Football Manager 2011

Finally gave in and got it after my PS3 got the YLOD and I heard the new patch was good, was going to wait for patch 3 after being disappointed the last few years. I'm at the beginning of December sitting 5th in the League W9 D3 L3. Need just 1 point from Juve and PSG to get through my Europa League group. In the quarter final of the League Cup against SHA, no big teams left so I may have a chance.

Cuellar has been my best player by far. Playing a 4411 wit Young/Ireland playing behind the Fonz. So far Fonz has 9 goals, Carews leaving in January, Heskey has been injured all season. Gabby has 5 goals and played most games but is now second choice due to Fonz's form. Spent my entire budget of £20 on Hamsik who arrives in January.

Anyone know of any good graphics packs had a look on sortitoutsi and couldn't find much of anything

Problems problems problems!!!!!

The latest update has downloaded itself via steam (now on 11.2.1) but will not load now!!!! All I get is a crash with a window stating "football manager 2011 11.2.1fl64501 has stopped working"

Any ideas on how to solve this???

NB. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

Just finished my 2nd season with Villa. This is how I did:

Prem: 1st.

CL: Knocked out in Qualies to Atletico

Europa: Got to Quarters, knocked out to L'pool who finished 2nd in league. Sort of threw it away to concentrate on league.

FA: Lost in 5th Rd to Man C. Threw it away, same as above.

CC: Lost in 3rd Rd to L'Pool.

Transfers at start of season were: IN - C.Adam (1.5m), R.Mavuba (3.9m), S.Giovinco (Loan), R.Shawcross (5m), J.Angel (6.5m), G.Ochoa (7.25m).

OUT - L.Young, B.Guzan, S.Sidwell, J.Hogg, B.Bannan & other youngsters all left on frees. H.Beye (550k), A.Diarra (Loan fee), E.Heskey (550k), S.Petrov (Loan fee), R.Dunne (Loan fee). Lots of youngsters out on loan too.

Had to get rid of people like Dunne on loan because nobody would buy them and needed to shift off wage bill.

Highlights of the season included going unbeaten from start of Feb 'till end of season. During which time I beat Small Heath 5-0. Also with 3 games to go, the title was still open between L'pool, Man U & I. I went to Liverpool and won 2-0. Then went to Old Trafford and drew which meant a win at home to Bolton on last day would win the title. Won 3-0.

Standout performers of the year were: Curtis Davies & Ryan Shawcross at the back who conceded the least goals in the League. They were 2 of the 3 players with best Ave. Rating at end of season. Shawcross was best. Downing weighed in with a tonne of assists. Delfouneso banged them home.

Andy - How is the value of your club dictated and what can you do in order to improve it within the game?

I'm managing Villa and fancy a challange and want to see if I can make us worth more than Spurs. Is it as simply as improving the value of your squad or is it more about income and balance sheet?

Not managed a 5-0 against them but I had 4-0 and 4-1 in the league. They got relegated as well.

First season went well.

League - 6th

Europa League - 1st knockout round. Wasn't too disappointed about going out

League Cup - Semi final. Lost to Sunderland, last minute goal from Bent. They went on to lose the final to League 1 Peterborough

FA Cup - Final. Was 1-0 up against Man City until a late Silva goal. They won on penalties.

Got manager of the year award.

Gabby was my top scorer with 19 and Fonz got 15

Start of the second season my transfer dealings have been.

In - Hamsik £20m (worth every penny), Mattock £2.1m, Azpillcueta £12m (Been a bit of a flop at RB, retraining as RM), Rakitic Free, Ustari £4.5m, Onuoha £1.9m

Out - Carew £2.6m, Heskey £2m, Dunne £4.2m, Beye £1m, Lowry £2m, Sidwell £1m, Petrov £4.2m, Friedel £500k, Collins Loan £3.7m future fee

Hoping for a trophy this season and to add to my points from last season. Top 4 doesn't look likely at this moment

I believe things like reputation also have an effect on the total value of the club.

Interesting, I got rid of beye and warnock on mine bought Franck Béria and stuck L. Young in warnocks position, I got rid of Guzan (to be fair he was good but i got a bid for him so i let him go) and bought Rafael Romo as replacement..I also sold Sidwell and bought Cabaye as replacement (really good player - long shots are amazing) got Eric Lichaj in first team aswell, Loaned Wiemann atm his doing really well so i'll get him in first team once he comes back from loan spell.

what do you think of hogg? I'd highly recommend playing him in a game, i thought he'd be rubbish if im honest but he's given 4 assists and wins the ball back and retains possession quite well very good option for the bench or cup games and probably starting him for the likes of wigan etc.. Did you sell Pires? might sell him and see if anyone wants him.

Told myself I wouldn't buy this years addition. Reasons being I wouldnt leave the house. But I did and its worth the bags under my eyes. How good is Paulo Henrique????!! I Just picked him up 2nd season for 15m and he literally runs the show every match.

My line up this year:

(433 narrow) No wingers.

GK: F.Carini - free - Legend!

DR: Alberto Lora - very cheap (under 1m)

DL: Contreao - 6m - great assest but wank fitness is frustrating

DC: Dunne/Cuellar - both solid this year

DC: A.Rami/Fazio - 7m/6m roughly - both solid

MCR: Rakiktic - 8m - free kick/long shot specialist

MC: Annan - 11m just signed- looks handy

MCL/ or - AM: Paulo Henrique - 15m - the poor mans Pastore

STCL: Lukaku - 4.6m - will be a superstar

STC: Suazo - very cheap 1st season(or free) - experienced forward with great skil

STCR: Racid (loan)/ or Gabby - Gabby bagged me 31 goals in the 1st season.

Other players Ive pulled in:

Christian Eriksen A/MC - Loan - wish id of bought him straight up as he's going to be a right gem in the future.

Yaya Sanogo STC - 5M + Incentives - 18 and already class.

Kyle Walker DR - Loan - tidy little player whos doing well so far

Jordan Henderson MC - 2m - Bags of potential

My mistake, I'd hazard a guess at prize money & reputation from winning competitions, increasing player value through their ratings, buying expensive players, etc. Improving your facilities wouldn't be a bad idea either, as mentioned above.
