  1. I tend to be at the gym for 6.30am. Has to be before work for me - I have zero motivation afterwards when the lure of the sofa and a glass of wine is too strong.
  2. ME, I've been doing a lot of high intensity training recently using bodyweight exercises or dumbells and bar bells and yes it's really hard, but it does feel great when you've finished as you say. I've also noticed a big difference in my body shape, a lot stronger but with lean muscles and a decent amount of weight loss. I should say that I'm a girl as well (not obvious from my username!) and I'm never going to have that skinny look, but the weights/ HIIT regime 4 times a week has really worked for me, and I don't completely dread doing it, which is half the battle!
  3. Thanks all. Tonyh - still better than Paris though? Think I'll go for Bruges. I'm a bit of a foodie CI, so Bruges sounds like the better option, and the boyfriend likes his beer so he'll be happy.
  4. I've got a few days spare and a voucher for Eurostar. Not really that fond of Paris, so thought I might try Belgium. Has anyone been to Brussels or Bruges for a city break, and if so, any good? If you've been to both, which would you recommend?
  5. I'm a commercial lawyer for John Lewis and Waitrose, moved in January from Currys/ PC World
  6. Yep, that's Veer Dhara. Tom Cruise visited last year when he was filming at Leavesden Studios. Really good food but yes, expensive.
  7. I moved to St Albans from Birmingham 3 years ago. Easy (but expensive) 25 minute commute into London, with trains that run to and from London all night. Nice little Roman town - lots of pubs, open space and 90 minutes up the motorway every other week for the Villa. Property is not far off London prices though, which is a bit crap.
  8. People who choose the treadmill/ cross-trainer/ bike right next to you at the gym when there's a whole bank of them free. But no, they have to use the one next to you. Why? Is it a competitive thing? Do they think they will run faster or longer with someone next to them? I like my personal space in the gym, I don't really want to be 30 cms away from some sweaty hairy fat bloke at 6.30am.
  9. I've got 2 tickets for this game, but can't make it any more. If anyone wants the tickets, PM me.
  10. OK, so I work as a lawyer for an electrical retailer (not Richer Sounds - sorry!). As a consumer, you're entitled to rely on an implied warranty under the Sales of Goods Act that the goods are fit for purpose, provided that you made the purpose clear at the time of purchase. If you have evidence of your Q&A in writing (on eBay), it should be pretty straightforward to return. The 7 (or 14, 28 etc) day period for return where there is no fault or breach of implied warranty is actually a gesture of goodwill by retailers - they have no legal obligation to accept a return where someone has changed their mind, but in your case, quote the SOGA and implied warranty of fitness for purpose, and you should be fine. PM me if you have trouble.
  11. I'm in P6. Always go to Fulham away - definitely the best away day.
  12. Just got back from the game. They probably deserved to win, but Bale is a diving little shit (which we knew already). Could have been a completely different result had Benteke scored that header.
  13. As Adam2003 says, it is likely that this is a counterclaim from PL. Pat Murphy, 5 Live Midlands football correspondent (I know, MON lover and Villa hater at times) has said on Twitter that Norwich are seeking compensation from PL for breaking his contract by leaving for Villa. As a result, It's likely that PL has issued a counteclaim stating that Norwich were actually in breach of contract first as his contract apparently had a clause which allowed PL to speak to other clubs, which Norwich then refused to allow him to do. So, technically (sorry for the legal speak), PL is likely to be saying that Norwich were in repudiatory breach of the contract, he accepted that repudiation, the contract was terminated as a result and he is technically entitled to compensation as Norwich's breach occured first (although whether he has suffered any loss is another matter, given that he moved to a higher paid jon). Of course, this is all speculation, but as a commercial litigation lawyer and going on what Pat Murphy has said, I think that's probably what's happening. It's probably all a tactic by PL and his advisers to get Norwich to drop their claim - I can't imagine that PL actually expects to be paid £2m, he just doesn't expect to pay anything out to Norwich.
  14. Hi everyone, it's my first time at White Hart Lane in at least 15 years and I'm planning to drive rather than get the train as I live in Hertfordshire. Can anyone recommend somewhere decent to park where I'm not going to get a parking ticket (I don't mind paying, within reason)? Thanks, see you all there.
  15. When I was about 13 at a girls' grammar school in Birmingham, my form teacher and another male teacher were both seeing sixth formers. They even flew out to Italy where the girls were on an A' level field trip to be with them. The Sun found out, we had reporters and photographers outside the school and both left the school pretty quickly (although I'm pretty sure they weren't sacked). This was before it became illegal for teachers to have relationships with pupils aged 16-18, but I still can't believe it happened so brazenly - we all knew about it for months before they were sacked. One of the girls was our form assistant (every form had a sixth former who helped out with registration etc), and her and the teacher used to disappear into the technology prep room on a fairly regular basis. We all knew not to disturb them. Makes me a feel a bit sick thinking about it now - they were just 16 year old, impressionable kids.
  16. Great news Xela. Must have been pretty unsettling for him, so glad he's got back into the job market quickly. I'm on my second glass of wine already and have to be on a conference call at 7am tomorrow. This could end badly...
  17. Getting a job offer before I had to go for a second interview, as they apparently liked me so much that a second interview isn't necessary (although they have given me the option to meet the team before I accept). Those who have seen my post in the "Things that piss you off but shouldn't" thread will know how much satisfaction it will give me to hand my notice in to my current boss next week. Right, I'm off for celebratory drinks.
  18. Thanks Tonyh29, very nice to meet you. Although I've been around the forum long enough now to become immune to VT sexcases (not accusing you of this GarethRDR, but I was definitely expecting you to pop up with the Postma picture!).
  19. She is just a word removed. And Brumerican, I don't have the right appendage for that (I'm a woman as well). Although she'd probably quite like it that way.
  20. My boss. She's just come back from 2 weeks holiday and given me a massive bollocking for emailing her once last week when I knew she was checking her Blackberry and needed her approval for a project to stop it over-running and getting us (as a company) into massive trouble. Apparently it's not fair to contact her on holiday as she needed a break (to put it into context, she's General Counsel and Company Secretary of a FTSE 350 company and on a salary of £500k, so not exactly a 9-5 job). She then proceeded to tell me that when she's away, I must keep her updated and should copy her in on all emails. So pretty much a no-win situation for me there then.
  21. Yacht. Why would it be spelt like that? Despite being quite good with other spellings, that one always gets me.
