Its definitely all rumours at the moment.

There seems to be numerous settlements on the coast that are under attack. It could be HIMARS, Special forces, Partisans or a combination of those.

There's plenty of tweets from Ukrainians in those areas suggesting there are boots on the ground.

Let's hope some of it is true. If it is.......Ukraine is trying to control the area south of Kherson with attacks from the North,  South and West.

A very rough translation of a recent tweet.

Project 773 ship "Yuriy Olefirenko" having landed the landing force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kinburn spit, demonstrated to the world that the Russian fleet will be a dick. The ship is named in honor of Yury Olefirenko - the commander of the 73rd TsSO, who died in 2015 near Mariupol.

Maybe Ukraine are trying to prevent Russia sending their Kherson troops to Bahkmut or other vulnerable fronts by making it appear like there is a charge on Crimea?

But here's the thing that makes no sense. They built a three line defence on the left bank of the Dnipro in anticipation of the retreat. That made perfect sense because you wouldn’t want Ukraine to just be able to cross the river as that would just give them very easy access to Crimea and above everything, Crimea is the most important part of Ukraine for Russia, if they lose  Crimea, Putin might as well put a gun to his own head. But they don't really appear to have been defending the Left bank, it’s a really odd thing to do. Build a series of defensive lines and then don't defend them. It’s giving Ukraine access to the pumping stations that push the canal water out to Crimea.

It seems like Ukraine were just allowed to walk across the river by the remains of the Antonovsky Bridge (that’s how the Russians got out) into Oleshky, there were no Russians there. The locals were reporting this to the Ukraine Government for a couple of days.

I can see the Spit and some of those places being weakly defended but two of these locations are literally straight across the river and one of them is the most obvious place to defend and…. Nothing, nada. It just makes no sense

I think some of the attacks on the southern coastal towns are a diversion.

But as @bickster says - nothing is making sense at the moment.  Russia seems to have left areas on the East Bank completely undefended.  The river is the best possible defensive line for Russia.  Why abandon it?

Here’s a drive around Oleshky yesterday, there are literally no Russians present. There is literally no strategic advantage to not defending this. You also have to ask how that vehicle got on that side of the river

Russia must have used some of its best troops to cover the withdrawal.  I wonder if these guys crossed the river running for their lives and just kept on running?   That caused the conscripts in the defensive positions to do the same?

It's all very odd.

What's worse for Russia, represented by that horse for a head Lavrov in Indonesia, at the G20 summit almost all nations are now agreeing to signing a decree strongly condemning Russia's war in Ukraine. Including India, Pakistan and likely also China.

Time's up. Xi actually cozied up to Biden yesterday saying that he'd like better relations with the U.S. Turns out Western cash is king even for despotic rulers.

Xi looked very happy with the handshake photo op with Biden. Usually they make it look a bit forced for the audience at home but he looked quite happy to be there.

We’ve got to be heading towards the end game in Ukraine now. It would be an amazing early Christmas present if Putin throws in the towel this side of 25/12.

Xi needs to get access to the best AI semi conductors again. The US ban means bad news for China and because Taiwan makes a lot of semi conductors that is also screwing China too.

He's also probably realised slowly but surely that having Russia as your only trading partner when they have nothing but oil and gas is bad for his commodity markets. I presume it's put him off massively in regards to Taiwan too as Taiwan has much more modern equipment than Ukraine.

Looking forward to what excuse Peskov and Lavrov will come up with when Ukraine recaptures the mass-grave sites outside Mariupol, Berdyansk and in areas of North Crimea.

All of the drone videos coming out of Ukraine has one thing in common. Russian foxholes and trench systems look like rats nests. If a drone operator ever has issues finding targets he need only look for scattered MRE plastic, critters and human waste in a ring around somewhere, and he's got himself a Russian.

On some of the night time videos you can literally see the rats flocking around these areas. The discipline in the Russian army is lower than low. As this war goes on I presume many of them will get old school trench foot, diphtheria and legionnaires disease, they really seem unable to keep anything tidy.
