  1. Well said my friend , Although no doubt the spurs fanatics will arrive soon to spoil the party
  2. And by far and away our best defender has hardly played for the last two years, but our defence hasn't been as bad as their's, even when King did return they were letting in goals left, right and centre.
  3. Their defence is one of the worst in the league and as such we lost less games than them so your suggestion that their defence is "more promising" is rubbish, and i don't think people need to be schooled about the Spuds team either as i'm sure everyone knows about them in here by now!!. If you dont like my opinion...dont read. To answer it like you did is in some way your opinion but you add on a slightly disrespectful ending...and I recent that. Spurs was way more attacking than Villa and if you attack more you are bound to open up for other teams to get chances to score. Martin Jol has calculated that he had a strikeforce that would win them games anyway and he wasnt wrong. Spurs attack was awesome at times. I´m not trying to school anyone about Spurs, but I try to weight in a realistic analyze on why Sneijder would prefer to choose Spurs before Villa as the clubs stands now with the squad. Many on this forum overrate the excisting squad of Villa. If we didnt get Carew, Young and Maloney in january together with a brightly playing Berger we would have had a hell of a time avoiding relegation. It was there for everyone to see... I' don't care whether you resent my post or not as i was just stating the facts  , there's been a huge problem on this site with people bigging up Spurs i'm sure you are aware of that but to then go through the Spurs side in a effort to prove they are better than us is imo extremely futile, and the whole "Spurs attack so much that's why they let in goals" is absolute crap, Arsenal attack like mad and they never let in as much as them, Spurs kept around 4 clean sheets in the season!!, that's not the sign of a top class defence at all.

  5. We don't have to put all our eggs in Sneidjer's basket, as long as these two young talented left sided play makers are still out there Nery Alberto Castillo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htu9QZYttMs And Daniel Carvalho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDMPywDQJQc who have been very impressive for their respective clubs in the champions league and imo just as good as Sneidjer then we've still got hope.
  6. Why bother?, you'll only say it's not gonna happen!!
  7. Because each story basically copies from the previous.... Mon was actually at an Ajax game the other day to watch Sneidjer though so i think it would be frivolous to assume that this story is purely a fabrication by Bill Howell simply because of the notion that he may read this site, this link has been hanging around for ages and no-one from the club has denied it, i for one hope we get the kid and i'd like to think Mon feels the same.
  8. I can't believe people would be "disapointed" if mon signed Nakamura, i mean ffs the man is a class player who beat Manure with a single piece of magic on his own, for me he could be Berger's replacement!!, the man is creative and as has been mentioined his free kicks are deadly, in order to move forward we need all sorts of weapons in our side, a free kick expert is a must imo and i'd be happy enough if we got him.
  9. I think he would prefer him in that position yes, i just think he wants actual wingers, whilst i dont think Sneidjer is he is similar to Barry as in a side midfielder not a winger. I don't think he's the same as Barry, Sniedjer is an all out attacking midfielder, Barry is a converted defender who played left back for a number of games last season, Taylor is not the fastest of players and also started as a Left back, Sneidjer is better than both Barry and Taylor and thus i personally think he'd be mad to choose Taylor over him even if he wants to play with two "wingers" which hasn't even been confirmed yet.
  10. I dont think we are, it doesn't fit with our midfield plans imo especially if we sign NRC. Sniedjer can play across the whole midfield so i disagree with that notion, if we sign both hom and Reo-coker i imagine he'll play left side and drift in like Pires used to do at Arsenal. But i dont think MON wants another midfielder like that though, for the wings he wants wingers thats why Barry was moved in as he is not a winger. Going after Taylor and already signing Young lends itself to this. Sneijger is a similar player to Barry in the way that he is a creative midfielder not a winger, but can still play there. So you think Mon would prefer Taylor to Sneidjer?, i don't think so, he'll get the best players he can possibley get, Sniedjer also has some decent pace too so playing out wide should be fine for him, what i noticed towards the end of the season was our players moving all around the pitch, Ashley would go from left to right, Gardner would be in the center then pop up on the right!!, so it doesn't mean Sneidjer would be confined to the left hand side.

  12. well, i believe you're wrong but you're entitled to your opinion. Solano wasn't fit to wipe Barry's boots as far as i'm concerned. if he'd ever bothered to turn up for an away match things may have been different of course. a few silky passes, and free kicks do not maketh a great player. Barry is a rare 7-8/10 player week in week out but Barry suffers from the same problem a lot of our homegrown/raised players do. some supporters think less of them because they cost nothing for what its worth, i wouldn't swap Barry for any left sided player in the premiership. that's how important i feel he is to our side Solano won us matches and created and scored more, none of his goals being from the penalty spot either, and the notion of Nobby never turning up away from home is pure myth, i remember him scoring the equeliser at Southampton when we were two down, setting up Angel at Wolves when we won four nil, Setting up Hitz at pompy, Setting up Barry at Liverppol, he played his part but it was the whole team who never turned up most times away from home not just him, My opinion is Sneidjer is better than Barry and would replace him, i don't know what the fuss is, and if you wouldn't take Robben over Barry then i think this debate is worthless.
  13. Why wouldn't Mon sign Nigel too?, they are two different kind of players, Nigel's abilities are needed just as much as Sniejder's, we've got the money now.
