  1. I think we have to be careful about him becoming a jack of all trades and a master at none. Think he would be a superb CB in the future, just need to be abit stronger.
  2. That the reason why I not to worry, I think all our home games are winnable Fulham, Blackburn, Stoke, Wigan, Wolves, Sunderland, Toon and Liverpool, I even think we can get a result against City if the atmosphere is right. Our main problem is we have 4-5 away games against our rivals at the bottom, our away form seem to be the problem this year. But thats one of the reason I not too harsh on Houllier, we had Man U, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and 2 derby matches at home in our last 7 home matches, we got the results against Blackpool and WestBrom, Spurs performance was poor and so was the first half against Arsenal, but the rest have been okay or good. Our Away form is the problem IMO.
  3. Too be fair, most fans can based their opinion on what they see on the pitch. In his defence he was never going to be a player who work ethic on the pitch were going to be praised, his work is normally done in the final 3rd. I always considered Ireland to be a luxury player, I think we missed an opportunity to play him off the striker while Young been injured.
  4. Definitely wouldn't sell in January, unless we get a top class replacement in, but in the summer, it maybe a different situation, but if we really going to lose Young in the summer, we can't really lose both left wingers
  5. I would sell for 12 million, been to inconsistent this season, been MOTM in quite a few games, but has gone missing in too many for me. We could try to get A Johnson or simply put Young back on the left with albrighton on the right and get a Bentley or SWP on loan till the end of the season as cover. But ideally would want him to stay til the end of the season.
  6. and what about the fact he's led us to have the worst goal difference in the premiership, has alienated many of our players, speaks to the press instead of the players, overtrains the players, doesn't work enough on tactics, has won 3 out of 14 games, prefers to lose to liverpool than to other teams....... is it worth signing a decent ageing midfielder for all that??? how about getting a manager who can inspire a team, build team morale, make the players tactically aware while on the pitch, speaks to the players rather than the press about his issues with them, win matches against waeker sides or even make his players not detest playing under his management? We went on a worse run under MON and we backed him to get us out and defensively we were pretty poor before he took over, we had the 6-0 lost before he signed and our defence went to pots before the end of last season with 20 odd goals in the last 10 games, which followed on this season. Also on alienated players, it was Carew who went public first, throwing his toys out of the pram when he knew that he had to fight for a new contract and it wasn't going to be given to him, that why we have such a disfunction sqaud we have player on big wages who done nothing, thats why players like Davies and NRC were pissed under MON and why we have such widespread conflict in the squad, I glad Houllier has come in and upset a few egos. At the end of the day Houllier hasn't had a pre season, or a group of players he happy with, he hasn't had the chance to make any signing and we had a run of hard fixture, which included 4 derby matches and playing the top 5 teams and our other fixture have been mostly against the top 9 teams. When the team has played for him we have seen some impressive performance like that against Fulham and United, So I personally backing him to find some form and get Villa out of this problem and next season to be back challenging near the top again.
  7. I think we need to back Houllier in this window, the facts is simple, we are more likely to attract the right sort of player with Houllier in charge, he spend the last 3 months working out his targets. If we get a new manager in, it going to take at least 2 weeks to appoint him and them 2 weeks to try and rush a couple of signings. With Houllier we at least going to sign some interesting players, there no where we be link with France under 19 captain or Mahamadou Diarra and Makoun with Fat Sam in charge.
  8. Decided to buy the black away one, but none at my local store, which didn't suprise me as they never sell them here, but it seem the special offer for the away one is off the website now, so doubt I buy one now, but order my nephew one instead.

    Snow Watch!

The weather getting to me now, no water upstairs for some reason, heating and downstairs water fine. Can't get through to water company as well.
  10. I think that Wigan do deserves credit for calling the game off when they did, imagine how pissed everyone would have been, if you travel all the way there and then told it was called off, like alot of clubs did.

    Snow Watch!

