  1. It’s not just the Mark/Logo/Badge is it? 1) In Aston Villa we have one of the most unique names in football but it’s been sidelined. They even struggle to include the word VILLA correctly. 2) Our colours are Claret & Blue, Not Claret & Gold with a bit of blue. ‘Who we are’ and tradition is important to many fans.
  2. This pixellation of the word VILLA is deliberate. This is the graphic used at the top of the ‘AV10 Landing Page’. It is embarrassing.
  3. When this logo/mark or whatever was first shown, I thought is was a joke. It looks absolutely shite, confused and amateur. That our historic and unique name Aston Villa is not writ large is a disgrace. When did our colours become Claret and Gold? Pixellating and only partly showing the word VILLA is yet more disrespect. It really pisses me off and is taking the shine off our success on the pitch. Our new ‘President of Business Operations’ is a **** clown! I have just received the following email from Heck with the above graphic: Hello Mike, 2024/25 will be our 150th Anniversary Season, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to share this milestone with you. I am absolutely delighted that today we are starting the 150 Day Countdown to the final game of this season against Crystal Palace in May, after which we will switch into our year-long celebration. My team and I are putting together a plan to deliver an unforgettable 2024/25 season that does justice to your beloved club, its storied history and pays tribute to all fans, players and custodians of Aston Villa past and present. To build up the excitement, as part of the 150 Day Countdown we have planned several highlights between today and May 2024: - In January, we will announce our 2024/25 Honorary Anniversary Board, a cross-section of former players, managers, community, fan and club representatives, who will work together to prepare our plans for next year - In early 2024, we will reveal our new club crest built from the input of 16,000 Villa fans - In the spring, we will share an update on our plans for our 2024/25 kit and merchandise - In May, we will formally kick off the anniversary at our end of season player awards dinner Hopefully you are as excited as I am for next year, and I can promise that 2024/25 will be packed full of anniversary events and opportunities to share in the celebration. In short, we will do everything we can to create something truly befitting of your great club and set the standard for similar anniversaries around the world. In the meantime, I’d love for you to share your memories of Aston Villa with us via our dedicated AV150 landing page. We’ll keep updating this as our plans develop, and we’ve also put together a timeline to remind us all of how the club has developed since our founding day back in November 1874. Until then, UTV! 4. Obviously taking a ‘wait and see’ approach. We already have a 30K waiting list. IF we were to do the incredible and pull off a PL win, demand will increase further at even higher prices. Also, hate to say it but it wouldn’t surprise me if they are discussing a move away from Villa Park.
  5. I know Unai has to rotate players but imho this was the wrong match to do it. Carlos was a disaster. Zanniolo was very poor. We were lucky to get a point.
  6. Worst referee this season. But we haven’t been good. Carlos as CB and Konsa as RB doesn’t work. Zaniolo has been very poor. Need Diaby to replace hime.
  7. Last night I was in a restaurant down here in Bournemouth chatting to a Gent (surname Price) who’s knocking on a bit, who I’ve known for over 20 years. I remembered he had vaguely told me previously that his great grandad was something to do with the Villa but didn’t get chance to ask him for detail. So, last night I asked in what way he connected and he said “my father told me he was on the original committee, one of the founders, name was Walter”. Walter H Price was one of the Villa’s ‘four founding fathers’ and our first captain in 1874. Needless to say I was made up! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_H._Price https://historyofsoccer.info/when_was_aston_villa_founded
  8. FA Cup without question. It has been devalued in recent years but it is the one English cup that fans can attend, follow and enjoy in their masses. There is no hiding the fact that the European Conference is a poxy competition and CL qualification isn’t winning anything.
  9. I was brought up in Bridge Road, Alum Rock about 2.5 miles from Villa Park. Lived in Brum till I was 30, now in Bournemouth. Had STs in every stand but now have two in the Trinity. Try to make all the home games but sadly don’t go away anymore.
  10. Hi John Thanks. I have the programme but not the Argus
  11. An interesting thing about the high defensive line strategy is that it effectively dictates the oppositions playing style. It forces their attackers to play in a very limited area of the pitch. However, I am sure that Emery will make a few tweaks against the likes of Man city as they are so good at running across the line.
  12. I went to my first match at Villa Park 64 years ago today. It was my 6th birthday and we beat Charlton Athletic 11 - 1 The scorers: The late great Gerry Hitchens - 5 The legendary Peter McParland - 2 Bobby ‘Dazzler’ Thompson - 2 Ron Wylie - 1 Jimmy McEwan - 1
  13. I am still not sure why it went so badly wrong yesterday, other than possibly we were too cocky going into the game. Being away from home, I wonder if the over confidence is skin deep? The number of times we lost one on ones was shocking and across the pitch we were easily knocked off the ball.
  14. I wouldn’t accept a draw. Our away form has not been great and we must win games like this.
  15. We seem to lack ideas. Playing it left or right to Digne/Cash just isn’t working. Zanniolo and Diaby are not linking up well with the full backs. It is all so predictable. Instead of passing wide I would like to see McGinn take a run into the centre and try to lay off to Watkins. Luis is not having a good game.
  16. I am a bit confused by this. I accept that injuries have stopped us fielding the best 11. However, from what is left, Chambers and Lenglet are definitely not in the ‘best 11’ nor arguably is Tielmans. I also believe things will improve in the 2nd half but I do not have ‘total faith’. We are still too inconsistent
  17. Same old story. Persisting with the high line when its ***** obvious Torres especially cannot play it. Like N’castle, L’pool have found us out. That said, if we can get one back in the 2nd, I think we could still get a draw. Liverpool are just as dodgy at the back.
  18. In The Times - online just now https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/leon-bailey-assisting-police-investigation-into-alleged-assault-on-fan-5dlbdkpjt Leon Bailey assisting police investigation into alleged assault on fan Charlotte Duncker Sources said the altercation centred around a supporter entering Bailey’s box, where his family — including his heavily pregnant partner and four-year-old child — were, asking for a picture and an autograph. Bailey, who scored in Villa’s first home game of the season, is understood to have declined the request for the photograph and subsequently an argument broke out. The player will fully cooperate with the police inquiry but sources are hopeful he will not have a case to answer to once all of the facts have been obtained. Bailey, who signed for Villa in 2021, provided the assist for John McGinn’s opening goal on Sunday afternoon before scoring his side’s third in the second half. Unai Emery was particularly impressed with the way the winger linked up with new signing Moussa Diaby. “Last week the connection between Diaby and Leon Bailey was not good but this week it was much better, but we have to continue working because Moussa Diaby needs time to connect and understand his team-mates perfectly,” the Villa manager said. Emery’s side travel to Scotland on Tuesday before their Europa Conference League play-off game against Hibernian on Wednesday night.
  19. Post on Linkedin by Tyrone Mings. He is being very positive!!
  20. Without doubt the ‘high line’ tactic worked for us last season. However, due to the N’Castle result,, loss of Mings, poor showing by Konsa and newness of Torres, imho Emery has to go back to the drawing board. While it wasn’t the sole cause of our hammering today, it is very worrying that N’castle worked us out and we looked very dodgy at the back. I sincerely fear that if he persists with the high line we are going to get tonked again as it will take some time for the newbies to settle
