  1. I've just seen this on the OS from Heskey.. "What happened was I tried to turn the ball around the corner and fell backwards on to him."
  2. Damn! I've just thought of a chant that we could have used against the Blues!.. For the Avril Lavigne fans out there.. Hey Hey, Chucho, You play like my girlfriend, :winkold:
  3. Is that definate? Someone mentioned earlier in the thread that Arsenal had "Fly Emirates" but the company is just called "Emirates" ?
  4. Do they have a nice logo? (come on.. that's all we really care about! lol)
  5. That's a shame Demetri, I quote like their logo
  6. Fair enough wiggyrichard. To me, he just seems to be one of those players that used to be really good & that is coming to the end of his career, therefore will probably get a cushty transfer to a big club to be an impact sub or something. But I suppose if he's hoping to play in the next international competition then he might go somewhere to re-ignite the latter stages of his career.
  7. Or Viera at Man City.. I think that Ballack could end up at Real, just to have a few relaxing years in the sun to see out his career.
  8. Whether we keep Milner or not. I'd love us to try and Arsenal-esque set-up. Buy a strong, tall, defensive midfielder and have two attacking centre midfielders in front of him.. -------------------- Gabby -------------------- Young ------------------------------- Downing ---------- Boussoufa ----- Milner ------------- -------------------- Big DM -------------------- With the option to bring Delph into the position of Milner/ Boussoufa throughout the season. And then there's always the option of switching to a 4-4-2 for the ever-needed "Plan B"
  9. Would quite like to see Belletti at VP, as much for his versatility to play defensive midfielder if required when Stan is inevitably **** after 60 minutes each week......I think Fulham might also have got a good'un in M'bokani from Std Liege......looks powerful with a good scoring record and £8m seems reasonable enough.... I'd like us to get Belletti. He has experience at the highest level and could fill one of the gaps in our team for free (plus, possibly modest, wages). I hope we take advantage of getting a few free players. Then the money raised from selling Sidwell, Luke Young, Beye, Shorey etc could be used to spend on positions that we need to strenthen.
  10. What about Belletti? Anyone think he could do at job at Villa. Rightback, prem experience, released on a free...
  11. What I spotted was that on the top horizontal line of the "F", there seems to be a bit of dark shading in the middle which joins up with a crease in the shirt (if you look directly above the "F"). It's pretty small (and proves I'm a geek) but I could see this being a mock up of the shirt done by the club.
  12. I hope that is the real 3rd shirt, maybe it'll shoot down the people who seem to moan at VTers who simply repeat rumours :? It's quite a simple design. It doesn't look amazing on the 3rd kit but I recon it'd look half decent on the home kit. Maybe it'd be white writing on the claret background, could look ok
  13. He sat out training because he had a temperature.. Well I guess we've discovered his one weakness.. heat.
  14. Totally agree, and you're probably right with those figures! I'd like to think if we were to sell Gabby for £22m, then we could replace him with much better for the same cost. Although, i don't know anyone who to replace him with, so my argument is pretty stupid really Only as stupid as this topic... :winkold: ... which I actually enjoy! For £22m we could probably buy Radamel Falcao lol
  15. PieFacE, I suppose it boils down to whether we value a player at what he is ACTUALLY worth or what a team would pay for him. If we were in debt and needed to sell some players straight away then we'd probably get a price closer to their real value. Milner - £17m? Gabby - £13m? Young - £15m? They're my guesses. But we'd be stupid to sell them for that amount in our current situation.
  16. I wouldn't. In 2 years time we'd be regretting it - Keane would be winding down his career and Gabby will probably still be improving and breaking into the England team.
  17. Of course. I understand that and don't expect all transfers to be done but around half. Let's be honest, in his whole time as Villa manager, generally, we signed players towards the later stages of the window rather than the first 6 weeks. So it's obviously something he prefers rather than sorting out the deals early. As we know, he goes on holiday just after the season as well. It's not as if, he's been in charge 4 seasons and been late in moving just once. It's every year. I believe getting the right player is more important than the time but it would be nice and beneficial if we did do transfers a little earlier... Maybe the wheeler-and-dealer in MON knows that if he does his deals near the end of the window, then the clubs we're buying from don't have as long to try and get a better price. It's our price or nothing. Although.. if that was the preferred method then we'd have to be constantly crossing our fingers that our targets didn't get sold to other clubs!
  18. astonvilla news & views You can read the original posts here.. that's where I read them because I, also, was late to read them before they were deleted! :winkold:
  19. I really want to get this game, but I've only just got my PS3 and I have GTA4, Fifa World Cup, LittleBigPlanet, Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 & Sega Megadrive Collection to play yet!
  20. i wish you was right but sadly i havent seen anything to suggest delph will be anywhere near as good as milner. hopefully in due course he might but at present not convinced Delph is a different type of player to Milner, but I think he'll be just as good - if not better! Delph is so comfortable on the ball, he has a lot more skill and technical ability than Milner. He dribbles around players with the ball almost stuck to his foot. All he needs is a bit of Premiership experience and he'll be a major player for us and, I believe in time, England. Delph was our best player on the pitch against Blackburn in the FA Cup - even if he only played half a game. It was his vision for a crossfield pass to Young who then set up our first goal IIRC.
  21. that shirt would be gash..
  22. ..... Hang on a minute.... I said this to you last week when I came to your house!??!!!! What else have you been spouting around VT as "your own"?.... I'm gonna check all your posts!
