Still not solved this. I'm wary of spending £50 on something until I'm absolutely sure it will work.

Can someone give me a definitive answer - As long as it has a line in and a cassette player will I be able to record from my line out on my laptop? Hit play on my playlist, hit record on the tape player, job done?

Does your tape player also play CDs? You could put it onto CD and then use it to record the CD onto tape.

No I'm looking at buying one.

It does, but I don't have a CD burner. One of the pitfalls of an ultrabook.

Pretty much. Post a pic of what you're looking at for a clearer answer, front + back if poss.

Hit Record (+ play usually) on the tape player, let it run for a few seconds then hit play on your computer.

**** hell, surely just getting her pissed and knocking the back out of her is easier than this chap?

Aye, probably. I've sold myself as creatively romantic though, or should I say spun a web of lies.

Aye, minijack to minijack is what you need.

Google kicked up some bloke on Amazon. Reckons it records any input except microphones through the Aux in, it looks like he investigated a bit.

It's the wordy one in the middle

Lovely job! Thanks a lot.

Purchased!

  • 1 month later...

I've been doing exactly the opposite thing lately.

My 40th birthday was in 1994, and I made up six C90 cassettes of my all-time favourite tracks as party music, total self-indulgence. All taken from vinyl, very quickly, no setting levels or anything.

I still have those tapes, and my 60th birthday is coming up next year, so I thought I'd recreate them using digital sources, burning to CD-R. I actually have about 90% of the tracks on CD now, the rest I had to download, or in a (very) few cases rip from vinyl or tape.

I may update the playlist with an extra CD's worth of songs. Having good fun doing it, anyway.

I used to burn music onto CD, then put that into a CD player (which had a cassette player/recorder) and make a mixtape that way

I have a habit of taking the difficult option, though.

I'm sure the tech savvy VT'ers have a better idea.

This was my old method as well, when I only had a cassette player in the car.

Just get something like this and do it that was is probably the simplest.
