  1. I think most students still think of home as where they are from, not where they study. I don't have a strong feeling about which they choose to register in. I've had a postal vote since I was a student. I don;'t understand why most people don't have one. An increasing circle of my friends have them now. It means you can fill them in at your leisure rather than doing something on a certain day.

    U.S. Politics

The constitution is there to ensure that the republic persists. It is not there to preserve democracy. The tyranny of the masses is a bad thing. It is the job of SCOTUS to be the legislative branch of the republic. Section 14.3 is utterly clear that someone involved in insurrection against the republic is disqualified. It is not for SCOTUS or the people to decide this. It can only be changed by amending the constitution. If Trump is on the ballot and loses, there will still be people claiming it was rigged, etc. They committed insurrection last time. This decision doesn't affect how they will behave. The founders wanted to ensure that anyone acting against the republic was disqualified forever. I think SCOTUS have made things worse, regardless of the next election result. At least if they followed the constitution, history might have looked more kindly on them.

The states do run their own "election systems". They always have. Citizens vote within their state and then members of the state electoral college votes for the president. They are supposed to vote according to the wishes of their electorate, but this is not required in law and different states do this part differently (some states have all electors vote for the winning candidate in their state, some vote reflecting the split of their electorate). This is the very core of at least one of the criminal cases he's fighting where he tried to install fake electors. The SCOTUS has decided that for article 14.3, the states do not run their own election. I can assume that a deal was done.

    Control

Are they much different to the Facebook app permissions? The app went from my phone as soon as it asked for microphone access at any time. and that was years ago. I returned a Sony phone because Facebook was preinstalled and couldn't be removed. It's the same argument as "Huawai 5G is bad" because the USA needs you to use Qualcomm so that it can access the traffic. It wouldn't be so bad, but if Trump wins I think I'd rather be spied on by China.
  5. Your ratings and reactions please. Keep it respectful even if you know everyone else is wrong. A mod will add the players to the MoTM poll later.
  6. UECL16: Villa v Ajax Please do not mention streams or streaming in this thread. Please note that there is no distinction between legal or illegal, video or audio. If you aren't sure, it doesn't go in this thread. You will receive warning points if you ignore this.
  7. Same. People smoking it doesn't bother me, but me being able to smell it is a problem.
  8. It's a lot more secure to use your phone for payments than to use a card. You have to hope your email client still has that email cached if you haven't got connectivity at the turnstile. If everyone that can use contactless, did use contactless, the queues wouldn't be as long. But the choice is yours and this is veering off topic.
  9. The wallet is already on your phone. If you have an iPhone you have an Apple wallet. If you have an Android you have a Google wallet. It's what makes contactless payments work. There is no third party. The ticket is stored locally on your phone. No network connection is needed to use it, once you've added it to the wallet.
  10. Or you could tap "add to Apple wallet" at the bottom of that screen.
  11. That can't be true. There's me for example. Boolies don't tout.
  12. Because we made them illegal.

Did you end up in the boardroom with Lord Amstrad after they all asked for a refund?
  16. I don't think that they want to promote loyalty. They want the churn so that new seats become available. I'm not saying that I agree with them. but their strategy appears to need available seats for GA+.
  17. As I understand it, you need ID to collect the ticket. It's not checked again at entry as that would cause chaos. What did you do with it?

  20. If you've managed to get an away ticket, someone you are drinking with in the Dam will have it.

    Smart Watches

WearOS watches use an eSIM. AIUI, you can have it cloned with your main number or it can be separate. Most networks offer eSIMs. Wouldn't it have been a good idea to ask this before purchase?

    U.S. Politics

At least part of the problem is that many of these polls are still conducted by phoning people. That will always lead to a bias favouring the opinions of older, more conservative responders.
