I am a Lambert supporter and of course we should not sack him. But we were poor mate. Our midfield has been a disaster for nearly two seasons and remains so. I dont know how we fix it. The only suggestion I have is to throw bodies at the problem and pray for a Lerner gift in January.

Overall? Yeah we were poor largely due to being dreadful after the Bennett sending off but when it was 11 v 11 we were ok, hence why we were 1-0 up.

Honestly, people are overreacting and letting how poor we were with 10 cloud their judgement. We weren't that bad at 11. If we were so bad we would not have been 1-0 up at that point.

Trying to turn around a ship that has been sinking for a while, we were never going to roll over every team we play. If people expected instant turn around they are deluding themselves.

The woeful Mcleish couldn't relegate us so the better lambert won't either

Exactly Richard. There's been so much **** change going on at Villa over the past 2 years that it's not surprise we're in such a mess. O'Neill-McDonald-Houllier-McAllister-McLeish-Lambert all in the space of 15 months.

We were awful today. Inept in every part of the game and Norwich should have put at least three past us with Herd also sent off. We're going down with this clown in charge and if Randy gives him more money to spent then our team will resemble a kindergarden.

He who shall not be named had better players at his disposal.

Last year was the time for someone to start turning it around, and progressing this season. The board got it wrong and we fell back even further. In this league you can't stand still for a year never mind decline for two. We're ****, and many have seen it coming.

Jesus Christ, did people only watch the game from the moment Bennett got sent off? We weren't awful up until then. Get a grip.

So few level heads on here it seems. As for the kindergarten comment, if some people had their way the club would resemble a nursing home.

He's giving it a bloody good try though. He might be better than McLeish, although even that is highly debatable, but he certainly isn't better than the majority of the other Premier League managers he has to play against. As you say, McLeish didn't relegate us, so taking the same side and adding £20m of players to it should NOT see as embarrassingly bad as we are at the moment, even allowing for the need to let players get to know each other.

The club is a complete shambles from top to bottom.

Oh come on now. Keeper situation remains good. Back two looked solid considering it was a bit makeshift. Benteke is growing into the league well. Not all bad.

Cant really argue about our midfield & attackers in general though. if anything we seem to be going backwards since the west ham game.

Sack him and replace him with who exactly? Pep Guardiola inst going to pitch up here any time soon and even if he did there not a lot he could do with this midfiled.

Redknapp with a promise of massive backing in January. We wouldn't go down with Harry in charge.

Redknapp? Massive no. Short term thinking. Short term thinking is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Yes we were, we were terrible.

No we weren't. If we were so terrible for the entire game we would never have gone 1-0 up.

Ah, so you're basing your entire reaction on the fact that we managed to score a goal. It was a good goal granted, but 90% of the rest of the play in the first half was awful.

Currently we're worse, but the game isn't played over 9 games it's played over 38, something people seem to be forgetting.

No I'm not, I'm basing it on the general performance up until the sending off, which was poor at times but also good at times, as evidenced by the goal. Yes we were awful with 10 men which was worrying but fortunately Phil Dowd can't referee us every week.

One of the reasons we have struggled is we have changed everything at the club in terms of manager about 6 times in 3 years, the answer is not to go for our 7th manager 10 games into the best managerial appointment Lerner has made. The answer is to stick with the project and back him in the next window

who?

The previous manager. Better is probably pushing it, admittedly. Experienced is more apt. The players were able to grind out results the ugly way because they knew their craft, this bunch don't.

The board also backed this manager and we are left with his duds on our wage bill.

They gambled and got it utterly wrong and we are paying for it now.

I like Lambert and agree with sticking with the project but saying it's Lerner's best managerial appointment is a bit premature. It's better than McLeish for sure but that's about it.

We were awful with 11 men against Everton, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham. I agree that Dowd is crap, but if he was any use we'd probably have had 9 men, not 10.
