  2. Who said "instead"? You can install more than one app on your phone or go to more than one web page. Notifications mean you don't even have to check both, just whichever has activity on it. Luckily, I'm not interested in what people made for lunch or what the Mail is hating on today or what sponsored posts I might be interested in or what someone's baby did which would have been funny if only I'd been there. My g+ feed is full of things which are actually interesting to me and is easy to filter for when I only want to read or write to groups like "kid's teachers" or "colleagues" or "family".
  3. social: plus.google.com im: hangouts.google.com and stop putting up with the inadequacies of facebook.
  4. ... says the guy with the US flag as his profile pic. No he doesn't. Possibly "a" US flag, but not "the" US flag.
  5. New Android version updated. Fixed bug: thread will show <br> tag when switch between pages. Fixed bug: cannot delete unapproved thread in moderation tab. Fixed bug: open pm from notification, it will go to wrong pm. Fixed bug: broadcast shows Tapatalk app icon and name. Fixed bug: when select a post to operate, some texts in action bar are not clear to read. Updated to use white texts and icons in action bar if app has customised color scheme. Updated translations.
  6. I have both, what do you want to know? (and I don't actually watch much TV).
  7. The database would go missing on a memory stick somewhere. Woops. There isn't much you can do with DNA at present. Once someone "loses" your iris scans or fingerprints, you're pretty screwed.
  8. When you followed the advice in bold red at the top of the forum, what happened?

Anywhere around Bewdley. I don't live here by random decision.
  10. It would have been nice if they'd invited VillaTalk this time.

  12. I don't know what this means. Phones can't talk to satellites. It's impossible. They have a (maximum) 1 watt transmitter. They could barely reach a flying plane from the ground. They defiantly could not reach a satellite, so how could they respond to this "ping"?
  13. Not if they're 3km down on the ocean bed In all seriousness would a satellite struggle to pick up a signal under that depth of water? Im no expert but surely 1 phone would be traceable. Phones don't talk to satellites. Radio doesn't go through water to any useful extent. A mobile immersed in water is probably more likely to explode than respond to a ping.
  14. For those that wish to change their username, click donate at the top of the page and then "other site options".
  15. Its 2,500 km from Australia though. Don't know if their radar goes out that far. That's more than 6% of the circumference of the planet. It would need to be on a very tall tower to reach that far.

I have worked in the field, but only on the data processing side (secondary data store for the LHC).. I'm not a theorist. I worked at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory for a time and had access to some really good lectures as part of the job. Other than that it's just a general interest.

When you say "most likely", do you mean slightly more likely than the other options, or you believe that's more than likely the answer? It's the most likely fit based on what we know and hypothesise at this point. This may be different next year or even next week. Some of the maths requires 11 or 12 dimensions. My maths isn't strong ernough to follow, but the discrepancy is something to do with us not being able to understand time like dimensions. It's still entirely possible that there is only one universe. We have no idea how to test the multiverse theories.

Which was why I said "there is no such thing as nothing".

There is no such thing as nothing, both figuratively and literally. Even empty space has a quantum potential which can cause particles to randomly come into existence. Even empty space is 'something'! Actually, I've typed a fallacy there. The spontaneous creation of particles is not necessarily random, we just don't understand the mechanism which drives it yet.