mmm... I'm sure countries who have this weather more often than the UK do cope better on most occasions although I did hear on the radio about a guy who spent two hours travelling just a few miles to Stockholm airport only to find it was shut because of snow. Also many individuals in 'snowy' countries swap to winter tyres which keep their vehicles moving; how many Brits go to that expense? If the UK spent a billion pounds more on infrastructure to cope better with snow and it didn't snow badly for a couple of years, can you imagine the Daily Mail / Daily Express style uproar? It's not some massive oversight. It's just the British climate, we have wet summers and mild winters. We might have a week of extreme snowfall once every two or three years. We could spend the money on permanent staff and equipment to keep it clear, but when the lads who have that for a job dont lift a finger for 18 months because it hasnt snowed, what do we do? Make them redundant? Make them environmental officer, who jobs would be to also deal with draught in the summer and other environmental issues all year round. Get the binmen drivers a option of driving a plough in the most extreme weathers to keep the roads clear on a competitive overtime rate. I personally think the government could do alot more, for not alot more money. Sitting back and saying its a freak event every years, not going to work. I don't belive we should spend a shedload of money at the problem, but should be more proactive when its occurs.
  12. Gutted, was my only weekend off in the next 7 weeks.
  13. Every boxer have the supporters as well as their haters. Joe had it, Froch has them as does Haye. There never going to give the fighter any credit no matter what they do. Yesterday Amir grew in that fight, he actually went to war with a warrior and won. It was nice to see a fight for once, considering all the one sided big fights there has been of late. Give the man credit where its due.
  14. General Unfortunately there was never going to be a answer good enough to please some people General. At the end of the day you and the board aren't responsible for what GH feels and do. I ain't going to lie and say that I not angry anymore, lost alot of respect for GH on Monday. But we all have Villa best interest at heart and getting rid of GH isn't a option at the moment, 4 managers in a season would be crazy. Not begruding GH affection for Liverpool, I think it great we have a manager that is held in such high regards by a club like Liverpool, but failing to acknowledge the passionate Villa fans singing all night, can't happen again, other teams show alot of respect for their fans going over and throwing their shirt to the fans and recognising their influence, which I hope the club take on board. One thing that GH has done with his behaviour is lost abit of goodwill from the fans, fans were willing to give GH a chance as he given the youth alot of time on the pitch and they have been spells of some really good football, we had such a bad injury list which I could never remember at Villa, but now its a situation of him having to start winning and winning well. If anything this should be a rallying cry for us to get behind the boys more then ever, as they need the supporters more then ever.
  15. Was discussing this with a mate and he said it's like your girlfriend telling you that she fancy your best mate, the trust I had in him to run Villa disappeared yesterday and I wish he disappears from Villa as well now.
  16. Can't believe his quote from yesterday, it absolute disgrace, I always been one of those supporter ready to back up the manager no matter what, but that was undefendable. -7 on a cold monday night in anfield, the villa fans done us proud, but GH seem to be living in the past, even before the game, some of the quotes about Carragher and SG, it rare not to hear a press conference from him without mentioning Liverpool. Yesterday you wouldn't know which team outperform the other last season. I was willing to back Houllier until the end of next season, but after yesterday comment, I couldn't care less if he leave tommorow. He a poor man version of Wenger.
  17. Yeah it does surprise me that we don't really have a song for the most successful team in Villa modern era. It would be a fitting tribute, but can't see it catching on with things currently at Villa.
  18. Its a pity, because I think it would sound very impressive, if it was sang, maybe using current players to get more people involved.
  19. I thought Man Utd sounded brillant at Villa Park, I think it would sound quality of we sang it including all our academy players, so we could include Bannan, Albrighton, Gardner, Clark, Delfounso, Gabby and maybe throw in Friedel, Young, Downing, Delph, Dunne and Collins. Or we can make it a song for the true Villa legends.
  20. Ireland surely will play behind the striker. Such a lightweight midfield. Suddenly starting to feel nervous about the match. I guessing If Ireland doesn't put on a performance we see Pires on and Young in the middle again.
  21. Personally would have him second choice behind Gabby, with Heskey or Carew coming on to hold the ball up or giving us another option, but if gabby not fit, I would go for Nathan. Seem to have a good attitude and talent to make it to the top, I think its a question of character in him now, whether the desire and the will to win is strong enough to make him want to be one of the best in the premier league, I think that where alot of young talent are wasted.
  22. Knew it was a mismatch of boxing on Saturday, which is why I didn't bother watching it, Manny was always going to beat that cheat and fraud Margarito, who IMO didn't deserve this shot. The same with Harrison and Haye, it was only market well being that they were both British. Can't wait for the 27th though, we going to have some generally 50/50 fights on that night with Juan Manuel Marquez - Michael Katsidis, Arthur Abraham - Carl Froch gutted the Andre Ward - Andre Dirrel fight ain't happening.
  23. Are you speaking for all Villa fans? The supporters behind me were saying he will be a good championship striker at best. Nothing wrong with questioning his effort in the games, but people on this thread and generally have question his desire to suceed.
  24. The game definitely pass him by in the first half, luckily in the second half we used the wings more and he looked pretty decent and a good tackler. Think a season on loan would help him this season, because will only develop with game time, could be pushing the first teamers in a couple of years and not a bad back up.
  25. Don't really have a problem with Delfounso, just think he need to know how to lead the line a front for us, you could see once Gabby went off, we couldn't hold the ball up and his decision making could be a bit better. He only 19 and I think if he shows enough commitment, he could be a regular for Villa soon enough. His attitude seem spot on, I think if he take Gabby as a role model he be fine as Gabby seem to improve every season for us, adding a new dimension to his game. Think its incredible some people are writing him off already.