  14. Barry, was not only our best player last season, he has been for about 5 seasons on the trot. as for Petrov, i assume you're having a laugh ? granted that performance away to West Ham was excellent, but the very fact you had to go back that far says it all about Stan. one great game all season maybe, just maybe O'Neill's about to cut his losses on him and ship him out and replace with better ? and lets face it, you'd find a better player than him far quicker than you would Barry. i think thats a given Nope Barry hasn't been our "best player for the last five seasons" because Angel scored 23 goals for us not long ago and Solano was head and shoulders abouv him when he was here too!!, stop going over board, Barry is a decent player but he's not on Sneidjers level and imo Petrov will be much better next season, he showed his class towards the end of last season, plus he's got experiance of champions league football and is back on the international scene, i don't know why people are so scared of change!!,
  15. why on earth would ANYBODY drop our best player by a mile, from a new look midfield ? what exactly had Petrov done to earn his place in the middle alongside RC ? Sneijder Barry Reo-Coker Young ... perhaps Thats the problem, he's not the "best player by a mile", he played his part but so did Gabby, so did Laursen, so did Berger and Bouma, but people seem to think that Barry done it all by himself  , he's the so called "best player" in a team that finished 11th, not 4th, if we get Sniedjer then Barry will be under serious pressure, maybe people would drop Petrov instead but for me when he's on his game he's also better than Barry, that performance at West ham was just as good if not better than anything Barry done last season imo.
  16. If we manage to get Sniejder then Barry may well be the fall guy because Sniedjer is better than Gareth, all the other midfielders (if we include Reo-coker) are Mon signings and he won't want to be seen to be wasting money, Sneijder Petrov Reo-coker Young is a top four midfield imo, people need to understand that Barry is not the be all and end all!!, no-one should be a "cert" at Villa in this new era.
  17. He's nowhere near Abramovich in wealth though and he doesn't beat Randy and his family's wealth either, otherwise he would have gotten Liverpool when he went in for them, apparently he's also a wanted man back in Thailand too so the whole thing looks fishy. I hope we get Nigel before he get's on the plane with the u21's because if we don't and he plays well we'll have a fight on our hands,
  18. The express claimed the other day that he doesn't want to go to Spuds because of their rotation system, so i think we're pretty much certain to sign him now, i think we'll have the best deal out of it as Nigel's potential is huge imo. I also hope we get Gordon, he impressed me when he played against Italy the other day.
  19. I remember hearing Jason kundy talk about Reo-coker on Talksport a few days ago and he was full of praise for Nigel, saying he can go all the way to the top at the right club, Nigel isn't just a normal defensive midfielder, when he's on his game he's everywhere on the pitch, i remember seeing him run through at highbury and bury it in the bottom corner with a lovely finish when West Ham beat Arsenal the year before last, the lad is no mug going forward that's for sure.
  20. Defoe would be a class signing, there was too many games last season that we dominated without getting what we deserved, Newcastle away comes to mind, so at least with Jermain we'd have a proven goal getter in our ranks, at a club like ours i think he'd improve even more.
  21. The boy Fred seemed to come out of nowhere when he signed for Lyon for a big fee, but his goal record in Brazil was amazing and it's continued in France as his ratio is around one goal every two games, from what i've seen of him he has a little bit of everything in locker, great strength, decent pace, very good header of the ball, lovely first touch, of course silky skills and is a fantastic finisher, i think he's one of those players that we could just about nick in and get before the big guns take a chance on him, like a Berbatov or Mccarthy, i think he could have that kind of impact for us, he would be a very exciting signing, he's the same age as Bent, but the difference is he's scored goals in the champions league and for Brazil too. 22. For once i agree with you , i mean i wasn't a fan of young Craig at all but he's certainly done well at the end of the season, but let's get real folks he's only started around 6 or 7 games last season so to suggest he's better than Nigel is well over the top, he hasn't played a whole match against the big guns yet, Nigel at 17 was knocking in belters for Wimboldon in the first division so he's got a lot of experiance for one so young, personally i'd prefer us to get Manuel Fernandes who is around the same age as Craig and is miles better without doubt.
  23. I saw Bellamy the other day for Wales and he done well, but his comments about us the other day was a bit concerning, he didn't seem happy about being linked with us, i've always said that if we do bring in a new striker Mon should make sure it's a top class one, i'm not sure replacing the ever improving Gabby and Luke with Bellamy would make much of a difference, but exciting players like Afonso and Fabiano would be interesting. As for Kewell, as i said before he could be a bargin if Mon can get him going, he done it with Berger and he can do it with Kewell imo.
  24. If you don't want a negative response you better keep parents out of this, His name is spelt AFONSO, as stated here!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afonso_Alves Yes, I know. I see that my post could have been misleading though. As picicata's already said I was having a go at AFONSO's parents for calling him Afonso (not that it matters much), 'his' pointing back to Afonso's, not 'Cyber's'. Although I must say that it was a rather abortive attempt to amuse people, as I obviously know that both Afonso's parents as well as the Brazilian authorities probably would have found him a proper name at a somewhat earlier stage. (If Afonso was wrong I mean.) Ok, no problem, Afonso will be playing against England on friday!!, if he has an average game no doubt he'll be labled "crap" by some!!. I really hope Mon has his eye on the lad as he could turn out to be a very good player.
