  1. His off the ball closing down was excellent, as well as his movement. To walk on in a game full of intensity like that and hold his own......he's going to be a star and needs minutes. On the bench every week please and starts cup games.
  2. On that clip you miss the beginning of the interview where he talks about Gerrard Houllier and what he did for his career. At this point he looks like he wells up a bit (understandably) which I think just carries over in to the rest of the interview.
  3. Whatever league in the world, going through a whole season unbeaten is an incredible achievement.
  4. I'm optimistic, Dean was just a romance, his results over last 12 months, lack of style of play, lack of in-game management ability was always going to be exposed and unlike many, I saw he had come to the end of his abilities. The timing has been perfect, he has done his job, now we move on. Gerrard will command respect in the dressing room and that is task number 1, as without it the rest of what needs to be implemented won't be possible. He hasn't failed at Rangers, so there's no legacy to moan about (even though many still will) and he knows taking this job on will decide how the rest of his managerial career will pan out, so I applaud him for his confidence. He will be backed, I think players will be higher calibre than Dean was capable of and he clearly has a system he likes to use, which I'm praying actually consists of utilising space in the middle of the park, not just getting it to the wing as fast as possible or hoofball. I like the air of mysticism around this appointment. Many of our past managers we have all known wouldn't work, with SG, no-one can say what is to come, he has only been successful so far. Can't wait to see what he can do!! UTV
  5. We've been to Rotterdam and Everywhere, Liverpool and Rome, But now we're throwing Cabbages, Cabbages at home
  6. Ambition is what sells a club when trying to convince a higher calibre of manager, player or tea lady to sign. If the owners are looking to pump in ambitious amounts of money once promotion is gained, then I think managers like Rodgers, Howe or a foreign manager like Nuno did at Wolves, would certainly entertain a conversation of dropping down to the championship if there was a long term plan that meant they had a crack at the top 6 of the premier league. For me, we have that capability, it depends just how much the owners are willing to part with on this project. I didn't blame them at the time for sticking with Bruce, even though I wanted him gone then, I see why they wanted to take stock and patiently build from the bottom up. I would rather they took measured decisions. Only time will tell, but if we are serious about success at the highest level, I do think we can attract a top manager, who is stagnant at their current club due to hitting the limit of that clubs expenditure or pull, will be willing to start from where we are.
  7. It was only a matter of time. Most Journos don't actually watch a game, so it's just stats and relationship based what they write. As soon as one actually wastes 90 minutes of their life watching this terdball, they realise what we're put through every week.
  8. Any boos or chanting for his head from the supporters?
  9. Opposition managers must look at our team and see them play, then think ‘if that potatoe head has been given the job, surely I could have a crack’.
  10. So after moaning we don’t create enough chances for our strikers, we move a forward to the wing, who is known as selfish and greedy? That’ll improve the situation no end. And AEG is obviously already a proven replacement after 2 games. Without Albert we’d have struggled to make play offs last year, can’t believe the loyalty we show, may be he goes to boro and sets up another 15 goals and scores 5 and they go up? 20 goals in assists and goals scored is average obviously, and after 5 games this year of the tinker man shifting the squad all over the place, he’s not good enough for us. Are we talking about the same team?
  11. Brilliant post mate, well done. Bolasie - great player, serious fitness/injury concerns. El Ghazi - played 2 games, 1 against Burton where he was not convincing. yeah, lets get rid of that average player, we’re sorted on the wing ??
  12. Omg!! Seriously? Loan our only other winger now green has gone, who got 15 assists last year, to a rival!? We have no cover. i bet all the ones saying get rid are the ones moaning about CB cover! Watched from the sidelines on this forum for ages, but had to post now, if he goes that’s the worst decision of the window. Elmo isn’t a winger, next we’ll have Hutton left wing. shouldn't say that should I, if Steve is reading it might put ideas in his head.

    Adama Traore

Doesn't it make sense to announce and unveil him tomorrow? Few hours before the game, everyone's buzzin, mad atmosphere, smash United, jobs a good un.

