  1. The first sentence make you both agnostic and atheist. The second sentence confirms that you are agnostic and then that you are atheist. To be sceptic you require evidence before you believe a claim (and that the evidence must be proportional to the size of the claim). I suspect this does describe you although you word it the other way around.
  2. Jesus is a Roman god. The current presentation of the Jesus myth was codified by the Romans in the 4th century. The Romans were good at this. They recognised early that when they were planning to add territory to their empire (which they largely did by trade), they would show the locals that the god of the local lake was an aspect of Neptune. It made them less like strangers. If you've been indoctrinated from birth to believe in myths, it's hard to be enemies with people who share the same myths. Of course later you have to have wars because the other lot aren't worshipping Bacchus properly.
  3. The only word I can think of which sums up the position that I think you hold is "sceptic". At present that term hasn't become loaded with additional meaning.
  4. Your ratings and reactions please. Keep it respectful even if you know everyone else is wrong.
  5. Correct. They would be deists. You can start a different thread if you'd like to discuss deists or deism, but this is the all-purpose religion thread and is for discussing religion. Personally I don't see how anyone can believe in something which has been carefully contrived so that it is not falsifiable, but then I'm a sceptic and I value evidence and reproducibility.
  6. I once got involved with running a web site. Never again.
  7. I'm pretty sure that a life form from a totally different abiogenesis would not be mistaken for humans with wings, even by people of the iron age. Give their imagination some credit; there are dragons in the bible, one with seven heads and ten horns..
  8. That means that you infer something into the word "atheist" which is more than it means. An atheist is someone who doesn't believe in god(s). It isn't a "group".
  9. Your dreams aren't fully formed. Your subconscious creates a steady stream of "approximate" images as part of long term memory storage which sometimes your concious brain maps onto the things you see. I don't see how an individual having deja vu could be evidence of a god.
  10. Atheism is not a belief. It's the absence of a belief in any deity. It is the logical negation of a specific belief.
  11. Yeah, Alexa is a marketing focussed site.
  12. It's not possible to analyse visitor traffic without owning the site. He was probably looking at one of the sites like Alexa which do little more than guess at traffic.
  13. It's computer aids. The bad kind.
  14. But they were doing God's work and somehow believing in magic sky fairies makes it okay. I don't get why Catholics are so quiet about this.
  15. Ah. I've pretty much finished star wars and indy, barely started Batman. They are the only games I go back to after I've finished the storyline.
  16. I found this but I must admit, I was mixing up DVI and HDMI. My bad.
  17. There's a sticky in the main VT forum for those who remember Paddy.
  18. What games have you played and enjoyed? WoW, EVE, Skyrim. Finished Tombraider and Ni No Kuni in the last few weeks. Uncharted. I completed Half Life 2 in 4 days of release (my first Steam game). Many browser games. When I fire up the PS3 I'm as likely to pick up a Lego game as anything else.
  19. I return to the Lego games more than any other titles.
