MyLord
"We'll get the beers safe then we'll outflank 'em" Bit of friendly banter available at the Oyster bar in manc town by the big wheel from 4ish onwards, join in the fun...
tom_avfc
On the topic of pubs in Manchester I'm coming up with the girlfriend for the game and we'll be in Manchester fairly early. Any away pubs/recommended pubs where there'll be a few Villa around?
wedge
Thats what the original post is on about mate, Sinclair's Oyster Bar by the big wheel in Manchester city centre is really the "away" pub.
tom_avfc
Isn't that a fair way from the ground? Taxi from there is it or walkable?
Tomaszk
You're looking an hour walk from there, bloomin miles. Great, cheap pub though. If it's not raining, we will make a hell of a racket there.
MyLord
Last away game of last season was banging outside, just over 1.50 a pint and taxis from there are only about a fiver so recommended. Need help getting some chants going
SouthBirminghamVilla
Beer sometimes not the best. Went in here before the game in December, about five Villa fans in.
villan_avfc
You're looking an hour walk from there, bloomin miles. it's a half hour walk, tops. ----------- it was good in there before the last away game of the season. really good infact. but was crap before the december game with very few villa in there, but equally pretty much no citeh either. if you've got maps on your phone then that might be quite handy, otherwise just head east past the printworks and find the a665. there'll be signs for 'manchester sports arena' or similar and it won't be long before the stadium itself comes into view. alternatively, get a taxi for six quid. villan_avfc
25-30 minute walk. I don't know why some of you crawl there... It's 2.3 miles, and about 45 minutes walk from the Oyster Bar to CoMS. almost as bad as your claim that parking at the brit is pretty much impossible and that those who've found spaces have been lucky. honestly, do you attend our away games in a constant daze or something?! Moderator blandy Posted March 2, 2011 Moderator Share Posted March 2, 2011 To be fair, it depends how fast you walk. Absolutely racing back after the game to get to the station, which is further, I've done in about 30 minutes, (though that included some running). And somethimes I am in a (mild & self inflicted) daze at away games
