Trouble on Witton Lane

Caught wind of a fair old scuffle on Witton Lane by the away entrance afterwards, smoke bomb/flares were obviously used and us normal supporters were scattering to get away down the side roads...Anyone know anything more?

Saw a lot of running about by Witton island while I was in the Aston Hotel munching a bacon sarnie and supping a pint.

Looked more 'handbags' than anything but then we couldn't see flares etc

Maybe it was but a lot of people seemed to be involved and of course there were hundreds of police officers, still not nice when things are being thrown and there was red smoke around and I heard only off a mate who was there before me that it was a Villa fan who threw the thing into SHA supporters which I hope isn't true...But I have never had to full-on sprint away from a football ground unless I've been late for a train so I presumed it must be spilling over into the side streets and quite nastily too. Police helicopter was buzzing about and while I was crossing the road by Witton station under the bridge it looked like the trouble had moved down the road towards Witton Island, obviously I didn't hang around enough to give a minute by minute commentary but this is just what i experienced.

The League Cup night game will be a nightmare for the police

Unfortunately I think your right, look no further than what happened last time we played them in a night game. I was thinking watching that outside the ground today that we could have our allocation at the Sty restricted because of it, and it would make things easier for the plod. It's all too easy to say that it is only SHA fans that cause trouble but ashamed as I am to admit it, we have our fair share of morons as well...

Well it was confusing when i walked out loads of knobs with no colours on so you could not see who was who but it was all just mouthing off really. One rather large bald guy got carted off by the fuzz again no idea who he followed and then there was another guy that pushed someone to the ground then did a runner into the crowd with the police chasing him. A flare was thrown from the Villa Fans into what must have been the Inbreds but no one was hurt and the flare was soon in the gutter with a mass line of police seperating both sets of fans. We just pushed our way through eventually and walked up Witton Lane towards the Holte.

The flair looked more claret in colour than red to me, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Villa fan who threw it, that was my first instinct anyway. I didn't hang around on my way by tho Witton station, but the best I could make out were the many many police escorting the noses away from the Doug Ellis

I don't wear colours to derby games, never have so I suppose I'm a knob as well :winkold:

Jokes aside thats probably all it was but it seemed like there were lots involved, a lot of baiting going on and a lot of police. I'm dreading the LC game...

I saw it.

2 coach loads of Blues turned up singing shit on the Villa and the usual Lulu Lulu. Villa fans charged the 1st load with bottles been thrown etc then the 2nd coach load came in behind sandwiching the Villa fans. Loads of jumping around and bottle throwing before the old bill formed lines and drew a few batons swinging them around like they wanted the row.

The cup game is going to be a mare to police - I can see us being locked in a long time after the final whistle then all hell breaking loose when were finally released into the open. Great police tactic that.. 2000 Villa fans walking down the hill when everyone's gone bar a few hundred Blue nose knuckle draggers waiting at the bottom for the ruck.

Anyone else surprised how slack the policing was before the game? Trying to walk from the NS end down side of the DE past the away entrance there were virtually no police before as the smurfs tried to kick off with anyone and everyone, saw a bloke get smacked over the head by this **** wearing blue who then ran off like the fat bald coward he was. Then went down towards the Holte and there were police down there. What the hell were they doing at that end of the stand and not the NS end?!

I walked out of the lower north on to witton lane and it was very heated. Seemed to me that the noses were not even at the game. All dressed up in their stone island. It all kicked off and then carried on up the street to the aston hotel both the burger bars had their sauce bottles pinched and thrown. Quite a bit of scrapping.

Why are we locked in the sty for an hour or so after the game, yet these morons are let out of our ground at the same time as our fans?

Yeah i saw it before the game, must have been 5 cops tops saw a couple get a smack with a batton, the noses were coming from everywhere really badly organised by the police, no fan clashes until the cops were everywhere though couple of hit and runs, again seemed to be from blues fans that were coming from behind or the side, cops were rubbish

All the old "Lulu" heads came out for this one. The fat guy with blue bobble hat getting chinned by that young lad was Brains, a very old head. Saw Walton, Cud, Barrington dancing about. Fair play to the young Villa firm, held there own.

Nothing 'fair play' about the Villa firm, they're a joke to the club.
