  1. Are Micah Richards and Nedem Onouha both right backs? If so, has anyone seen Onouha play much recently? He was in the England under 21's and hasn't got any game time at City. Could be a decent buy if we are resigned to selling Young.
  2. But who will they bring in? They can't bring in CL quality players because they'll struggle to attract them. Their strike force consists of Teves, Adebayor, Bellamy, Santa Cruz, Robinho - they're not going to find many players better than Teves, Adebayor and, at times, Bellamy. And if they do a full revamp then, as I've said in numerous threads, they'll have the problem of the squad gelling together like they have this year. I think the only way they can realistically improve is by buying 3 or 4 players to replace people in their current squad who are either unhappy or haven't impressed. (Replacing Santa Cruz/ Robinho/ some of their defence).. And if they do that then they're not going to have a squad too dissimilar to this years.
  3. I don't think we're going to see a massive improvement in Spurs and Man City this summer. Spurs probably will buy 2 or 3 players who will only move for Champs League football. Man City, however, probably won't do much. They can't buy many players better than what they already have. Unless they plan to do a complete shuffle again - in which case they'll have the same problem as this year in that they have a team that need to gel together before they start to play well. Either way - I don't think we'll see a huge change in "The Race for 4th" and also don't think we'll need to spend loads and loads to put up a fight.
  4. With the exception of NRC that is just replacing chaff with more chaff. In my opinion they'd all be good buys and would cost less than the players we're rumoured to get rid of. Fletcher is young and has done well in a poor Burnley team. He's a more natural finisher than Gabby (but without the pace and experience). Bullard can score penalties, long range efforts and is really good at controlling the game from the centre of midfield. I'd much prefer Bullard to replace Petrov on 60 minutes to help us see out a game/ sustain a win than seeing Sidwell brought on. Do you disagree?
  5. If the rumours are true and we are listening to offers for 6 players then Bullard, Fletcher & Kevin-Prince Boateng would be decent, cut-price replacements for some of the squaddies. Fletcher for Harewood Bullard for Sidwell KP Boateng for NRC
  6. Yeah, there's a thread for this in "Other Football". I think the general shouts were for Bullard (Hull), Fletcher (Burnley) and Kevin-Prince Boateng (Pompey). I'd like all 3 of them at Villa but only as bench warmers/ rotation players (which wouldn't be a bad idea if they were to replace Sidwell, Harewood and NRC). I'd much prefer the idea of bringing on Bullard for 40 minutes, to control the midfield and take a few long shots at goal, than bringing on Sidwell to hoof the ball into the crowd with every touch.
  7. Po-ta-toes.. ..Lord of the Rings geek 8)
  8. So they're all up for sale.. Sidwell - good Shorey - good NRC - good, as there's no use keeping him if we don't play him Beye - good Davies- I'd prefer him to stay Luke Young - Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I might send Randy an email and give him the heads up that we'll make more money from football and transfers if we sell that spanish chap with the beard.
  9. My favourite thread is back! Firstly - I cannot see us getting Darren Bent. Sunderland bought him for more than £15m so they'd want at least 20-25m which is probably out of our range. (Also the rumours Today are, as unlikely as it sounds, that Mancini wants him) I think, realistically, that we'll get someone like Robbie Keane. I can't see us going abroad or buying someone who could be a risk. I hope that Randy gives us a small pot of funds to work with, which we can then add to the money from selling Shorey/ Heskey/ Sidwell/ possibly Davies/L Young etc.
  10. If so, chappy, then that is more than alright! lol... but if not then I have beef
  11. I don't want to get my head bitten off if I am mistaken. But I THOUGHT I breifly heard a chant of "We want the special one" yesterday in the Holte. If so - I think that's a bit harsh on MON and disrespectful after what he has done for us. If MON was to leave, then fine - speculate and chant anyone's name. But while he is our manager I think chants like this shouldn't be heard. He's brought us far and I'd hate to think that that could one of his lasting memories if he was to leave in the summer. Like I said - I could be wrong (if so, good!) but that's what me and my mate thought we heard..
