Spurs - Arry's gone but we still dislike them...

MON outspent Redknapp tho!? In fact, MON outspent almost everybody!

In the 4 years MON was at Villa, we were the 6th highest spending club in the country (United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs, Citeh were above us). Redknapp may not have spent as much (mainly because he was only at Spurs half the time MON was at Villa), but the value of the squad he inherited + his spendings we quite a way above what MON spent on us.

Which is also a reason why don't understand alot of criticism about MON. 6th highest spenders and he finished 6th 3 straight seasons. Yet some are convinced his signings were sit, his football was shit and he ws a shit manager.. yeah, I suppose we had a 60 point head start every seasonthen?

Good points, but as for net spent Villa were fourth behind City, Spurs and Sunderland. Of course that doesn't take into inherited squads and not to mention the wage budget which is really what pulls and keeps players at your club.

hmm, harry said bale is priceless (his not for sale) and the fans think they'll hold onto him.. I dont know to be honest we thought about that with milner, then again milner wanted out.
If Bale wants out and Tottenham don't really progress much further in the CL then of course he'll go - Spuds will get a shedload for him though. You can't really compare it to Milner - he wouldn't have left if we were in the position Spuds are in now.

Bale isn't as a consistant in the Premiership. From the games I've seen, including us....he's done very little. He's a far better player on the counter attack when there is space to run into, unfortunately that won't be the case every game for him.

Still a lot to learn. He hasn't got great trickery and usually only goes on the out side, so it's fairly easy for defenders to read, especially if the defence is fairly deep and there is little space to go.

TBH I was hoping they would charge him. Not for the charge itself but because the rebel in me would've liked to see Harry stick 2 fingers up to everyone and not do the interviews as promised. Sadly the FA bottled it, even though they'll deny that it was because of the threat when surely it really was.

Shocking dive by Jenas against Inter - rightly booked.

Good to see Spurs get over 33k vs Inter after they had over 1500 unsold tickets in their first CL home group match.

You have to allocate tickets to the away side. We sold our allocation for both away games and home games.

Bale up there with Messi according to Villa,?

This is worse than when O'Neill branded Young as good

Messi has already 15 in 13 this season. It's like a play ground for him.

Bale has yet to play a full season at a consistant brilliant level. Not even surpassed Young's 07-08 season.

Will say it again, very good player but until he produces week in, week out in the Prem, he's not world class.

2 goals, 0 assists in 9 Prem games for 'a world class winger' is woeful compared to wingers you class as world class.

So are Spuds certain to qualify? If they are then I have to live with the ignominy of losing a wager with Glaston. :(

Useless Bremen , expected a shit load more of the team. :x

And Inter losing to this lot

No there's at least one scenario where Spurs finish third:

Twente 3-0 Spurs

Bremen def. Spurs

Twente def. Inter

Inter def. Bremen

Leaves Spurs and Twente tied for second on 12 points apiece and 4-4 on aggregate with Twente qualifying on head-to-head away goals (1-0).

In the same scenario, if Inter draw with Bremen, then they're all on 12 points and then it's a 3-team minileague with Spurs and Twente going through (with who wins the group depending partially on whether a 3-team tiebreaker resets when it becomes a 2-team or not).

So how do you calculate the probability of that happening.?

Probability = Desired Outcome(Spuds going out ;)) / Sample Space(All possible outcomes).

:P

It's the strikers that are woeful. Bale has created the 3rd highest number of chances and that doesn't take into account the number of times he has no one to aim at. Crouch, Pav and Keane are so average and all very slow. Look at Modric's assist and chances created this year and it tells the same story. It's really difficult to create for shit strikers who haev poor movement and pace. In terms of creativity we've got one of the best midfields in the league and if we had a top quality, fast and strong striker he could score 30+ goals. Watching Crouch, Pav and Keane is painful at times. You guys complain about Carew and Heskey, but at least they can get about and have some strength. All we've got is Crouch's height.
