I will make ONE comment on this subject and then stop...because I have stated on more than one occasion that I have nothing to do with players. BUT: Do we lose faith in our Manager over one possible signing? Do we dismiss what he did last season with a squad that was given to him? Do we dismiss his signings over the winter? Do we dismiss our 5 year plan because we didn't win the Cup in Europe in year 1...do we lose faith that we can do what we have set out to do? Do we believe we know more about the needs of the Club than MON? Do we second guess him every time he makes a move? And, finally, if we did sign a player that fans aren't happy about...how do you think that player would feel joining a Club where the fans bashed him before he even signed??? Maradona10 Posted July 16, 2007 Share Posted July 16, 2007 General well said but you also have to understand the fans frustration, seeing that the Chief Executive made big statements to the press regarding signings and seeing other clubs signing players, and we sign someone who struggled to make impact with a team who were in a relegation battle. My argument on this which i believe is valid, we were told by MON himself that he is trying hard to get players in? Life is not always a rose garden...there are thorns and I have learned to accept them. 2. I don't think I said I would make good on the Season Ticket...I think I said to contact Nicky Keye and she would sort it. Really can't see it working, football, as any sport is about socialising, the chances of you and your mate getting a ticket is so minimal I can't compute it - so the chances are, even if you were picked, you wouldn't go and this could lead to it being half empty most saturdays. First come , first served . There are other watering holes around villa park that are member only . Having 130 invited people inside the pub suggests they will stay there from opening time to close . We also dont know what the price of the drinks will be so if its a lot more than say the villa tavern maybe i and others will stick to that . One question, related only indirectly: Does this sort of thing happen with the Browns, or other NFL/AFL teams? Are US sports fans equally vociferous in such a negative way when they question the wisdom of a signing? Is that who we are as Aston Villa F.C.? I totally agree with your sentiments here General. I would just like to say that you have been very diplomatic over all of this. As a loyal Villa fan for over 20 years I am quite frankly disgusted with the childlike and fickle attitude of some of my fellow fans. MON, Randy the General and everyone at the club are clearly pulling very hard to drag Aston Villa up from mediocrity, where we have been for as long as I can remember. We should as fans be pulling in the same direction. I am not suggesting blind loyalty but I think we should all show respect for the hard work that is being done. Just because we want the cream of Europe's footballing talent it doesn't mean they will want us, and the famous fickleness of many Villa fans is not helping us improve our desirability. There are a lot of fans on here and other sites undoing a lot of the positives. If I was a player I would be checking the fansites of any club I was considering joining and if I read what is on this site I would certainly think twice. Pity. This is probably premature to ask this question but is there any way we can have some gauge as to how our pre-orders are progressing for the new kit as opposed to other years?
