  1. We are better off signing a winger than a striker and just use one of Gabby or Weimann in their correct position if push comes to shove.
  2. Hoolahan was absolute class when Norwich came to Villa Park last season (when they drew 1-1). Man of the match. Could be a useful player for us. Worth it for anything below £3 million.
  3. Kristof Terreur ‏@HLNinEngeland 13m Steven #Defour is not the first choice of #AVFC manager Paul #Lambert. He's on Villa's list of possible targets, though he'll be expensive.
  4. Bloody hell, HairyHands can never be doubted now! Shocking news for Villa and Libor. I wonder if Lambert(hairy hands) will sign a striker now then or maybe bring one in on loan? Lamberts two best signings of the summer now both out for the season.
  5. I agree, wouldn't exactly improve the team, he'd just be another second rate sub on the bench like half the signings Lambert has already bought in during transfer windows. We need players to improve the starting 11 after-all.
  6. I've never seen anything from watching Michael Mancienne to say he a better center back than Clark or Baker. He's one of those players who plays in a few positions to a pretty basic level at best. Are we talking about the same Mancienne who struggled to hold down a place in the a crap Wolves team during his final loan stint? The one who has played 1 game for Hamburg this season? Where is the link to him anyway? Can't find anything.
  7. The same Mancienne who has only played like 1 game for a relegation threatened Hamburg this season?
  8. Kristof Terreur ‏@HLNinEngeland 46m Chelsea's initial asking price for Kevin De Bruyne: £25m. Wolfsburg have opened the negotiations to lower the fee on Monday. #CFC Well out of our price range for De Bruyne, unless they let him go out on loan.
  9. Can't see Milner happening, seems to get just about enough game time for Man City. Manager likes to bring him on every game he doesn't start for them. With them competing in all competitions, they'll want to keep hold of Milner I'd imagine.
  10. Who is exciting that would potentially be up for loan? Zaha? You gotta look at Spurs for loan signings, they've ended up well over stacking their midfield. Reports going round that Lamela wants a loan or move to keep his World Cup hopes alive for Argentina, that would probably be a meltdown type caliber loan signing. Hardly getting a look in at Spurs, they might feel a loan to a Premier League club may do him the world of good for the future, as they invested a lot in him, wouldn't want him on the bench all the time. Unlikely deal though I'd imagine for us. De Bruyne of Chelsea would also be another exciting loan.
  11. Not the sort of player we need right now. Another young player and is very temperamental. Yeah he is a talent, but don't think he'd be the sort of player to fix our problems in the short term.
  12. About £6-8 million I'd imagine. Linked with Liverpool.
  13. We do seem to be heading in the wrong direction under Lambert, after a promising middle period. When we played Swansea at home last season, we were superb and took the game to them and actually looked decent. Since then, Lambert has bought in more of his own players and so we play them a year later and find ourselves played off the park, scraping a draw somehow. The players who have left the club (Ireland, Bent, Bannan and co) were not great don't get me wrong, but the ones bought in to replace them, are shocking. Lambert's fault. My only defense of not getting rid of him, is the next manager will want another long transition period. We've had that same story for the past 3 and half years, don't think I could stand yet another transition period. Give him the January transfer window, back him and some more time hopefully fixing things on the training ground, then if we only scrape through the season playing rubbish football, sack him.
  14. I'm only for playing Weimann if he is played in his correct position. He's dogshite as a winger. The lad is desperate for a goal, because he isn't really a bad finisher. Bent called him one of the best finishers he's worked with.
  15. Something has gotta give. Either a sacking or a big stack of money thrown at Lamburk.
  16. Villas-Boas has a team that cost millions and they have only scored one more goal at home than us and have been thumped 0-5 by Liverpool. Hardly scoring, but still have managing to fire 6 past us without us responding in 2 games this season...
  17. Just watched this game, lost 0-3 to Fulham. Bowery even looks out of depth at U-21 level. A poor misplaced pass from him led to Fulham's first goal. Makes the Heskey seem like Christiano Ronaldo in the goal threat department. Rather a young talent have a place in the squad than Bowery, hasn't really done anything in his career to date to deserve a place in a Premier League squad. On the side note, we didn't seem to have any other central midfielders tonight other than Johnson. Drennan, who is very much a poacher, was playing in CM. Surprised they didn't promote an U18 regular to play in midfield. Shame we are out of this competition, would have been a good experience for the young players and game time.
  18. Make that £6 million now. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-target-ryan-gauld-2848312?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter Watching the highlights from the game he played against Patrick Thistle, looks very, very impressive, and only 17 too. Linked with Liverpool, United and Madrid, so doubt we'd have much chance now.
  19. Played 90 mins for Netherlands against Colombia, in which most of the game Netherlands had 10 men. He kept a clean sheet. Not bad going considering he was up against Falcao.
  20. He can't exactly be labelled a super-sub either. He's a striker, who is bought on to do a job and stop the other team from scoring. Basically Bowery is used as a very advanced defender by Lambert when he comes on as a sub. If the lad had ambition to have a decent playing career, at his age he should go out on loan, because he gets the odd minute at Villa. Should get playing games somewhere. Maybe a championship club would give him a chance, as long as they don't look at his 4 year record of 10 league goals at Chesterfield. Might come back more accomplished.
  21. He needs to improve his decision making, that's all. He probably had a season last year in Poland where he was banging them in from distance for fun and thinks he can score from anywhere now. He seems to be taking less shots with each game now. He's learning, slowly. Weimann's shooting and decision making has been just as bad too this season.
  22. Don't think Tonev is as bad as some people think. He's cutting down on his shooting and passing/crossing more now. Only a few games ago at Norwich, he shot everytime he touched the ball, now he has cut down. The goal nets must be huge in the Polish league.
  23. To be fair, a lot of the youth we've introduced in the past 3/4 years have gone on to have decent careers, many still at Villa. Nathan Baker, Ciaran Clark all regulars Weimann. Whilst ones who haven't really made it at Villa are still playing at a decent level with Delfouneso, Lichaj, Hogg in the championship and Bannan in the Premier League. Then we have someone like Carruthers, who I think played quite well in the few minutes he was given under Eck, but hasn't played a competitive minute under Lambert. His loan should be doing him some good. Like you, I'd love to know what Lambert's plan is with our own youth as there is clearly some talents in our u21's at this moment. Our first team is hardly bursting with talent.
  24. I thought that was more cheering for Lowton coming on than cheering because KEA is going off?
  25. Bowery is the answer to finishing a game professionally then? We were 2-0 up with less than 10 minutes to go, perfect chance for someone like Robinson. At 2-0 we were still showing more attacking ambition than Cardiff. If there is ever a chance to blood a youngster, then that was it, because if not in those situations, then when? We're not in the league cup. The 2 on the bench were 18 and 20. Sort of age when you should be picking up minutes if your good enough and when we have so many injuries. The lads will stand less of a chance of making a squad once Gabby, Delph, Luna, Bennett and Weimann are back in the squad. Lambert hasn't really put much faith in our clearly talented youth. Think McLeish was the last manager to give one or two of our own young players a proper run in the first team, with the likes of Baker and Weimann. I mean according to NextGen, we have some of the best youth in Europe. Think our first team is deprived of quality or competition in a few areas (i.e wings, with Gabby/Weimann practically having no real competition). 1 or 2 of Robinson, Graham or Grealish could provide competition or at least be given the opportunity to show they can. Our most talented youth players are wide midfielders/wingers.
