  1. If he is sold as reported, I'll be gutted for two reasons... 1 - We're letting one of our more "valuable" assets leave for roughly half of what we paid for him 2 - We never got the most rolling-off-the-tongue of syllable-fitting chants going; You're just too good Veretout, Can't take our eyes off of you, You've got a heavenly touch...
  2. Never been any solid Utd interest I'm afraid, as much as I'd have liked him to go there over the bin dippers. He'd fit in so much better here (work @OT) and go on to become a world-class striker ala Yorkie, if his agent wasn't a complete idiot I'd imagine he'd be very wary of becoming another cursed striker @Anfield, especially in the year of Euro's after having missed the WC. I really want to wish him all the best, he doesn't owe us anything at all tbh - 400% return & 3 good seasons, with some of the best moments I've had in my 26 years as a Villain home & away; he probably deserves a big move, but not 'pool... I'd absolutely love Fox to offer him to Utd for 32.25m, Rodgers ask why they can't have the same deal & Sir Tim of Sherwood telling him "we don't sell to our rivals ya schlaaaaaaaaaaaag"
  3. My go at Beatles' "Yesterday" for Idrissa Gueye; Idrissa Gueye...chose to come the Villa - not Marseille, He's much better than Tom Cleverley (Clev-er-lay), Let's hope he plays...with Ben-teke...
  4. Realise some people are still a little apprehensive over the whole Delph saga, but I don't think anybody can argue that he's our captain for the foreseeable future at least & needs a chant asap. Me & my mates started singing something similar to the below before the FA Cup final, but I've obviously updated it with what's gone on recently. Went down quite well on the Villa FB page & doing the rounds in the office and amongst friends/family - let me know what you think... Fabian Delph's our captain, he's never gonna go, He could have left the Villa, but Fa-bi-an said no, He said no to Man City, cos he's a loyal man, *slower* He-may-have-come-from-Yorkshire (York-she-a) but he's a Villa fan....Ohhhhhhhhh... FABIAN DELPH'S OUR CAPTAIN...
  5. Ah that's great news, thanks for posting. Just spoken to my sister about it - such a relief, been playing on our minds ever since but delighted that he's woken up and his wife seems positive. He appeared to be talking to friends, and attempting to climb/drop from the walkway above - I think it was the big advertising boards which he unfortunately got his foot stuck in which meant he flipped in mid-air, and as I said earlier just lucky that his head didn't hit the floor first. He'll no doubt have a long road to any form of recovery, but it could have been much worse for him and his family, so just delighted for them that he's OK - apparently he has 2 young children who I'm sure are going through hell atm along with his wife, so all the best to them & UTV
  6. Unfortunately he fell from the bridge above, (touch wood) it appeared he was lucky that his head didn't hit the floor first or he most likely would have died instantly. I was actually one of many who phoned for an ambulance as was nearby as it happened, the sound was horrific, and the air ambulance rang back to confirm location etc which the police acted on brilliantly to clear the landing area so soon - credit to our services where it's due. Me and my sister didn't know the man, but like many others who witnessed it were both pretty obviously affected and if anybody knows the guy would really like to know how he's doing - have been hoping/praying for the best as he appeared conscious, if not moving when they took him to the helicopter. Villa fan or not, it really did put things sharply into context straight after the game - just hope he's still with us and able to make a decent recovery
  7. 1-3 for me - Gabs and Trekkers brace, OG for them (Villa scoring 4 in a game, too much?)
  8. Spot on, it's just a shame they're two of the only players that look like they care - Vlaar couldn't look less bothered or motivational to the rest of the team today...one of the above would be captain for me on current form
  9. Haha yep, having mates that support virtually each and every team in the league has naturally led to us chanting at each other throughout the years, giving us a great insight of just how many songs are recycled/stolen as they go in and iut of fashion, but most interestingly as players are bought the chant very likely seems part of the deal! Sadly, we're just the norm when it comes to originality, however at least we have had the odd-one recently e.g. Gabby's Culture Club rendition, Aye Aye - Ashley Young and My Lord (which, poignantly, since has been used by Blackburn, Stoke and most annoyingly working in Manchester I have to hear "Sheikh Mansour, my Lord" on a weekly basis) Would love to start some new, inventive & original songs just never going to happen at home, unless we had a similar set-up to United in the Bishop's Blaze whereby they'll regularly have sessions before games with song sheets printed - still requires people to turn up and join in though which I won't hold my breath with for the Villa
  10. Anybody know how many we have left for this?
  11. Got any links at all please mate? Would love to watch/listen to the game with just us ringing around the famous atmosphere of Anfield rather than having commentators ruin it...