    Adama Traore

BBC: A word from BBC West Midlands here: Tim Sherwood is set to make his 10th signing of the summer with the addition of Adama Traore from Barcelona. As things stand the deal could be completed today but may go over into tomorrow. No problems are expected. The Aston Villa boss has just begun his news conference. We'll bring you any updates as they drop.
  15. Who cares how he goes about his management, I couldn't care less if he used Barbies and Kens to show formations etc. If he gets us playing and we are successful then his methods, no matter what they are, work for him. I shouldn't really be surprised should I, OTT reactions are commonplace on VT.
  16. Collymore must have just read that article and jumped on the bandwagon knobead I'm gettin some dosh on if these odds go longer
  17. Thats just a twist of his words from that interview, nothing new to see here. Situation is still the same, if he gets offered the Villa job, then I think he's ours. One thing this is doing is putting pressure on AVFC to move fast, as this pressure he's getting over in Norway is unfair and its also unfair to leave him in the balance while this is going on. If they are going to interview Lambo or anyone else, they ought to get it all done by mon/tue at the latest.
  18. I honestly think the united job is already Guardiolas. I think this will be Fergies last season in charge and when pep has had his 12 month booze fuelled orgy in Thailand, he will take over at UTD. He has always been up fergies arse and complimentary of united, so I think the writings on the wall.
  19. Sheesh, he really is young isn't he. Who's the guy carrying him? Thats Legolas, apparently we hired an elven hitman. Lerner really is pulling out all the stops.
  20. Breaking news: despite their best attempts, OGS has been seen being sneaked through the airport terminal:
  21. so basically no one knows feck all and we are where we were this morning still. Theres planes going to Norway with Randy on, then not, then the plane is going without randy etc. Has anyone actually got anything even a little bit solid that OSG has even been talked too as from reading this all day, its quite possible he hasn't even been approached!
  22. I was wondering the same thing ??? Randy takes off in plane = Ole Gunnar Superstar Whats not to understand??
  23. I can't believe you all aren't going mad for this guy, he is head and shoulders above Poyet and the rest. This guy is the next big thing, no doubt. Let me give you a run down so far of his career: First Job in England was Wycombe, where he got them to the league cup semis, beating premier teams Fulham and charlton along the way, in the semis he even managed a draw with Chelsea at home before losing away. This was the first time in over 30 years a fourth tier team had got this far. He resigned from this position when they just missed out on the play offs. He went to Colchester next and was there less than a year, the team flirted with the play offs but missed out in the end. On the opening day of the following season, colchester beat Norwich 7-1. Norwich sacked Bryan Gunn after that defeat and Lambert left colchester and became their manager. In that season, he took Norwich straight up from league 1, winning the division, which is pretty impressive in your first season in charge (look at how we all say, 'well you need a pre-season and a season to get to know your squad, then bring in new faces blah blah). Then he went straight through the championship coming second, becoming one of very few teams in history to achieve successive promotion and the first since man city 11 years before. During Lamberts first two season in charge HE NEVER LOST TWO GAMES IN A ROW. Also Lambert's record in East Anglian Derbies (including his time as Colchester manager) stood as played 6, won 4, drew 1, lost 1, scored 25, conceded 7. This season they have won 11, drawn 10 and lost 14 scoring 47 and conceding 60. When you look at the team, there are still players from league 1 in there and they really aren't premier league players on paper, indicating like MON, he can get players to play above their station. They are safe and he has done all this on a shoestring budget. I think you could buy their team twice over for the price of benty. In my opinion, this guy has learnt his trade very quickly, starting in the lower leagues and then propelling a team that was on the slide through two divisions and easily securing safety in the top tier with the team with the weakest players in the league by a mile. They are attractive to watch and hard to break down. Man city have smashed them twice this year 5-1, but I reckon that top quality teams are just a bit too much sometimes, they have beaten spurs, newcastle, swansea and alot of teams we haven't. (thats not hard tho eh!?) You want a proven up and coming manager who can work on a budget, get the best from players, is a good professional and won't touch other clubs emblems or park the bus every time we play an 'elite' club? Well heres our man guys, this boy could get us striaght back up that table and I don't wanna sound like the general, but imagine what he could do if he was given some good backing in the market?? Make ni mistake, Villa are still one of the biggest clubs in the country and as always, could this man awaken the giant yet again? He is my no 1 realistic target by a mile and IF Lerner got him, that would go along way to getting me back onboard and a step that says our chairman is learning the hard way, but lerning all the same. (see what I did there? Lerning? ok, ill get me coat )
