fergie is actually tight enough to consider a short term deal. [emoji48]
  9. So you believe Lerner does not care about money? With the new TV deal, relegation this season will have even more dire consequences for his investment in our club. We are on a treadmill to the Championship with PL at the helm. Randy cares too much about his millions to allow them slip away without a fight. I am sure they are currently assessing their options. Anything less than 2 wins in the next 2 games and he’s gone.
  10. I have never heard of a worse reason to keep someone in a job. Lambert is destroying the club on the pitch. QPR managed to get a first away win without a manager. I honestly think our lads would play better with Sid or Tony Mc in charge. By the way I would not heavily criticise Lerner for appointing Lambert. He did try for Martinez first and Lambert looked an ok option on paper. His football was always dour though. Mark Hughes was probably the best option, who’s knows what happened there. We need Lambert gone
  11. That's sounds your gona let him [emoji129]
  12. Sherwood could not be worse than Lambert.
  13. He has to go now. How can anyone think keeping him is not the most damaging option now?
  14. Think the new Prem TV deal will force Lerners hand. Its £100m for last place when that kicks in.
  15. Just terrible. It shouldn't be a surprise but I fell for some of the shite Lambert was spouting after Chelsea.
  16. I think our CBs is one of the only things he got right. Clark has had a great season. Okore has looked very strong since he got into the team. Vlaar, Baker and Senderos have all played well when fit. All 5 of our CBs have been good. We haven’t conceded too many goals relative to our league position. Besides the shellacking by Arsenal our defence has not been our problem. Our problems start a little further up the pitch!
  17. A 5-2-3? We'd get absolutely overrun in midfield. We'l get absolutely overrun in midfield no matter what formation we play. Best option is to bypass it altogether.
  18. Park the bus and hoof to the front 3 Guzan Hutton - Okore – Vlaar- Clark - Cissokho Westwood - Delph Gabby - Benteke – Sinclair Won't be pretty but we never are anyway. If we can keep them out for long enough we may get a chance on the hoof break
  19. I'm a ST holder, and though I'm sick of Lambert and would happily welcome a new manager, whenever I hear chants of 'We want Lambert out' or booing, it just makes me want to sing the usual supporting songs even louder, and often over the top of the people showing their anger. People like me will just see negative chants as counter-productive when they're sang during a game, while your team is trying to defend/build and attack or (unlikely) score a goal. I don't agree with worrying too much. If the players feel valued by the fans then I doubt a song or two against the manager will have any negative affect on them. I doubt it'll hinder our attack or defence if the fans are singing "We want Lambert out". If a negative song or two, not even about them, is belted out once in a while, and it really does impact them psychologically then I'd seriously question their mental strength for playing top level football. I don't remember this much fan restraint in giving what for during the final days of McLeish. It is mystifying. It's almost as though fans lambasted McLeish just because he came from SHA and not for his competence as a football manager. I hope that is not the case as it would suggest a level of small mindedness. Welcome to Aston Villa!
  20. Only Lambert (and O'Neill, and MacDonald, and Houllier, and McAllister, and McLeish) He wasn't a nailed on starter under Houllier or McAllister.
  21. Bring Stuart Gray back. At least he'd be glad to take the job, financial restrictions or not
  22. The lad would make Mido look dedicated to the cause. He really doesn’t give a toss. Maybe injuries contribute to this but it would take a huge turn around in attitude for him to make the grade in a top European league again.
  23. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/more-aston-villa-shirts-sold-8495768 Wonder gave they all Clark & Grealish on the back?
