If he was prepared to let him go, I would say that means he's not good enough for us. The same would apply to Fletcher or Richardson from Manure. Why would those clubs let their top youngsters leave? . What, like Sidwell and Bentley? Some of the comments on this thread are a bit over-optimistic. Think about it. Why are players like Ribery or Hargreaves going to come here? Because we've got lots of cash? So have lots of other clubs. We're currently looking at about 15th place, and no European football of any kind, let alone Champions League football. No player who currently has that is going to give it up to join us. CyberVillan Posted April 12, 2007 Share Posted April 12, 2007 Erm even smarty pants should have enough sense to see that i said we need a younger Berger AND A BALL PLAYING DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER, but yet again he's let himself down with providing idle stats without any substance :roll:, furthermore i watch a lot of Italian football and i've seen Muntari put on some storming displays for Udinase (sp), he's also been strongly linked with Manure, and who doesn't know about Yaya Toure?, he's been brilliant for Monaco this season and almost moved to Arsenal to play alongside his brother last season, and of course both Muntari and Toure were stars for their respective countrys at the world cup but i guess everyone was watching the "mighty entertaining" England!!. Yea, I read the bit about Man Utd on Wikipedia too. , and who doesn't know about Yaya Toure?, he's been brilliant for Monaco this season African midfielder who's brilliant in France - we've got one of them in Jumbo Jumbo, why do we need another? Obviously the likes of Djemba-Djemba and Zokora were good for their national team and in the french league, never happened for EDD and Zokora's had a hit-and-miss season. Yeah, I think the point that the poster is making is that it's all very well sitting and watching an occasional highlights programme, but in order to speak with confidence about any player I do think you need to have watched them slightly more than that. If Sid does spend his weekend flying from Monte Carlo to Udine to watch Muntari and Touré then fair enough, that certainly shows dedication. Otherwise I think the poster is fairly valid is his suggestions that maybe Championship Manager, Youtube and Wikipedia shouldn't be relied upon when rating how good a player might be for us. A bid of 7-9M would secure him surely. Mathieu Bodmer is a good shout, the same player only with a little more composure over him. Great shot, would cost around 8M I guess.
