  1. Hallelujah!! Its a mircale. Carlo can raise the dead. Praise be. :notworthy:
  2. Turns down Rome from Birmingham. The poor bastard. He's clearly mental. I **** love him more :likeit:
  3. Remember how we all felt when MON joined. How excited we were. Imagine that multilpied by the number of trophies he has won in proper leagues if we got Carlo.
  4. Downing yes, but i think sadly the Young' boat has already sailed. Why do we need to "persuade" Downing to do anything? He's got 2 years left to run. Can't we just say "Stay put you little **** and be grateful for it." and if he doesn't put 100% into every game, get the General to remove the plate in his foot with some pliars.
  5. Tbh all that report says is that we haven't contacted him...... yet. Doesn't say we won't or aren't interested.
  6. Also think that someone like Moyes would be cheaper in terms of wages - but would involve compensation. Surely better to add that likely payment to a bigger salary for Carlo?
  7. The London Standard is a reliable source in Italy? Obviously not, sorry, wrong link. This is the one I mentioned: http://www.ansa.it/web/notizie/rubriche/calcio/2011/06/02/visualizza_new.html_841578863.html Translation ANSA)-London, 2 June-Carlo Ancelotti and 'the big favorite for the Aston Villa bench after the departure of Gerard Houllier, while Chelsea have finally got the''you''' Guus Hiddink. According to British bookmakers, and the technical Reggiolo 'the candidate' strong to lead the next season, Villas, preferred to Mark Hughes (Fulham) and David Moyes (Everton). Ancelotti would like but 'adequate reinforcements to point to the Champions League, after 9 / or place finish this year in the Premier dall'Aston Villa.
  8. Family connections..... Italian "ex-manager?" **Checks pillow for horses head**
  9. The London Evening Standard is reporting this lunchtime that Ancelotti managed to negotiate that clause OUT of the deal when they sacked him. The paper sees the Villa job as a straight fight between Ancelotti and Hughes. linky Presumably the negotiation being "This is clearly illegal - take it out"?
  10. Surely that can't be legally enforce-able? We'll sack you and pay you compensation but you can't work for a year afterwards? I'm not an expert on Employment Law but that HAS to be bollocks.
  11. That is both depressing and bloody fantastic. / You could also add "Dwight, from Salford" and "Mark" from a crack house to that list as well.
  12. Is there a danger with an Ancelotti type appointment that whilst it will undoubtably have us spaffing in our claret and blue knicikers, that it will actually raise expectations again? I want him to get the job but we will not then expect to finish in a CL spot next season, where surely the objective should be for us to return to our "level" of 5th/6th. That will be hard enough with Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and Villa all fighting for 3rd-7th place.
  13. That was the point I was trying to make. God no, I don't want Rafa.
  14. Carlo Ancelotti Juventus Intertoto Cup: 1 1999 Milan Serie A: 1 2004 Coppa Italia: 1 2003 Supercoppa Italiana: 1 2004 UEFA Champions League: 2 2003, 2007 UEFA Super Cup: 2 2003, 2007 FIFA Club World Cup: 1 2007 Chelsea Premier League: 1 2009–10 FA Cup: 1 2010 Community Shield: 1 2009 Mark Hughes Sweet F.A. No real arguement here is there? If we get Sparky, I'll back him because I think he's a capable pair of hands a safe option but if the club want to show ambition and get the good vibes around the place again, there is only one choice.
  15. This is the most important appointment for us in 5 years. The board need to send a statement of intent and back up everything they have said about 5 year plans and getting this wonderful, wonderful club back on top where we belong. IF we get Ancelotti - what will that say to Young and that utter clearing in the woods Downing about where we are wanting to go. Getting Carlo gives us the best shot of keeping our best players, and putting the club together again.
  16. Bob Bradley was similar odds pre Houllier. Means nothing except some dumb arse has dumped a couple of grand on it. Houllier came out of the blue, I think the next bloke will do the same. As long as its not Grant I'll be happy.
