Spurs undoubtedly play a long ball game ... .

Spurs play in various ways, including wing-based play (more than any other team in the Prem) and keeping the ball on the deck, as well being able to play long balls.

It's called tactical variation - and this variety has helped to get Spurs into the Champion's league.

Have to agree with you there Glaston - from the little I've seen.

Don't always agree with you but imo it's bordering on ludicrous to claim that Spurs are a longball team.

Jheeze and 300 odd pages later and you lot are still bitching  . But I have to agree with Glaston though spurs play a mixture of long ball and also passing, as you can see with their 2nd goal at villa park on the counter attack. But as I stated before Spurs are currently on a different level to us. When this topic started I had Villa slightly ahead.

Anyway Glaston I think what frustrates people on here is you only appear when Spurs are winning, but when they lose and go on a bad run, you go missing, a bit Like Jenas. But you do make some valid points though, and it's always good to have opposing fans views.

Since the formation of the premiership Aston Villa are the 5th best team in terms of points. (1992 - present) Spurs are 6th but I have a feeling they are very close to us now. I may have to change my quote on my sig soon. I tried to find a table but couldn't find an up to date one.

Slightly off topic but Andy Cole is the 2nd highest scorer since the formation of the prem - he doesn't get the credit he deserves in my opinion.

You use so much wing play that Bale and Lennon have a combined 3 assists in the league this season.

Albrighton has that many on his own.

Just the way the ball rolls,

Bale haven't had too many direct assists this season,

but he's been third last on the ball a lot. A lot of our play comes through him.

Not to mention he's scored 11 in all competitions half way through the season.

Most of Crouch's assists to VDV have come from the right side,

though much have been pull backs for deep crosses.

Lennon could definitely be more productive.

Still 50 odd points ahead which is good. They have closed it big time though. When I looked at this table last time during the 08/09 season the gap was HUGE and it was Newcastle who were 7th not Everton.

Newcastle are 5th on average number of points per PL season (through 2009-10), but having two fewer seasons than those 7 is too much of a gap.

And this bit was incorrect:

Newcastle are 5th on average number of points per PL season (through 2009-10)

Leeds are actually 5th (57.67 points per season), followed by Newcastle (56.625), Blackburn (56), Villa (55.67), QPR (54), Spurs (53), Everton (51.33), and Norwich (50.25)
