LancsVillan Posted July 30, 2005 Moderator Posted July 30, 2005 and now there are loads.......... so will split for periods
Jez Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 No contest imo Ian Taylor they guy was a legend!!! A Villa fan who actually looked like a fan playing out there (vass) scoring sheeeet loads of goals from midfield/
ahamaad Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 If anybody votes for anyone but Taylor they are mad. I can't Townsend, arrogant cockney knob, he was distinctly average for us. taylors best moment for me was the league cup final goal vs Leeds. What a strike!
LancsVillan Posted July 30, 2005 Author Moderator Posted July 30, 2005 I can't Townsend, arrogant cockney knob, he was distinctly average for us. I would take more of that 'averageness' today then
paddy Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Ian Taylor first second and third, the 2nd Villa hero I ever had (first was Deano just for reference)

It'll be a bleedin long time before we sign the captain of Chelsea gain, though

pablopicasso Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 taylor for me all the way... the guy is a legend...
blandy Posted July 30, 2005 Moderator Posted July 30, 2005 Obviously Ian Taylor, but Andy Townsend wasa very good player, who came into his own once Rico went, and Rico himself did a fine job, in a Gavin McCann type way.
TheSufferingVilla Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Andy Townsend was a great player and a superb leader! I don't know how you can say he was average. Sure Ian Taylor always played his heart out but Townsend was in a different league. we won 2 league cups the second under his captancy and he also captained Ireland at the 94 World Cup. Sure he's a rocket polisher as a pundit but don't forget the success we had with him controlling the midfield.
blandy Posted July 30, 2005 Moderator Posted July 30, 2005 I think he's pretty good as a telly "pundit" He's got his head screwed on, seems pretty intelligent and communicates well enough.
irishmangiant Posted July 30, 2005 Posted July 30, 2005 Taylor. I agree that Andy Townsend was a bit of a legend. Especially over here. Although you have to give in for the love we show to Ian Taylor. He'll always be classed as a Villan.
The_Rev Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Taylor might have been a Villa boy, but Andy Townsend was a better player.
