Surely it is better that a manager is willing to replace his own signings if they don't work out? Yes, it may indicate his gambles with his budget have not worked and he's spent inefficiently, but I'd rather he tries to sign someone, short time or otherwise, to rectify that mistake rather than persist with his signings as he wouldn't want to admit he's spent inefficiently. Though if he did that I'd imagine there'd be complaints that he's too stubborn and unwilling to replace his signings.

Of course you can, but you should also wait to properly judge a signing until they've had a chance to show what they can do at the club. As for McLeish, personally I was willing to give him a chance and would have liked him to stay of IF he did well i.e. >10th, and I think it's just as silly to want a manager out before he's had a chance to do anything, as many wanted with McLeish.

It's a good goal, and I don't mean to be rude, but why have you posted this? There's no real context.

Watford were in the Premier League when we signed Young, and Young was regarded as one of their top players and was highly rated at the time and we beat off a few teams to his signing. Milner may have been struggling to get into the Newcastle side, but he'd been playing Premier League football since he was 16, and was very highly rated from the point he started playing for Leeds. Not proven in the sense that they might be now, but they were still fairly proven at the time and highly rated prospects.

Wouldn't mind seeing what he could do as one of the main men in a Premier League side, but he's not exactly flourished at Liverpool so could be a risk. As for wages, you're probably right about his wages at Celta, but he's at Liverpool now. When he moved there is no way his agent would've asked for the £15-20k pw he was on at Celta, he would've demanded a lot more. The only figures I can find are from Marca who suggest he signed a deal worth ~£40k pw, so to come to us I'd imagine he'd demand upwards of £50k, so out of our reach

Getting a bit bored of this fat and overweight thing now, lets use some facts shall we A quick look at Wigan website tells us that Grant Holt is 6'0" (182.8cm) tall and weighs 12st 6lbs (78.9kg). Using a quick google search to find a BMI calculator and we can work out that his BMI is 23.8, in the Normal range, and funnily enough, quite close to being underweight Plus, he's a pro footballer, so probably quite fit too. So no matter what you think of the signing, stop using this fat and overweight thing as the crux of your argument, because it simply isn't true

This is my view. Considering Lambert was our 4th manager (6th if you include McAllister and the one who was caretaker before, can't remember his name) in 4 seasons. We need some stability as constantly chopping and changing won't help.

Well no, we were either 1 point above the relegation zone or actually in it depending whether you look at after game 21 or game 22.

We was actually on 20 points (19th) 4 points off bottom of the league QPR. Sunderland were 11th on 29 points. 23 points last season would have got us to 16th 3 points of relegation zone. So to simplifie, we are only doing better cause other teams are much worst this season, so fact is no real improvement for Lambert im afraid! You've gone about 3 games ahead of this point last season.

Maybe, or the top half are better. At the same point, Utd were 7 points clear of City, who were 6 points clear of Spurs. 9th was only 11 points ahead of 18th, whereas this year 9th are 7 points ahead of 10th. This year 6th are only 8 points behind top, last year, 18.

Although there isn't much to be positive about at the moment, I'll try answer your question. 1 - Not been great recently, but we showed against Arsenal that we are capable of doing well against teams and playing some good stuff. 2 - We have, IMO, one of the best strikers in the league when on form, who finally scored and is starting to look like the Benteke we wanted to keep in the summer. We have, again IMO, one of the best GK's in the league. Also, Vlaar is probably our best CB we've had since Laursen. Delph has shown this season that he can be good when on form and Bacuna has been really impressing me recently. Others need to improve and are nowhere near as good as they can be like the end of last season. 3 - The transfer window isn't over. Yes, Holt is uninspiring and a transfer that you'd rather not happen, but he's not the worst signing ever. Remember players like Djemba-Djemba, Salifou and Berson have played for us within the last 10 years. Also, consider that last season, in a much worse position, we hit form after a similar (and IMO bleaker) period. All started by a good performance and a good goal by Benteke to start off his good form, despite not winning the game. Sound familiar?

Different type of player. Because 1 (the one he's replacing) has a broken leg, Helenius isn't the same type of striker as Kozak and still getting to grips with league, and Bowery is that great. Plus Gabby is utilised as a wide man as is Weimann (who's been cack all season). So I count 1 first team striker, 2 young backups and 2 wide men, plus one out for the rest of the season. Holt most likely won't start, he's a Kozak replacement. But you know, **** the logic behind the signing, let's slag off the club! We have identified a similar striker who would cost very little and probably on lowish wages. We signed him on a 6 month deal. He most likely won't start ahead of Benteke and is better than our current Kozak backup, Bowery. It makes sense. Or we could try actually playing football and use the players we have.
