  1. Isn't Vilhena like 17 years old? He'd be a very good signing, as long as a more experienced midfielder is being bought in as well. On a side note, why do Villa fans all over Twitter keep retweeting this Villa_Source guy like he is gospel? He had about 5 followers a week ago.
  2. Guidetti and Weimann seem like pretty similar players in what they can do and bring to the table. Both share about the same experience also. Don't think strikers should be a priority unless Darren Bent goes, as we got 3 decent ones and 1 that doesn't score many anymore. Would take that Pierre Emmerick Aubamayang player though, seems fast and versatile so can play as a winger just as well.
  3. Theres going to be a shit load of jizz flying around on here then if he signs. This could get messy.
  4. Matt Lowton's brother who is a Chesterfield fan, lets just say, he clearly doesn't rate this player.
  5. Just what we need, a non-prolific league 2 striker...
  6. Hope we can sign Joe Bennett, saw him for England U21's and looked very accomplished. He is rated highly.
  7. N'Zonzi and N'Zogbia. Bent and Benteke. I can see a pattern forming at Villa.
  8. Sky Sports saying the player is now on strike since bid rejected, unless I heard wrong, only just switched on SSN.
  9. Huth has just signed a new contract Roy,we need some backbone in the team,a complete new spine imo;Keeper,CH,CM& CF. Still would be cheaper than Shawcross, as he is 3 years older and not English. Your right a new spine is needed. Don't think a keep is needed though. Left back more important than another keeper.
  10. Huth is better than Shawcross imo, just as good at defending and scores plenty of goals.
  11. Just watched the highlights of Blackpool's 6-0, think Tom Ince was involved/scoring of each goal in that game. Was against signing him initially, but he looks like one hell of a player. Apparently bids have also been received from Premier League clubs for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis according to SSN, would take him at Villa, Fulham are interested.
  12. Hope it comes to nothing, Wolves friends can't wait to get rid of him. Doyle didn't set up many or score hardly any goals last season for Wolves. Surely Wolves would ask for a stupid price for him too.
  13. They might be able to play that position, but consistently at the highest level? Don't think so.
  14. I'd be very happy with Dawson, think he is a top draw defender (as long as he stays clear from long term injury). He was Spurs best defender before he got injured last season and was playing for England. Seems like a good character to have around the dressing room too, a strong character. Captain material, we need more players like that at the club.

to stay up? yes, by a 5-8 point margin What have you seen from this squad that makes you think that? All other teams in the league have strengthened and look stronger remember too. All the positive talk from Lambert, Faulkner and co preseason has been pointing towards having a much better season that last year, though I find that hard to see realised if we don't invest in the this small/low in quality squad of players.

it's stronger than this time last year That's debatable. I'd say we are about the same, but less experienced. We were unbeaten for quite a while at the start of last season, hopefully we start picking up some points soon. I'm getting worried, the squad is very, very weak.

Yeah and they were not replaced at all... Well they were, by players from our reserves/youth.

Baggies have been up and down in the league's building the squad they have. We can't afford to do that can we? By "Big Signings" I mean just some decent players who are proven in respected league, not just free signings or players up to £3m. The Premier League is becoming even more competitive, pretty much every other club is strengthening/getting better, whilst we are standing still/going backward. Isn't our revenue like the 20th highest in Europe? Only Spurs, City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and United have higher than us. Randy does need to throw money at the squad, it's full of "youth" players that are not actually that young and are not really that good at this level. It is unbelievable light. Do we have any players that get bums off seats? Can't think of any and struggle to think of a time in my 24 years that Villa didn't have one of those type of players. Randy does need to pull his finger out!

Mick McCarthy summed up our team on Goals on Sunday, the team that played yesterday would have been a reserve team for Villa 2 years ago. Our squad is absolute w+nk. It is relegation fodder right now, 3/1 odds on relegation at the moment 2 games in. Reading around on other forums, we seem like many peoples favourites for relegation. Was reading Sunderland's SMB board, one was saying when reading through our team sheet they were saying "who?" to every other player. Randy Lerner's extreme cost cutting is sabotaging our team. We were matching teams like Everton even when Gerard Houllier was here, even last season we got 2 draws against them and were perhaps the better team in the home game. Yesterday was embarrassing, as was West Ham who we failed to create a single chance against. Big signings are needed to stop this rapid decline.
  20. Whilst I think those could be good signings, I think the squad is crying out for some experience, a couple of 25 year old + players and a couple of quality younger players. AVFC needs a spine, it doesn't really have much of one right now.
  21. The fans are well behind the team when they are on the pitch, they were today from the start, you could tell the fans wanted to help the lads on, but it is a two way thing. The fans tried, but got nothing back from the players. There are a lot of negatives to discuss right now after the first two matches, no point papering over the cracks. There hasn't exactly been any big signals to the fans that we are going to improve the squad considerably next week, something that is needed to help avoid what could be a disaster this season. Right now, the squad is just, well, shite basically.

Our squad right now is considerably worse than the squad that started last season off. We need 4 quality players, ideally more. The current squad, playing for a whole season is as good as down! Today was even worse than the home games we had under McLiesh... Can't believe I just said that. Lerner really needs to open that chequebook and splash some serious cash. Getting a bit fed up with Villa's performances ruining my saturday's or sundays. It's been none stop without rest-bite pretty much since the start of 2012. 1 win in 18 is it?
  23. Fed up. Absolutely shocking until the last 10 minutes. We got battered from minute 2. We need 4 good players minimum. So shit. Ahmadi gets my vote for showing some fight.
  24. That fella could have supplied Benty some goals this season. Shame, I think he'll be a cracking player for Sunderland. When Bent came to Villa he talked about the great supply he'd get here. Now Sunderland have Johnson, McClean, Sessegnon and Larsson. We have Bannan.
