    Pelé

R.I.P Pele a true legend and great man. Saw him in the Santos game and a memory that lasts for my life.
  2. That shootout was like Jesse James firing real bullets and Sid James firing blanks.
  3. What was plain to see against pool was the lack of a leader and sometimes you have to wonder does the manager set up to expose the shortfalls in our defence. We do not have a good centre back on the park at the moment and therefore we are torn apart by speedy opposition and easy tactics mix that with a lack lustre midfield and a non producing attack force the only answer is new players. Faster, stronger, aggressive and mentally stronger team players please Mr Emery who would rather fight for the cause rather than submit to feeling sorry for themselves.
  4. Playing the high line was playing to Liverpools strengths, they always had the better attack force than us and with Ramsey missing that energy in the middle was lacking. Luiz was a passenger in the game and Buendia and bailey were just out muscled, Seems the old excuse was rolled out after the game, we are still learning the managers way of playing, sounds familiar from the last two managers and responsibility removed from poor players. We were outgunned in a pistol fight.
  5. Way to easy to bully, cannot handle the physical side of the game. The same can be said of Bailey.
  6. Our part timers were asked to play two games in a week and ran out of steam in the second half. Man u put a bit of pace on and showed up how slow our central defence are and how bad they read the game. Bambi on ice made to turn a bit sharpish and game over, they were left to cope and Unai learnt the task that awaits him.
  7. Glad to see he is bringing a fitness coach with him.
  8. Maybe get Tony Adams in first after seeing that third goal.
  9. To many of these players are lightweight mercenaries who will get any manager the sack, lack of fight, easily moved of the ball and sulk if the opposition will not let them play. We badly need new players with some loyalty, grit and commitment at this club . Good luck Emery your only hope is new recruits.
  10. It makes no difference who the opposition are when you defend like we do, calamity mings stepped up for the second week in a row and emi decided to keep him company. I think milly bright could do a better job of heading a ball because rabbit in the headlights seems to occur whenever a high ball comes in. Melberg just attacked everything that came his way, we just try to duck under it.
  11. Got groin trouble probably needs an operation
  12. When a 37 year old in Ashley Young can outshine and perform in any set up, you have to look at the players around him and ask why they cannot step up. We used to have a chant from the holte of Your not fit to wear the shirt and never has that song been more on point than with these players. Any professional player should at least have a bit of spirit and fight in them but this bunch retreat into their shells.
  13. Everytime Ashley Young steps onto a pitch he shows you what a professional is all about, a player that plays for the team and leads by example. Most of the others are bit part players who give a little cameo now and again and take no responsibility for their part time commitment and lack of fight but roll over to have their tummy tickled like your family pet. They got Smith sacked and they will get any manager sacked because they are a poor squad who are living the dream.
  14. Di Matteo, remi garde billie McNiel, Dr Joe ,tommy Docherty .
  15. I think last night showed how poor this squad is , we made hard work of a poor southampton side that had nothing to offer. The lump upto the strikers was mind numbing in its total panic to get rid of the ball and left it meat and drink for the taller saints players to own. Yes we have to get better at the back and Gerrards has revitalised Mings by letting him play his own game without the worry of being captain and maybe it would do McGinn a favour by just letting Emi take the reigns. This will be a tough season but that squad needs breaking up.
  16. Emi has in general been top class for us, but just when he first came he was catching the ball far more often than he is doing now, the modern trait is to parry the ball but how many goals come from just pushing the ball out. He looked so commanding catching the ball so for me can we go back to his old ways.
  17. Ashley forever Young was the turning point yesterday, what a game for a 37 year old to come out and lead us as club captain with Martinez making a decent captains role when needed. Mings played well up against a big man and looked far more relaxed concentrating on his own game, add to that 30% more effort by most players when they started to believe and watkins forever running gave their defence a torrid time. Have to say it again Ashley Young was the best player on the park.
  18. Three at the back park the bus
  19. When you have done the 69-70 season this is just Aston Villa.
  20. Pressing with this outfit would turn 70 minute players into 50 minute players .
  21. No one said the manager was blameless but on the park you as a player have to give your all and that includes tracking your player, putting a shift in and coming off exhausted. We do not have that spirit in this group and it is just not a few players, the agenda against the manager totally lets these players of the hook and whoever is the next manager is stuck with the same problem. The game has changed and its about powerful runners now not stargazers and pretty players for 50 minutes and believing smith could have done a better job.
  22. Maybe the tottenham players were just better players that could react to what was being asked of them and fitter to last more than 70 mins. When you let players run the club only mayhem rules as they all want different things .
  23. Totally overrated squad, how many 70 min players do we have, where is the fighting spirit, where is the press. Most of the players roll over, heads on the floor as soon as an athletic opposition come near them. Gerrard is to blame for the system and substitutions but once they go out on the park they should all put a shift in. We are on the floor but the 12th man is no where to be seen when they are needed, we can all throw stone's and blame but the villa need a response from the players not a 90 minute sulk.
  24. What stood out for me last night was how poor our squad is, when ashley young at 95 years old and a lucky douglas louis can shine a little brighter we really are scraping the barrel. This sqaud is full of to many simular players who play for themselves and not the team, that is what the arguments are about between players for not covering fullbacks, trying to beat that extra man and not playing the simple ball. We have a hard road ahead but for me players need changing and only new players will change things .