  12. Bit of a cliché but we have to be the 12th man in this, if VP is rocking from the off they won't like it one bit - let's give the Villa boys the best possible chance of getting something here. Personally people laughed at me before this run of "5 losses" when I said we'd start with a win at Anfield and win one of the home games - this could very easily be a win and give us a free go so to speak at the other fixtures. Realistically we've done very well to be where we are even if we don't get anything from the next 4, but in my current state of euphoria let's go for the 12 - WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE (AGAIN!)
  13. I had Paddock tickets, phoned up earlier and paid the difference to move to Upper now they're on sale - the TO can be really helpful if you give them the option to. Can't wait to celebrate another 3 points in the pool!
  14. Still with the optimism, I know it doesn't feel right but I'm beginning to like it!
  15. Looking at RAWK they all seem convinced that Vlaar is out. I hope they're jumping to conclusions. How in jumping-Jehovah would some plastic bin-dippers know Ron's likelihood to play? They'll cling onto anything, the Scousers I know are scared of us though they'll never want to admit it. Really hope we do these, I didn't bite but I've had a number of comments thrown at me this week, main one that got me up for it was "we've got a pub team coming to Anfield next" - desperate
  16. Literally cannot wait for this one now, I think all international football does is make me love the Villa even more! 3-1 to the Villa, maybe I'm just letting good memories from the past couple of seasons cloud my judgement, but I'm really not scared of going there and if they didn't have Mario I'd actually be confident of getting a clean sheet. We seem to like it on the tele, away under the lights so let's hope Gabs is up for it after his new deal and puts in a performance like last season - we would have won had he stayed on! UTV!
  17. Everton havn't formlally bid/had anything formally accepted yet, but my feeling and that of others @OT is that he'll go there should they come to an agreement. Fwiw I'd take him, there's been a lot of scapegoat about this one, very much Henderson 2/3 years ago
  18. LvG will be at United for a substantial amount of time, whether they get CL this season or not.
  19. This feels like a fantastic appointment to me, I know a large amount of fans hold the commercial aspect as the "dark side" of football, but working in the industry I 100% believe we will never be able to compete at the very top level again unless we focus on worldwide CRM and, in our current position, brand association with these fans. We're a big club still, no doubt about it as a brand, but currently we have very little if any meaningful identity against the brand "AVFC". Unfortunately the rebranding of 2006 under Randy never really worked out as O'Neill only took us to half-way house, and in my opinion we'd be best placed to start afresh under new ownership if and when it does happen. Anyhow, I'm unfortunately not in any position to make such meaningful decisions at the club, but can't wait until I am!!
  20. Absolute quality yesterday, MOTM for me
  21. I really hope we can become the kind of team that people just don't like coming up against. Man for man and as a team in general... For too long in recent times we've been THE team to face to break your duck or end a winless streak. We look as though we've got a good solid, strong back 4 now and hopefully with the added commitment and resiliance from the players, plus just that extra bit of quality, we'll stop rolling over and letting any old shit take the piss out of us! ...We'll still conspire to lose to United though. THIS, exactly this! I absolutely love that we're not a "nice team" anymore and the pictures of Lambo/Keane having a pop at officials just compounds that!
  22. Yeah his kicking was awful yesterday but it's not normally anywhere near as bad as that. I just hope it's not a by product in training with Given. It's not an excuse in the slightest, but a major bug-bear of mine is the fact our players (including Vlaar above played with him for while now) STILL pass it back to Guzan's right foot. Now keepers are bad with their feet at the best of times, but to continually get it on your wrong foot in a pressure situation, it's just an additional variable we don't need!
  23. Lambert would. This is proven (and I agree). Whether he will this time is up for debate. For me Gabby drops to the bench. Spot on, especially for a home game I fully expect/hope to see Gabby mainly saved for away games and the likes of J.Cole coming in for home matches
  24. Aly Cissokho's song @ Stoke = Heartbeat, absolutely love it said that would be a cracking tune to chant for years, although biggest song of the day was obviously "We're gonna win the league" (pre and post match!)
