In one half, he's managed to go past 4 players in one run and probably play the pass of the game into Petrov and also bought down a high ball perfectly. Okay half, we don't look threatening, Downing was unlucky, caught it beautifully but good save. Gerrard hasn't been involved too much but everytime he gets it and Torres makes a run, it's dangerous. Carew is trying and working hard but not really offering anything, Gabby needs to keep running the channels. andym Posted December 29, 2009 Share Posted December 29, 2009 we need to use our brains, its wet, slippy the ball is slipping off feet, heads etc so why we keep smacking it long in the air i dont know, as we just keep losing it the few times weve kept it short and on the floor weve looked like creating stuff. milner and downing in particular need to stop trying to do too much and just look for the simple pass. carew has to come short to receive the ball to feet as well, otherwise all we can do is punt it and lose it. and when we have a chance to put in a good ball we need to take it, weve messed up a few times in good positions Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But of course Petrov has been world class and glided through the game.... One pass? There are a number of things he's done well and has so far been better than his partner. That said, they've all been guilty - but the weather conditions are making it tough. Liverpool haven't been great but they do show the kind of movement we completely lack - we simply have nowehere to go when we get the ball as everyone is virtually stationery. Surely there is nothing wrong with through balls through the actual middle every now and again? All we seem to be able to do is passes down the channels, 9 times out of 10 both strikers are down the channels passing to each other. The goal is not down the wings its in the centre! They are there for the taking we need to create more, we're at home against a team not at their best currently. The might decide to turn it on, win, give themselves a boost and go on a run! We're doing fine, there is nothing between the clubs. Gone are the days when Liverpool could outclass us, that's for sure.
