  1. If it's a girl; flirt with the friend all evening and ignore the other one. At the end of the date, ask her for the friend's number. Laugh maniacally. If it's a guy; do the same. Laugh maniacally.
  2. I'm going ahead with it. I don't have many friends here...wouldn't hurt to make a new acquaintance.
  3. Not even sure if her friend's a girl or guy, come on.
  4. Is she also East Asian? That seems to be a thing that happens exclusive there on supposed 'dates'. Yes she is.

    Singapore & Japan

I fly back home around late Nov, so if you can postpone your trip there by a few days I can meet you for a beer, bring you around or something.
  6. Is this a line from a Victorian Romance Novel? Our Legov seems quite well spoken. What he meant to say was - I bin so f'in busy at work I forgot all bout the bitch! Btw only joking Legov, you're darling isn't really a bitch In Singlish - "I faking busy, so de jibai i dun care her liao"
  7. When's the 'date'? This Sat...will send her a text later today to confirm.
  8. Work has kept her out of my mind for the most part, and as a result I feel my feelings for her fading somewhat.

I don't think you should worry about straying too far "off the beaten track," Singapore is very safe - you're not going to get robbed in broad daylight just because you look like a tourist. When will you be going over?
  10. I don't know, certain variants of the Aussie accent are really starting to grate on me - and they sound naaaaaaaaaaaysal as ****
  11. Makes you wonder why/how Brummie gets so much stick. People don't like naaaaaysal accents.
  12. Good lord, I know the type - keep seeing them around Civic
  13. Could be, that's an interesting way to look at it. What am I then though? Still brown? I'm someone who looks "black" with Northwestern European and African ancestry, who grew up in a black and white family. Yes, but you are treated as black by those around you (strangers around you, anyway), and this is an experience you share with millions upon millions of other people around the world who live in white-majority societies and happen to be of African descent (and look more-or-less black). That's just one way of seeing it, of course.
  14. I've always seen the label "black" as a reference to someone's (presumed) ethnic background, rather than a reference to skin colour per se. Someone who looks "white" could identify himself as a black person, for example, if he has African ancestry, and/or grew up in a black family.
  15. Thought this was the "cheer you up" thread
  16. What makes you think she's thinking of the "date" that much? I mean, we had a good conversation, there was a connection, but I'll be surprised if she's thinking about our get-together at all, given how bloooooody long she takes to respond to a simple text. As for restaurants, nah I hate posh restaurants. Too expensive and too uppity. Little mom-and-pop place is the way to go.

  18. Some of those Latvian jokes are skirting the line between good-hearted humour and racism.
  19. Didn't specify. When she asked me why I had asked her if she was free, I replied by telling her that because we aren't in the same class, and because I'd like to keep in contact with her, that I'd like us to eat together someday. I also told her that I can show her around the city as well (she arrived about a week ago, I think? I've been here one year now, so.)
  20. What are the chances she sees it as a, ahem, date?