  12. I thought he was one of our better players tbh. And since when was Luke Young the next Cafu? Same here Milfner.. I think when some people hear something often enough.. they start to believe it. No-matter what happens on the pitch
  13. I'm starting to get really, **** p*ssed off at all the Downing-bashing on this site. Downing was decent today and put in at least 4 top quality crosses. One was cleared off the line after Collins (I think) got a head to it, one just evaded Milner who was close to scoring and one forced a good save from Robinson in the top corner. Weak? Yes.. he's a little bit light-weight and he has come back from a serious injury.. But I wouldn't say he was weak to the extent that it gets mentioned on this site. He went flying into some challenges Today. He flew into one and got a kick in the chest from one of the dirty Blackburn players. All of you.. find someone else to moan about for once. My MOTM is... ermmmm... Luke Young. No-one stood out Today and Luke Young played really well on his wrong side. Milner was inspirational, as usual, but scuffed a couple of chances and passes. Petrov was infuriating with his want to get a goal and avoiding the chance to pass to others who were in much better positions. Ash was decent and put in some good crosses, Downing the same. The ref, the linesman and the whole Blackburn team were awful. Their goal shouldn't have stood because there was a blatant foul on Fonzie 2 seconds earlier.
  14. I wonder who's been dropped for him to get on the bench (I hope it's Heskey, but I think it'll be Beye)
  15. paulo wait and see you will be eating those words im afraid as i think liverpool will get taken over by a major wealthy person spurs spend about that already! they will spend bigger now and can attract world class players like huntelaar, van nisterooy etc i reckon. put it this way now any player that we and spurs want they will go to them ahead of us, same applies with citeh. at least before it would have been just citeh. this benefits them greatly and as someone said i think we blew our chance and now w e can only hope for 6th/7th next year We'll just have to wait and see wont we? I don't think next season will be too different to this season. Teams will slip up, small teams will beat some big teams. Each team will make improvements. Man City have a squad of immense talent and yet they couldn't get 4th. If they bring in more players then they'll have the same problem of not having a team that has played much together. Spurs will be a threat because they have a good squad that plays well as a team. But, like you said, they spend a lot on players already - so I can't see it making a huge difference. Would their team really be that much better with Huntelaar, Van Nistlerooy and another good player?
  16. i dont think so citeh will still spend millions and i expect liverpool to as well, just makes it extra diffcult for us next year If Man City had got 4th then they'd be able to attract a much better type of player than they can now. They would spend money big-time and would permanantly replace Liverpool in the top 4. Who wants that? (Not me!) Because Spurs have finished 4th - it'll still be a race for 4th next year. I can see Man City bringing in players but they won't bring in many players better than what they already have. Spurs will probably spend £10-15m on 2 or 3 players but it still won't be a huge difference to their squad (yes, they'll have a few better quality players - but nothing to the extent that will cement their place in the Top 4).
  17. If Stephen Ireland could be bought for 6/7 million then I'd happily have him in a villa shirt. Not too bothered about the fact that he has a reputation. If we were to buy him, I'd trust MON to mentor him correctly. Also - it'd be nice to have someone with a bit of fire in our team. Heskey can only get upset once a year otherwise he wears himself out.
  18. Stephen Ireland has confirmed that his Man City future is in question (in a Manc paper Today). I'd love us to snap him up (even though he's not the defensive midfielder that we could do with)
  19. This is the first game all season that I really want spurs to win! If Man City win and get 4th it will be sickening. After the recent defeat, after Barry moving for Champs League and the fact that their fans are smug as f*ck. Come on Spuuurrrsssss!!!!!!!! (although I heard on the radio that Gomez and King are injury doubts)
  20. I like it, I even like the checkered blue on the side and the vodafone logo looks decent in white on the claret body.
  21. Let's go for a heavy win to end the season on a high! Friedel L Young Cuellar Dunne Warnock A Young Milner Stan Downing Carew Gabby Fonzie and NRC being brought on around 60/70 minute. Downing to score and to silence the people who are angry that he's not Ashley "run past a player like a french-fancy then lose the ball" Young. (Although they will only be silenced until he has another average game).
  22. Jesus christ I can't believe the amount of b*tchiness on this forum at the moment..
  23. Fenix TX - Katie W any pop punkers out there?!
  24. Anyone know of a catchy song with the words "invincible" or "indestructable" in that we can use for Milner?
  25. I just read this on Skysports.. Hahaaaaaaaaaa! "Carr was asked to explain his gesture to the Villa fans..." Carr: "erm, well.. they were mocking me, and.. errm.. I was already worked up because I'd been jumping around quite a lot and I have to watch my blood pressure.. erm.. I heard one of them call me a monkey!" (not actual quotes, btw)
