  1. I don't want to get my head bitten off if I am mistaken. But I THOUGHT I breifly heard a chant of "We want the special one" yesterday in the Holte. If so - I think that's a bit harsh on MON and disrespectful after what he has done for us. If MON was to leave, then fine - speculate and chant anyone's name. But while he is our manager I think chants like this shouldn't be heard. He's brought us far and I'd hate to think that that could one of his lasting memories if he was to leave in the summer. Like I said - I could be wrong (if so, good!) but that's what me and my mate thought we heard..
  2. I thought he was one of our better players tbh. And since when was Luke Young the next Cafu? Same here Milfner.. I think when some people hear something often enough.. they start to believe it. No-matter what happens on the pitch
  3. I'm starting to get really, **** p*ssed off at all the Downing-bashing on this site. Downing was decent today and put in at least 4 top quality crosses. One was cleared off the line after Collins (I think) got a head to it, one just evaded Milner who was close to scoring and one forced a good save from Robinson in the top corner. Weak? Yes.. he's a little bit light-weight and he has come back from a serious injury.. But I wouldn't say he was weak to the extent that it gets mentioned on this site. He went flying into some challenges Today. He flew into one and got a kick in the chest from one of the dirty Blackburn players. All of you.. find someone else to moan about for once. My MOTM is... ermmmm... Luke Young. No-one stood out Today and Luke Young played really well on his wrong side. Milner was inspirational, as usual, but scuffed a couple of chances and passes. Petrov was infuriating with his want to get a goal and avoiding the chance to pass to others who were in much better positions. Ash was decent and put in some good crosses, Downing the same. The ref, the linesman and the whole Blackburn team were awful. Their goal shouldn't have stood because there was a blatant foul on Fonzie 2 seconds earlier.
  4. I wonder who's been dropped for him to get on the bench (I hope it's Heskey, but I think it'll be Beye)
  5. paulo wait and see you will be eating those words im afraid as i think liverpool will get taken over by a major wealthy person spurs spend about that already! they will spend bigger now and can attract world class players like huntelaar, van nisterooy etc i reckon. put it this way now any player that we and spurs want they will go to them ahead of us, same applies with citeh. at least before it would have been just citeh. this benefits them greatly and as someone said i think we blew our chance and now w e can only hope for 6th/7th next year We'll just have to wait and see wont we? I don't think next season will be too different to this season. Teams will slip up, small teams will beat some big teams. Each team will make improvements. Man City have a squad of immense talent and yet they couldn't get 4th. If they bring in more players then they'll have the same problem of not having a team that has played much together. Spurs will be a threat because they have a good squad that plays well as a team. But, like you said, they spend a lot on players already - so I can't see it making a huge difference. Would their team really be that much better with Huntelaar, Van Nistlerooy and another good player?
  6. i dont think so citeh will still spend millions and i expect liverpool to as well, just makes it extra diffcult for us next year If Man City had got 4th then they'd be able to attract a much better type of player than they can now. They would spend money big-time and would permanantly replace Liverpool in the top 4. Who wants that? (Not me!) Because Spurs have finished 4th - it'll still be a race for 4th next year. I can see Man City bringing in players but they won't bring in many players better than what they already have. Spurs will probably spend £10-15m on 2 or 3 players but it still won't be a huge difference to their squad (yes, they'll have a few better quality players - but nothing to the extent that will cement their place in the Top 4).
  7. If Stephen Ireland could be bought for 6/7 million then I'd happily have him in a villa shirt. Not too bothered about the fact that he has a reputation. If we were to buy him, I'd trust MON to mentor him correctly. Also - it'd be nice to have someone with a bit of fire in our team. Heskey can only get upset once a year otherwise he wears himself out.
  8. Stephen Ireland has confirmed that his Man City future is in question (in a Manc paper Today). I'd love us to snap him up (even though he's not the defensive midfielder that we could do with)
  9. This is the first game all season that I really want spurs to win! If Man City win and get 4th it will be sickening. After the recent defeat, after Barry moving for Champs League and the fact that their fans are smug as f*ck. Come on Spuuurrrsssss!!!!!!!! (although I heard on the radio that Gomez and King are injury doubts)
  10. I like it, I even like the checkered blue on the side and the vodafone logo looks decent in white on the claret body.
