Didn’t Mourinho win everything playing that way?

Mourinho used to be very flexible and set up his teams in a variety of formations. He was much more a manager that set up to counter the opponent, especially if he knew them well. That's waned a lot with his time at Spurs and now Roma - where it's been more or less reactive instead of proactive.

Whereas Moyes sets up his teams in these low block, 4-4-2, 4-4-1-1. Counter - get it down the wings - get it in the box. Predictable, boring, but if his team is engaged and up for it - sometimes effective. Effective in knockouts but a hard ceiling in the league.

Everton/Newcastle feels like it's got a 0-0 draw written all over it.

maybe not now if Pickford goes off injured

Almeron has had two great opportunities in this game, both flustered.

the first chance was the really bad one too. He absolutely fluffed that shot opportunity from close range.
