I'm fairly confident/hopeful that whatever happens, Kaiserslautern will tonk FC Köln *spit* on opening day.
As far as the mighty Dons go, I'm looking forward to goods things from Fraser Fyvie this season.
Those were the days; Toldo, Carnasciali, Firicano, Amoruso, Schwarz, Cois, Rui Costa & Batistuta. Brings a tear to me eye.
Then of course, there's this.
Viola fan since the early 90's, rarely get the chance to see them though so I was quite chuffed when my Spuds-following boss got spare tickets. I even missed their match against Villa last season as I was out the feckin' country. Never been down to White Hart Lane either, so it should be a good laugh.
Montolivo's been linked with Arsenal and Wolfsburg, but not seriously (hopefully!).
I'll be taking my nephew on his first trip down to watch them live, providing the weather is okay.
Good team to be playing for his first trip, better teach him how to deal with defeat beforehand though.
I'm so gonna regret having said that now!
If you see a tubby bearded man yelling about unrequited man-love at Riccardo Montolivo, that'll be me.
They do need to sort it out up front a bit. Neither Palladino nor Acquafresca have ever set the world alight with goals.
There are goalscorers to be had from the teams around them too; Barreto at Bari, Alessandro Matri at Cagliari (hell, with good service even Massimo Maccarone could grab a couple there).
Holy **** nuts, Rafinha off to Genoa from Schalke 04.
Aside from swapping the superior Alberto Zapater for Miguel Veloso, they're building quite a team down there.
I know who I'd love Fiorentina to get, Domenico Criscito from Genoa. Pretty sure they wouldn't sell for anything other than big money though; he's a cracking player, much better than Molinaro (although sadly another ex-Juve *spit* ) and more versatile to boot.
Emiliano Insúa's move to Fiorentina has fallen through, allegedly the player's wage demands were well beyond what Fiorentina were prepared to pay. Hey-ho. Smart money would be on either Andrea Mantovani or Reto Ziegler to be next in the list of targets for the LB position.
Surely if our transfer targets are based on filling certain positions then we would have the foresight (and downright common sense) to shortlist more than one preferred player? Such revision would (and should) be unnecessary. If it were me, I certainly wouldn't look at recruiting for a position without a plan B, C, D (and no wise-cracks about MON's unfamiliarity with plans beyond the letter A please ) etc.