  11. Let's go for a heavy win to end the season on a high! Friedel L Young Cuellar Dunne Warnock A Young Milner Stan Downing Carew Gabby Fonzie and NRC being brought on around 60/70 minute. Downing to score and to silence the people who are angry that he's not Ashley "run past a player like a french-fancy then lose the ball" Young. (Although they will only be silenced until he has another average game).
  12. Jesus christ I can't believe the amount of b*tchiness on this forum at the moment..
  13. Fenix TX - Katie W any pop punkers out there?!
  14. Anyone know of a catchy song with the words "invincible" or "indestructable" in that we can use for Milner?
  15. I just read this on Skysports.. Hahaaaaaaaaaa! "Carr was asked to explain his gesture to the Villa fans..." Carr: "erm, well.. they were mocking me, and.. errm.. I was already worked up because I'd been jumping around quite a lot and I have to watch my blood pressure.. erm.. I heard one of them call me a monkey!" (not actual quotes, btw)
  16. Red Bull should sponsor us and then do an advert with Jimmy! Or Energiser Batteries..
  17. :? Why. He is one of our best defenders and the third best in the league, statistically. Just not very good going forward. But, not only does Cuellar waste a few passes when going forward, he also gets caught out of position when attacking on the wing (can't blame him - he's a CB). This could easily let Bellamy turn him, race down the wing and put a cross or shot in.
  18. This was my main frustration when the final whistle blew. We played some really nice stuff around the centre of the pitch - but all of our goals (and their's come to think of it!) came from crosses & headers. I like to think that MON is working on a new gameplan and that tonight was a sneak preview! In MON I Trust!!
  19. I didn't see what happened but I saw the cheering and him climbing out of the stand. I'm guessing he hit someone with the ball (lets face it, as long as they weren't standing in the goal he'd probably hit them)
  20. Again with the Downing bashing.. I don't get it? Was there really that many challenges that he pulled out of or didn't go for? As far as I could see, from the Holte, Downing played well and didn't shy away from any challenges..
  21. Downing was quality in the first half but faded in the second, like quite a few of our players - so not quite sure why he keeps getting picked out by quite a lot of posters. Also he went flying into a few challenges tonight, I think he's slowly getting his confidence back. Cuellar was good tonight; it does seem that his passing has improved! Has anyone seen replays of the "foul" that lead to the free kick and their goal? I was at the game and it didn't look like a foul to us. Well done to everyone in the stand for the chants: "Sh*t refs, we only get sh*t refs, we only get sh*t refs" Overall - happy with a draw as it could have been much worse, good to see Delfouneso get an appearance above Heskey and some really good passing in the first half. Hopefully that is what Martin is aiming for; a nice, structured passing team.
  22. escapade.co.uk <-- that's where we got both of our costumes! Join in and lets all finish the season in style... lol (there is a big condom costume... come onnnnn... someone?)
  23. Me and my mate have just bought fancy dress costumes for his birthday so, if we get tickets, we'll be coming as a Chilli Pepper and Count Duckula 8)
  24. Hi General, I'd like to join the posters above in thanking yourself, Randy, MON and all the players & staff for a great season. We're still contesting for 4th, we've had 2 wembley appearances and we have played some really nice football! Some people may boo but that's just because they're passionate (I personally have only ever booed, like the people around me, at referee's decisions or opposing players - this may be mistaken by the press and then made into, what they cleverly call, "news"). One sour point that I would like to pass on for you to feedback (if necessary) is that I was on the official travel yesterday (Coach number 51) and there were 9 of us who were all expected to sit in 5 seats around a table at the back of the coach. It must have been assumed that it was a 52-seater coach (Whereas it was actually a 43-seater with a round table at the end). We all got moved into seats on other coaches eventually - but it was a bit of a hassle and could, hopefully, be avoided with better planning. Thanks again! Hope to see you at VP sometime soon! UTV!
  25. Downing, Milner & Warnock stand out for me. I've given my MOTM to Downing. We gave them a good game for 60 minutes. We played some really nice football. We defended as a team; they had the ball for 5/10 minute periods but barely did anything with it! The penalty decision could have changed the game and we might be looking at a 3rd Wembley appearance if it wasn't for Webb. .. After they scored we were chasing the game and lost our shape because we went all-out-attacking. It's still progress!
